This was a great location for sitting in the beach. You never have to leave. If you do want to leave it is a bit out of the way. It just depends on what you want to do. We enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room, great water pressure lots of towels and staples in the kitchen. If I had a complaint, it would be no direct ac in the bedroom. We made the fans work to cool the bedroom when sleeping.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here in Makaha!
We have made so many memories. This home is set up perfectly for 4. It is equipped with just about everything you need. We have vacationed on different islands and this spot has definitely been our favorite. Private beach front property and a short walk to swim in the ocean..

Amazing experience and host had everything you could possibly need in this beautiful home. Will definitely stay again on our next trip. 10 out of 10 recommendations for this beautiful property.

This house was ideal for our family of 3. Perfect water view, great beach down the road that was safe to swim, AC that worked well, etc. looking forward to staying here again! The host was wonderful.

We hoped to find a relaxing and quiet beach front house that we could choose to stay close to. But also go on excursions if we choose to. This house is ideal. Clean and updated, and stocked with necessary kitchen items. We can't wait to plan our return.

We have a very good time in Honolulu and would book this same house.

Such a memorable vacation - and booking this beachfront home was one of the reasons we had such a wonderful time! The home is clean and so comfortable - our friendly host covered all of the necessities and more. It's a quiet and homey place to truly soak in the magic of the island. Beautiful sunsets, gorgeous surf views, friendly neighbors and lots of special experiences available within a short walk or drive from the property. The beach and surf on the leeward side of Oahu can be a bit rough - the beach profile can be a tricky to navigate (definitely not like a typical US mainland beach). We are looking forward to another visit! Don't pass up this gem of a house!

What a gem! This house is in a cute and quiet little neighborhood right on the beach... Perfect quiet getaway for our family. We spent a few days in Waikiki doing touristy stuff, but purposely came to this side of the island to get away from the crowds and experience life on Oahu...House backs up to like a private beach... Thank you Reyna for a wonderful experience!

My husband young adult daughter and I had a great time. The house was a perfect for us. We fell asleep to the sound of the surf and would watch the sunsets from the lanai.

If you want the busy social lifestyle of Waikiki, this is not the place for you. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a quiet retreat right on the beach, this place is perfect!
The house is clean, open, and inviting, and you can't beat the proximity to the beach. We kept our windows open to hear the surf. The sand just beyond the backyard was just about private. We sat every morning either on the covered porch or out at the edge of the yard with our morning coffee, watching the waves (and the whales in the distance!). In the evenings, when it wasn't too cloudy, the sunsets were stunning.
Reyna was a fabulous hostess. Her instructions were clear, and checking in and out was effortless.
The town is roughly 35-45 minutes from Honolulu proper because of the low highway speeds, but as I said, that didn't bother us. We were able to spend plenty of time visiting the rest of the island and still had lots of time to relax at the house. We highly recommend walking 3/4 mile up the street to Aki's Beach, where we were able to see a couple of sea turtles basking in the sun.
The VRBO had everything we needed, down to a first aid kit (those volcanic rocks on the beach are sharp!) and a Keurig with K-cups.
If we ever make it back to Hawai'i, we would definitely stay here again.

The house is in the most beautiful spot of the Island of Oha’u
Calm neighborhood and you almost have your own private beach!
The house is equipped with everything you need for a day at the beach! It also has a kitchen so you can cook your own meals and enjoy the view while eating!
We defenitely recommand this house, and we also won’t hesitate to rent it again!

This was the perfect spot!! We loved waking up every morning to walk on the beach and listening to the waves at night! Reyna was so easy to communicate with and made sure to we had a great trip! We’re already planning our next trip!

Outstanding oceanfront location surrounded by mountains. Private and quiet street. Makaha Beach is the backyard and Aki’s Beach is a short walk. Oceanfront hiking trails nearby. Clean beach house with everything you will need. Beautiful sunsets…

We loved our stay at this home. It was exactly as described. It wasn’t really close to any main attraction but that’s the reason we chose it. I would highly suggest just taking a short drive or walk over to the Akis beach where you will find turtles. I also suggestion mountain magic shaved ice down the road. This will be our 3rd trip to the islands and it was the best shaved ice we have had.

