About this house rental
Watch the ocean from 2 separate decks, a bedroom, dinner table, you name it! This home has 3 bedrooms with their own full bathroom. All bedrooms do have TVs (either smart TVs, or with Amazon Fire sticks), that come with access to Paramount Plus and Disney Plus. However we do suggest spending your time on the decks watching the ocean, out at the park or pool with the young kids, or at the beach! There is a smaller living room on the first floor, a bigger main living room on the second, along with a loft area that acts as both a 4th bedroom, as well as a kids' play area!
Bdrm 1: Queen Bed
Bdrm 2: F/F bunk bed (twin trundle)
Bdrm 3: King Bed
Loft (Bdrm 4): F/F/F custom bunks, couch that pulls out to small bed
1st Living Area: Queen Sleeper Sofa
2nd Living Area: Couch
The space
You enter the home into the downstairs living room with a queen sleeper sofa and two master bedroom suites flanking it. In this lounge area, you will find a mini library as well as access to the ocean side deck. A sliding glass door takes you to the outdoor deck with an ocean view.
The oceanfront bedroom has a queen bed and its own private bath/shower.
This bedroom also has a desk if you'd like to get a little work done. There is an additional downstairs bedroom with a F/F bunk bed with a twin trundle, and also with its own private bath/shower. The ocean facing bedroom has a closet, but both have a dresser.
Continuing upstairs brings you past the laundry area at the landing with a recently updated washer/dryer. Up to the second floor you will enter the kitchen and living area. The kitchen comes with stainless appliances, granite counter tops and island, and solid maple cabinets.
From the open concept living space, guests will enjoy a gorgeous ocean view from the many windows. A large dining area is set off to the side of the kitchen for plenty of seating (8). Enjoy the ocean views while having your dinner! The living room provides loads of natural light from the large windows extending into the cathedral ceilings. Access to the oceanfront deck is provided through the door in the living room.
There is a master suite off this area, with a king bed and jetted bath tub/shower. This room also includes a dresser, and closet. This bedroom also has an adjustable height desk for use as a workstation. If you wish to use the jets, ensure the water is up above the jets/filters, and then you need to turn on the switch at the bedroom entry then press the button on ledge of the tub. Use at your own risk!
On the landing to the third floor is a small half bath leading up to the bedroom loft which boasts a custom built triple bunk built into the walls (F/F/F). This also has a new couch, that pulls out to make a small bed. It's a lovely play area for the kids, or anyone that wants a little more separation and to get away from the rest of the group! This loft also has a 32" TV which has an Amazon Fire Stick to log onto applications for streaming etc.
As of 03/31/2023, the pool is scheduled to open 04/15/2023 and then close for the season 10/31/2023.
** Due to COVID-19: Additional restrictions or unexpected closures may occur per HOA. **
Don’t forget your linens! By default, linens are not provided during your stay. You are welcome to bring your own linens, or we have linens/towels that you may rent from us, or we can offer a 3rd party linens rental service.
If you rent from us, not only should it be cheaper than using a 3rd party, but we will also MAKE the beds for you! I don't know if there's anything worse than having to spend the first bit of your vacation making beds, after the long drive in getting there.

This house was perfect for us. Perfect proximity to the beach & pool. Bonus daily workout with all the stairs. The house if fully stocked with everything needed. The decor is adorable. The mid level patio was perfect for the super hot or rainy times. The Pauley’s were very responsive. Thank you for sharing your space with us!

Nice place, good location. We have everything we needed. Only complaint is no water pressure if more than two showers operating at the same time.

This is the perfect spot.
Clean, pet & kid friendly. Walking distance to beach & playground.

The well decorated place was lovely and our complete family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The townhome is laid suited our family quite well. Our 9 year old loved staying in the loft area which was a kid's dream room. It was a nice touch with a lovely collection of books for every reader.
The gorgeous beach is extremely close and if you are up for an evening out, there is a great bar with live music located across the street. Hopefully we will be back soon for more R&R.

Booked last minute and so glad we did. The place was in a great location and we all had plenty of room. Easy walk to the beach and it was nice to have a view for our morning coffee. Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.

