We stayed here for 1 night because we were going on a cruise the next day. The property was clean it seems a little old & needs a lot of work done. The upstairs bathroom shower was cold so some of us had to take cold showers. It was far from restaurants, stores, & the cruise port. Overall it was ok for a night.

The listing made the house look stunning but the actual house was not what we expected. We did have issues checking in but host was able to help us promptly. For a weak stomach the smell of the home was overwhelming. We had to buy things to make the house smell decent. There is ants so you can not leave food out in the kitchen. The game room is completely separated from the house so going up and down for kids wasn’t the best. There was also a siding of the house coming off so we were scared to park our cars in the drive way. It had enough space for everyone to sleep but no dining area or table to fit the amount of beds there is. Overall we had to make the best out of what we had.

My family, along with three other families, booked a house to stay in on July 12th, the Friday following Hurricane Beryl's impact on Monday. I maintained regular contact with the host, understanding that many in Galveston were without electricity. Less than 24 hours before our stay, I asked the host if they could guarantee we would have a place to stay if we drove to Galveston. At that point, they informed me that my only option was to choose another date, which was not feasible for four families. When I asked if they had another place for us to stay, they did not respond.
I had to work with VRBO directly, and their customer service promised to help me get a refund. Just one hour before our check-in time, the host offered another house and refused to provide a refund, insisting that I was canceling. Despite my patience, knowing Hurricane Beryl had affected everyone in Galveston, VRBO’s rules state that in such circumstances, the host should offer a refund.
I am still waiting for a refund. VRBO customer support refunded the VRBO fee and advised me to work with my credit card company to get a refund from the host. This is unacceptable. Hosts should do better, especially when they are unable to provide the accommodations promised or a timely refund. Avoid this host to prevent a similar experience.

My husband & I took my son & about 10 of his friends to spend the weekend for prom. The main reason I selected this home over others was because it stated there was a community pool, however, what they failed to mention in the description of the home was that the pool is seasonal & would not be available during our stay. Unfortunately, we didn't find this out till after booking. Because of the ages of the boys we were taking the pool was one of the perks that we were looking for in selecting the home. So this was quite disappointing to find out afterward. There was plenty of beds to accommodate the number of guests for sleeping however, there are not enough chairs or a table to accommodate that number of people to eat. Fortunately, they were young boys & didn't mind standing around the kitchen island while they ate. Some had to sit on couches, but this was my mistake for not realizing before booking. The shower handle downstairs was broken, but quickly repaired by the hosts maintenance. The home was cool & comfortable. The game room was the groups favorite part of the home & fortunately big enough to keep them all entertained. Another great part was the beach being so close & just a 2 minute drive from the house. The home itself needs some work done especially the plank flooring & the kitchen feels compact & crowded, but it was still a nice place to relax. There was one towel set for everyone, but no where to hang to dry, maybe some hooks in bathroom would be beneficial.

This property is great for large families staying on Galveston Island. The house had a lot of beds. The kitchen even has kitchen supplies for a large family. There are plenty of island activities immediately nearby (gulf beaches & bay fishing).

Overall I had a good experience. The complaint I do have is the cleaning crew arrived at 3:30 pm and check in time was 4. We had just drove 7 hours and at 4 we went ahead and went inside. They were not done cleaning but they should have started way before 3:30. They spoke no English so was frustrated. The game room smelled like mildew.

Overall the stay was great! We did have a small issue with check in and the keys not working, but luckily the property manager kindly sent maintenance out to assist us. They quickly fixed the problem and we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay. We did have some trouble with the upstairs shower being cold, but I did alert to property manager. They kindly offered to send someone out but we were often gone and out of the house, so we just used the downstairs shower the remainder of our stay or used the upstairs shower to cool off. They also were nice enough to pick up my mom's cup and worked with us to mail it to her. Overall great stay!
Some things that may be nice to add to the stay or bring with you -- blankets! The AC works fantastic but we did get a little chilly. Thankfully we often pack a few blankets just in case the house doesn't have them. It would also be nice to have wood to start a fire in the fire pit in the cooler months.

Unit was dirty, floors were soft, visible mold on wall, no place for personal belongings. Was not told about the cost of using the pool. Seating inadequate for a family (3 stools), i found used femenine product in restroom trash! Multiple areas of chipped woodwork, dirty walls, torn cushion on couch in lower level. This place needs rebuilt.

Hi,
My family stayed here in July 2023. I chose this home because it had enough beds for our large family of 12. Online the home is well painted & bright. When we drove up I was convinced we parked at the wrong home. It didn’t look like the photos. The two trash cans were overflowing & smelled like dead fish. The outdoor patio with the picnic table was filthy. The grill was completely rusted & broken. The game room bedroom was a completely separate unit. We didn’t know that. The lower level bathroom connected to laundry room is not ventilated. Made us sickly hot to use. There were ants all over that space! There are not dressers or closets with hangers which means we lived out of our suitcases on the floor so until they sprayed for ants the ants got everywhere. Many of the dishes were dirty & put in the cabinets. The cookware was not suitable for cooking. Very thin pots. The couch in the arcade had a large ripped hole. It was pretty dissatisfying. The manager did drop off a new grill so that helped. Community pool is not free FYI. Positives! The location is in a quaint neighborhood. You have to drive across a very busy intersection to reach the beach. We definitely did not walk with kids to cross that. Jamaica Beach was great & never crowded! Loved crab hunting after dark. To advertise sleeps 12 & the only dining seating is 4 bar stools at the island is not ok. The palm trees surrounding the fire pit are all gone. Misleading photos. Some hangers & closets for clothing.

The location was great but I wish I could say the same about the house. First and foremost, we discovered that some of the windows had broken locks, and therefore, posed a serious safety risk. There was mold on the ceiling. There was no bathtub as the listing indicated. The floors were dirty and sticky. When we arrived, all the beds were made up; however, when we pulled back the sheets that night, we discovered that some sheets had not been changed since the last guests. That in addition to the broken locks on the windows is absolutely unacceptable. In the kitchen, a lot of the silverware was missing. The plates and bowls are not microwave safe. And as stated in previous reviews, the trashcan was broken and we needed a dust pan.
All that being said, the owners were very responsive when we couldn't get the AC to work right away. They were also very responsive with other little things, such as during the booking process. And they checked on us after we got the AC working again.
If all of these issues were addressed, we would consider to staying there again.

Phenomenal host and home! We got our whole family and extended family together in this home! We are a family of six and brought an additional 5 people (2 of which were infants) with us and two dogs. Plenty of space for everyone to sleep and play! Fire pit was perfect for sitting around and catching up with the family. Arcade area was great for both the younger kids and the teens. Home was clean and stocked with everything we needed! Location was nice. Directly across from the beech but a bit away from the busy area by the pier (still within good driving distance to all the touristy fun things). Great food trucks at the front of the neighborhood. Absolutely perfect stay

Great time
We stayed at this cabin for a weekend to take the kids to the beach for the wknd after school let out for the summer. The cabin was clean and had enough beds for everyone to have their own bed to sleep in. We had zero problems during our stay. Location was quiet and peaceful. It was within walking distance from the beach. We had a blast. Property owner was very prompt in responding to messages and very polite. Would highly recommend staying at this property.