Our stay was in January for 7 nights . Married couple with our adult 22 yr old daughter.
Reyna, our contact host, was extremely helpful answering our questions prior to booking and during our stay. The property was represented accurately. Woke and went to sleep to the sound of crashing waves on the beach! Surf was big while we were there and may not be ideal for very small children to swim this time of year at this beach specifically, but, there were times when it was calm and flat enough for paddle boarding and swimming as well. Two life guards on duty everyday on North end of Makaha Beach.
You have private beach front access and fabulous sunsets at this property. Quiet. Remote, in that it is approximately 50 minutes from Honolulu. We felt safe . Hawaiian neighbors and beach walkers were friendly.
Shout out to LET'S SURF HI. Recommended by local resident . If planning to take surf lesson, check them out.
We enjoyed a beautiful drive to the East side of the island for a quaint beach town excursion in Kailua Bay area (calm turquoise water here) after Lanikai Pillbox hike. The North Shore, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor all easily accessed and it was so nice to come back to this relaxing beachfront property.
Hope to visit Oahu again!

10 out of 10! This is the most beautiful treasure on Oahu. Reyna was fabulous in communicating directions for everything. The house was perfect and the backyard was a post card! We've stayed on North Shore, Waikiki and other places in Hawaii. This was by far our favorite.

We came for a long weekend (Thursday - Monday) and wanted to stay away from the main tourist areas. Makaha is very chill and quiet. We woke up every morning to the waves crashing on the beach and the surfers. It was so relaxing - and there were very few people around. The house itself had the best view around and was very clean and well appointed. Everyone was super friendly. My husband did not want to leave. 😊 For families with teenagers, I would suggest a mix of staying here with a day or two in Waikiki (which our 16-year-old preferred as there is more shopping and restaurants) or the Ko’Alina resort area. Ko’Alina lagoons are an easy drive from the house, and were a favorite. It’s also an easy day trip to the Waimae Valley and the north shore. Good home base if you prefer things a little more off the beaten path.

Reyna, the owner of this property, has clearly invested in interior upgrades to ensure the comfort of her guests. The home was well-stocked, and she promptly responded to all questions. The house was spotless and smelled wonderful upon arrival. The views from the backyard and walking access to the neighboring beach made the drive well worth it.
Our stay and sense of security in the community were somewhat impacted by the unexpected homeless encampments that span most of the public beaches throughout Waianae. However, this is not an issue that the homeowner can single-handedly solve.

I would fully recommend this property to anyone. Cozy gem with wonderful beach at your footsteps. Host was always quick to respond to any questions we had. If your looking to be off the beaten path this is it. Already looking ahead to staying again. Two thumbs up!!

We had an absolute amazing stay in this home! Leading up to our stay Reyna was amazing answering questions etc. When we arrived we were so happy with the house and the beach. We sat out every morning and had coffee and the few people who came by were neighbors and they were so friendly and welcoming. It really felt like we had a private beach all to ourselves. The house had absolutely everything we needed! We will definitely stay here again! A wonderful week in this awesome house!

We took our granddaughter to Hawaii to celebrate her graduation. While the location was not in the thick of things (for an 18 year old), we all agreed how wonderful it was to come back after busy excursions and sight seeing to this peaceful setting, our private beach and resting at night with the sound of the ocean. There is plenty to explore near by and the neighbor was helpful to point out a wonderful hike along the ocean just up the road. Every Saturday there is a farmers market behind Starbucks that was great fun and found some treasures to take with us. Our granddaughter was thrilled she was steps away from the beach and mentioned she found Joy right here! The house met all of our needs and Reyna was so helpful and prompt at addressing our questions. Thank you! We take with us wonderful memories of beautiful sunsets, seeing sea turtles , watching monk seals, seeing dolphins!!! We look forward to returning to this sweet little gem. Mahalo🏝

My family has always wanted to visit HI. This house was in a very quiet area. The beach was mostly deserted but we like our space. The host was very accommodating and very responsive. I hope we can come back some day. This place is awesome.