The townhouse was perfect for our family getaway. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Location is great, close to everything you need: stores, recreational activities, restaurants and of course the beach. Host was very responsive and easy to work with! Look forward to staying again in the future!

The location was great as it was very close to the beach, a playground, and right across from a couple of bars and a convenience store. The beach was clean, no garbage, and the fishermen there were very friendly. Extra parking for guests was in a lot by the playground. The unit had beach chairs, sand toys, and everything you need for a fun day at the beach!

It was the best time with our extended family. Three levels divided up with plenty of space. A downside is a lot of stairs if you have someone that can’t do them. On the other hand tons of gates built in to all floors for small children or pets. Great area that has a swimming pool right outside and a playground across the street, with a lending library. The beach is so nice, my biggest complaint is the sand was too fluffy! Lol. Tons of sea glass near there. The trailer bar is on the other side of the street and was perfectly fine and the music was nice to hear. Not too loud. Rent a golf cart in advance and drive around the island. A bit of confusion on the parking situation. Only two cars go underneath and there is other parking spaces near the apt but you may not see them. If you park across the street in the Public lot overnight, you will be fined. They drive around daily and check. So if you have multiple cars, you may have to do some switching around. Overall it’s the best place to bring multigenerational family members. Thank you to Dan and family for sharing this great vacation home.

The ladies had a great time!! Property owner was great in communication.

The property was clean, as advertised, and located very close to beach. Bonus Surprise - the homeowners had tons of games, toys( for house and beach), even outdoor speakers for us to use! Owners had extra batteries and various tools to fix all those small things - like a battery on a door lock. Sure, we could have had them come do it - but it takes 2 seconds and done - especially with homeowners who have the supplies on hand! The neighborhood was our next surprise! The neighbors themselves ( actual owners staying while we were there) offered additional parking spaces, food recommendations, even played catch with the kids. It is a bit of a walk to food and classic shops - but we enjoyed it. The trailer bar was of no interruption and we liked the music outside. Dog Surprises.....The local street department workers offered our dog a treat each morning when we would pass on our walk! several local shops are not just dog friendly - they encourage and treat the dogs that come in. So incredibly "dog friendly" neighborhood. We even had a police officer actually get out of his car to come get some dog pets in!
great home, owners, communication, and community.

Had searched for quite a while seeking perfect beach location to gather Kids and Grandkids and dog(s) from throughout the northeast and due to life-on-life terms could never settle on a booking until 2 weeks prior to agreed vacation week. We stumbled on this booking as a last-minute opportunity. What a lucky find.
The property is ideal for anyone who likes to be at the beach, on the beach, for the beach! Short walk from the door to beach access.
The description understates the roominess, cleanliness and convenience of the layout for family to gather together or find some peace and quiet. My 4 and 7 yo grandkids loved the activity area in the loft. The amenities were as described and made the stay more enjoyable. We had a group of 6 young adults, two kids, two Grandparents and two dogs. We were all comfortable. The only information I would add, and we were warned, there are stairs so know that - nothing our crew could not manage.
Our first time to Top Sail / Surf City area and it far exceeded the family beach expectations we were hoping to find. The value for rental price was fantastic considering last minute arrangements. Did I mention the short stroll to the beach? Grandkids carried their own stuff!
Host Dan was friendly and easy to communicate with... responded immediately to questions and needs we sent.
We brought our own linens/towels and only needed to grocery shop... everything else was already there.
Our only regret was we only had one week.
We would book again!

Beautiful home! We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked for preparing food for a large family. The view from the dining table and main living room was wonderful! We would have liked a few more dish clothes. If anyone has issues with old knees, there are quite a few steps. The location was great- very very short walk to the beach and convenient to local restaurants and attractions. We were happy there was a pool to relax in too. Overall we could not have asked for a better place to stay while making memories!!!

Great place - clean and fantastic location. Just steps away from the beach and a playground. Safety gates at each level of the stairs, toys, books, and a blackboard wall for chalk made for an ideal stay for my toddler. Would definitely stay here again and recommend!

