The staffs helpfull and very friendly! The gave me a bicycle to round nearby village and beach. The sunset at Pantai Puteri is awesome! Facilities is top notch, very peacefull. Mosque also just nearby, can just walk to perform prayer there. Really enjoy my stay, worth the money.
Bit confusing when i arrived because the gate is closed. But then the staff said just honk amd they will open it.

Absolutly cozy place.
Tranquil
Amazing staff.
Could need some maintenance
Some of the offered tours are a bit too expensive.

Room was ok, maybe the mosquito netting need some washing. Good ambience at the hotel, quiet, laid back. Dinner served as part of the package was good/acceptable, but breakfast was a no go.
Nothing much to do around the hotel area, please improve on the breakfast served.

Dinner was amazing. Every food was so delicious.
Room - the bed linen have termites and I didn't really enjoy sleeping on it. During day time, the room was so hot, even the aircond and fan were switched on.

Very quiet. Very stylish. Very nice staff.
Everything was fine.

Beautiful architecture and great vibe. Having the pool as the central focus was a really nice idea. Both dinner and breakfast was delicious. This place is a bit out of the way but perfect for getaways to unplug from the rest of the world.
Nothing much. Maybe some small maintenance issues here and there but nothing that was a deal-breaker.

The pool and the atmosphere of the property is really nice. While the room is rather small, there's a lot of common space, which makes up for this. The Santubong Wetland River Cruise and the Sarawak Cultural Village are nearby. The food was tasty; you get breakfast and a three-course dinner every day. Unfortunately the options remained the same throughout our stay. Being vegetarian, we alternated between spaghetti aglio e olio and a vegetable curry the whole week.
The Village House collaborates with a driver named Jamal, who'll pick you up from the airport for RM 128. While ordering a "Grab" would be quite a bit cheaper, we were happy with Jamal. He drove us around all week and was really reliable. He knows the hours of all relevant tourist attractions and also organized a former ranger for our visit to the Bako National Park. Make sure to go there! The money for the guide was well spent. Without one, we'd have barely seen any wildlife.
The hike to the summit of the Kubah National Park was a bit underwhelming as there's barely any view from the jungle and the little tower at the top was (at least officially) out of service. Due to the rainy season, most trails were closed. For the same reason, we couldn't climb Mount Santubong. The Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching, on the other hand, was worth a visit.
Quite a few of the activities that we did were rather far away. While the area around Mount Santubong is nice, it's a 45 minutes drive from Kuching. Given that we went to the beach only twice (it's quite flat and has crocodile warnings at some places), I'd consider booking something more central another time. Just to be clear: We had a great stay at the Village House, we just chose it for the "wrong" reason (its proximity to the sea) in hindsight.
Two other minor things:
– None of the windows are sealed, so we had ants on our toothpaste in the bathroom.
– There's a mosque right next to the Village House (which the muezzin (?) was happy to show us). While hearing the Adhan during the day is part of the cultural experience, the first time is at 5:30 am, which is a bit early, especially if you're still jet-lagged.

A very good place for short retreat, tucked away in a quiet corner among nature. Attractive traditional Malay kampung style lodgings. Staff are very friendly & helpful.
Toilets clogged in the morning (all 3 rooms), two days in a roll, rather distressing. Perhaps due to very heavy rain that overflowed the sewage system, but definitely needs improvement to make guests stay more comfortable.

Nice & cosy, friendly staffs
staying for 3 nights, first 2 days having same menu for both breakfast & dinner. would be good if menu change everyday

Well prepared breakfast.
There was plenty of insects but that was expected in a rural setting

The environment, foods, beautiful garden, near to the mountains. The staffs also friendly and helpful. Clean bedroom. The most important thing is their policy are very strict which is suitable for those who want privacy.

We loved our stay at the Village house. The house was full of character and perfect to relax in the pool or lounge areas after the outdoor activities around Sarawak. Laurence and the team helped organise our activities including Bako(~40min cab) and Semmenggoh (~1hr cab) and gave plenty of great local tips. The Food on site was great with a good range of local dishes. We would definitely recommend staying hear if you want to explore Sarawak and don’t want to stay in Kuching. We hope to revisit one day!

the food and the service there is very nice
The air condition is abit too loud and the sound proofing of the house could be better, cause can overheard other people walking and alot of bird chirping

lighting was great and creates nice ambiance. very pretty place. great collection of belian wood furnitures and Bundi used for lighting making it a real kampung house style.
being locked in without instructions on how to request for the gate to be opened for emergency. very small room and felt cluster phobic. felt like no privacy because other guests were only a walk away and the common areas are cluttered and felt a little congested with only 4 more couples. imagine if it’s full house. if you order food, the amount were very little and when asked for refill I was charged RM20 for extra kueh tiew. mattress was old and bed was noisy

A really fantastic stay, beautiful and well-kept property with a family B and B type service feel. The rooms are set out like local wooden houses, beds and pillows comfortable. There is a nice library where you can pick out books to read, and the bar is well stocked, and the staff can mix up cocktails for guests. All the food is very well prepared by their chef, celebrating local flavours and ingredients. Try the beef rendang, it was really excellent.
It is located in a rural setting, so mosquito protection/spray is essential.
3.5
The site itself is beautiful - the pool, garden area and the rooms. It is very calm and relaxing.
We were told we could arrive early and have lunch on arrival, but when we arrived we were told that the chef wasn't working that day so there was no food available. There isn't really anything around the hotel so we were left super hungry! And the staff were not that helpful in trying to sort the situation out. Also the photos of the beach are a little deceiving - you have to climb a wall to see the beach and you definitely can't swim due to the crocodiles!
4.5
The hotel is in a very private location and it is a wonderful place for some wonderful quiet time. Great place to chill and you literally don't have to go anywhere once you are here. Staff are all excellent!
The ensuite bathroom could have be better with some fresh scent. Towel quality is excellent!
4.5
The serenity, peace, staff and hosts were awesome.
Food was good. Overall design and decoration of the whole "village house" was unique and superb. The common room was a plus.
The classic design of the bed frame reminded me of my kampong life.
The squeky bed frame for the Serai room.
4.5
Very cozy and not crowded.
The room a little small for 2pax. We always knock at the bed side when we move around.

Very good facilities for a good getaway. They have a leisure room with games and TV to spend time. Really a very good place to escape from the hustle bustle city.
Not easily accessible so it is best if you have a transport. Anyhow, TVH is helpful enough to get you a Grab or arrange a shuttle if you need to go anywhere.

Sarong provided is really a nice touch. The surrounding is well maintained. The hotel concept is good.
Should have a proper signage to the hotel. The road leading to it is a bit small. There should be a door bell or instruction when the guest arrive, as we are puzzled when we arrived at the property. Breakfast food quality can be improved, and better coffee. Walls are quite thin, so we are bother by other guest speaking and laughing till 2am at night. Should have more space around the property as it felt a bit crowded even though there only 5-10 people, especially at the poolside.
4.5
very nice people , beautiful room,
food was good but not many options for vegetarians