The location was awesome and the house was perfect! House has everything you need! Plenty of beach towels and chairs. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. The sunsets on the beach were spectacular.

This house is the perfect vacation rental. It is situated right on the beach with a nice sized lawn to grill and kick a soccer ball around. We enjoyed our mornings watching the light rise over the ocean from the mountains behind us. And in the evenings the sunsets are out of this world. We enjoyed watching it every night as a family and then falling asleep to the sound of the waves.
The house has everything you could need. Every piece of comfort is already there: the kitchen is well stocked with essentials, laundry detergent for the washing machine, and even some toiletries in the bathroom as well. There are beach towels, boogie boards and floats to take advantage of the amazing beach right at your doorstep. The beach itself is beautiful and clean.
The location is away from the touristy areas of Hawaii, which is exactly what we were looking for. This is your own little section of paradise when you are here and we felt safe and comfortable the whole time. It was like being at home.
Thank you Reyna for being such a considerate host. As a host she answered all of our questions, and was very responsive to anything we needed both while booking and after.
To say that we didn’t want to leave is an understatement and we definitely want to return in the future.

This property took my breath away. I saw turtles, dolphins, surfers, crashing waves, and flying fish all from the back porch. The views were unlike any property I have stayed in. The home itself was great and Reyna was so responsive, gave great local tips, and kind. I would not hesitate staying here again, my only regret is that we weren’t here longer!

Great place to stay. Private. Clean. Watched sea turtles and whales from the patio.

This rental has the most amazing beach access to Makaha Beach! It was so enjoyable and made our trip. The house itself is very clean and had all the necessities like washer/dryer, boogie boards, etc. It is a short drive to beautiful Yokohama Beach and Ka'ena Point (awesome oceanside hike). As others have mentioned it is "off the beaten path", and a drive to all the touristy sites. That is what we wanted, though. Perfect for our family!

Whale watching from each chairs daily. Surfers on distant beach fun to see. Comfortable residence away from crowds but within a short car ride to Honolulu.
Gracious and helpful hostess. Highly recommend this Vrbo. 👍

The beach access from this rental is amazing. The beach affronts approximately 10 homes which connects to a larger public beach park. This rental is towards the end opposite the beach park. We didn’t see many people along our part of the beach, and the beach park was not crowded (we were there in February during the week days). The home was clean and the layout matched the pictures. The host was very communicative throughout the entire process.

- Good amenities and floor plan
- Good appliance such as A/C, Smart TV, Washer & Dryer, Keurig etc.
(2) Cons
- Need pest control to keep away from ants, cockroaches
- Need some dishwasher, toaster, kettle, BBQ gas grill etc

We enjoyed staying at this property with the almost private beach and the quietness of the neighborhood. Everything went really well. The place has some small issues but nothing major. We would definitely go back again.

Our recent stay in this lovelyn beachfront cottage fully exceeded our expectations!! There was plenty of room to accommodate our party of 4. The furnishings and basic supplies were more than adequate. Great place to enjoy indoor/outdoor living!! Our host was very responsive and helpful. She quickly answered all our questions and recommended nearby beaches for us to enjoy. The beachfront offered multiple tide pools, sandy beaches, ever changing waves, and magnificent sunsets!! We definitely would return here and highly recommend it to all who are looking for a peaceful and private Hawaiian experience.

Loved going to sleep to the Sound of the waves on the rocks right out the back door. Just steps to beautiful Makala Beach. Sunsets were perfect. Reyna’s place was clean and comfortable. Never heard neighbors or road traffic. Ceiling fans kept us comfortable, only used A/C couple times. Hopefully be back soon, we will recommend to family and friends.