Thank you to the home owners for such a wonderful property. If you have kids, this place is absolutely perfect. The location, cleanliness, layout and home features are perfect for families. We have a toddler and the home has baby gates on every staircase, toys, a chalk wall, tons of books and games and bunk beds for kids. The play ground and beach are so close. A very short drive to the restaurants in town. The owner was quick to respond to any questions and gave us our code quickly to check in. Thank you for providing a great home away from home!

Initially I booked our spring break stay because I liked the name 😂
Communication with the host, Dan, was terrific leading up to and during our stay. We knew exactly what to expect and the accommodations exceeded our expectations!
The size and floorplan worked really well for our multi generational crew. Grandma and Pap enjoyed the first floor bedroom with ocean view (yes, there are actually terrific views from both decks and the seaside windows of all three floors!) My husband and I were comfortable in the mid level king room, and the kids loved having their own space in the loft. There are lots of stairs, so come ready to climb (while this was not an issue for our group, it may be worth noting for others)
The common area including the kitchen, dining room and living room is wide open and a great for hanging out, playing games, and preparing meals together. The kitchen was adequately stocked with cooking utensils, dishes, and even some common seasonings and spices. There were a bunch of family friendly board games to choose from, and the table easily seats eight. The centrally located washer and dryer were definitely put to good use. Each bedroom has its own full bath. The convenience and privacy this offers is a nice perk.
Noteworthy, the walk to the beach was easy and a lot closer than I thought it might be based on the aerial pictures. The views are truly great, even though it's a row back. The pool was in the process of being opened while we were there, and appeared to be in excellent condition. The park across the street was very well maintained. We had an awesome stay and hope to come back again soon! Thanks, Dan!!

If you are looking for an easy walk to the beach, this is the place to stay. Wonderful views and easy walk.
I was worried about the Trailer Bar across the street but no worries. We didn’t hear anything, once inside the townhouse.
The place was very clean and plenty of room. Bathrooms are very small and the master bedroom with bathroom is just as big as the other bathrooms. There closet size, unfortunately.
My only complaint would be not realizing that there would be so many steps up and down no matter what. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my mother n law is almost 80 so it is not friendly in that sense. Not a complaint on the owner at all, just keep in mind that if you can’t handle steps and a lot of them, this isn’t the place to stay.
I would totally stay here again if I could handle the steps but unfortunately, I can’t.
If you pick this place, you will be happy with the location, the townhouse itself and the owner. You couldn’t ask for better communication!

This great house made our mini vacation amazing, our host Dan was great in answering all our questions, the location of the property is great, would definitely stay here again.
5.0
First of all Dan was always quick in responding to my questions. House was clean, bright and was sufficient for a family of 10 and 2 dogs (hypoallergenic & non-shedding). Was very convenient & with in a minutes walk to the beach. Pool was great especially in the evenings after a long day on the beach. Having the "Friendly Mart" across the street was nice to have. The Trailer bar is across the street. Music plays Wednesdays,Friday/Saturdays but I bring my own sound machine everywhere so was not an issue for me. Didn't bother the kids at all. Was 2 nights when extended family came to dinner and there was about 22 of us in the house. Told family next door if it got too loud to let me know being we had 7 kids under 10 at one time. Never heard noise from next door. Loved the fact it was a corner unit and though you could not see all of the beach you still had a beach view with the sounds of the ocean. If I had the intentions of doing another beach family vacation I would most definitely re-book this house. Also there is a shower downstairs before coming into house. 2 cars fit under the car port and if you have 1 or 2 more drivers in the family with their own car there is 2 visitor parking passes for the complex which has maybe 9 spaces. It is first come first serve. My daughter got a spot and just left her car parked the whole time. Our family had a great time!

Property owner communication was prompt and seamless. Property was exactly as described! Kitchen and living room area was the perfect family hangout and nightly game location.
The views from our balconies were breathtaking and if you look out the loft window it looks like a framed picture! Enjoying morning coffee on one of the balconies was perfect. You are close enough to hear the waves crashing!
We recommend going to the beach to watch high tide, you won’t be sorry!
We saw many comments about the noise from the bar, however it was not bothersome to us. We could only hear it when we were outside and it was faint when heard.
The property came with the essentials, such as: laundry soap, dryer sheets, garbage bags, dish soap, toilet paper and hand soap! The kitchen was well equipped also! That was a nice addition to the property! We added linen to our rental, and it was great walking in after a long drive and having the beds made!
The community pool area is steps away! It was well maintained, cleaned everyday and easily accessible! There was never a time we were at the pool that it was overly crowded! It was a great asset to the property.
The beach access is steps from the property! It is one of the easier accesses in the area! The beach location is not crowded. There are restrooms conveniently located at the public parking area of the access. Keep your eyes open for sharks teeth on the beach!
My only suggestion (minor) would be the addition of a small vacuum to the house. The cleaning crew might have forget to vacuum before we arrived (I know they are busy) and It would have also allowed us to freshen up midweek (we used the broom) a vacuum would have just been easier. Again, not an issue, just a suggestion!
We would highly recommend the property and would stay again!

Wonderful experience! We had great weather and a great stay. The location of “Got 99 Problems (But the Beach Ain’t One)“ was perfect. Close to the beach with a pool in the complex and a playground right nearby.
The house was very spacious and provided ample sleeping quarters and bathrooms. It was nice when we arrived to have the beds all made up with the rental linens. The walk to the beach was short and returning for forgotten items or bathroom breaks took very little time. Both decks had views of the ocean and provided a nice hideaway to have morning coffee and lunch. The second living room was also a plus- especially at the end of the day when people were cranky. The washer and dryer worked wonderfully for the workload that they had to handle. Utensils and dishware were in abundant supply as were cookware items. We borrowed from the owner supplied beach items…..sand chairs and boogie boards. Dan Pauly was ‘Johnny on the spot’ answering our text and email questions before and after arrival.
The loft area was a big hit with the kids. Plenty of books, toys, and games. Plus the blackboard wall was genius. Each area had tv’s – kids especially liked the big screen tv in the upstairs living area.
We plan on coming back. Highly recommend this townhouse!

First Beach trip to Surf City!
We had a great stay in this lovely townhome in Surf City. We enjoyed seeing the sunrise every morning on the deck. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils for cooking and serving and even had some stock supplies in the cupboard for our use. There were toys for our use on the beach and comfortable beds. We were more than pleased finding it all very relaxing and enjoyable. We would definitely love to come again and highly recommend it!

We would be thrilled to rent this property again. Dan was responsive before booking (in fact responded faster than the 5 other properties run by rental agencies I sent questions to at the same time), and through our stay. Check-in process was smooth and easy. Dan also checked in with us after arrival to make sure everything was comfortable and to see if we needed anything.
The house itself was fantastic. We noticed and appreciated several details that enhanced our stay and spoke to the attention Dan and his wife put into the property. Things like baby gates at all stairs, a child's potty seat, step stool, labeled light switches (seriously so helpful!), optional cabinet locks, outlet protectors, comfortable deck chairs, and plenty of beach toys. There were great books for kids through adults, games, puzzles, and even some toys. The kitchen was well supplied with pots/pans, an electric griddle, electric kettle, and hand mixer. The appliances worked perfectly fine and we appreciated that dishwasher detergent and washing machine detergent were present so we didn't have to buy them after arrival.
The location was wonderful. Nice view of the ocean from the deck, easy stroll to beach access. Great park across the street. Close to the mainland and plenty of shopping, the Soundside Park, and places to eat or get coffee or ice cream.
I will balance this with a few cons, just because while they weren't enough to deter us from wanting to return, others may want to have the information.
The loft is a truly fantastic feature for kids, and the amazing windows are a real asset to the house. But that combination means that even with attempts at providing curtains the loft gets pretty bright early in the morning. Our light sensitive kids already have eye masks, so it wasn't a huge issue for us, but if you have kids that wake up with the light you'll want to put them downstairs or introduce them to eye masks while sleeping or they'll be up at 6:30 with the sun.
The Trailer Bar across the street was loud. And rowdy. Mostly on Friday and Saturday nights. Loud enough that I was woken up from shouting at 2am one night and the music was noticeable on those nights even with windows closed up. Light sleepers may benefit from sleeping on the ocean facing bedroom or bringing ear plugs. We didn't feel unsafe, however and the rest of the surrounding neighborhood was calm and quiet. Again, not a deterrent from a future stay, but may be helpful to prepare for.
