Buttercup was a nice stay with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. It sits in a charming, quiet neighborhood with easy access to local restaurants and activities. Unfortunately the living room rug and yellow chair were dirty/dingy and the kitchen could use more pots/pans. Otherwise it was nicely appointed.

Very nice cottage so clean and with everything you need. Feeding the goats was fun. Went to Dupont state park and saw the large waterfall, a must see.

This cottage is so comfortable and convenient. My family and I had the best time playing games on the screened porch and watching the goats.

Once my husband figured out and opened box key, we were delighted with our stay...enjoyed show at Flat Rock Theater, our supper was delicious at Seasons Restaurant at the Highlands Inn...enjoyed talking, petting and seeing the goats in the field...comfortable beds and furniture.

Charming cottage, lovely decor, pretty setting, comfy beds.

Just so charming and serene, well kept, well stocked and exactly as described. Great location to visit Flat Rock and Hendersonville. The goats were an added bonus! If you'd just like to step away from the chaos of life, I would definitely recommend this cottage, and hope to visit again.

It would be helpful to provide a better description of the Highland Lakes Community (it is an old hotel, resort, residential neighborhood )
Upon arrival the cottage smelled stale/of old cigarette smoke, certainly not fresh. We called customer service; they asked if we wanted a cleaning crew to come out but, no idea when because this was a holiday weekend and this was not an emergency. This was not something we wanted given we were tired from traveling and wanted to get settled in.
Installing ceiling fans in the bedrooms would be beneficial. The rules state you cannot turn the thermostat below 70 or you will be billed if there is an issue. We don’t believe the thermostats were accurate. Even when it indicated 70 degrees, the cottage and the bedrooms were not cool, they were stuffy with no air circulating
As someone else commented, a piece of furniture with drawers would be helpful in the small bedroom. There is virtually NO space to put anything
Everyone likes a different firmness in mattresses. If you are looking for a firm mattress, these are not for you. They are very soft with significant depressions in the centers.
The porch is real nice. It would be much better if there was a ceiling fan to get some air circulating, it was pretty stuffy in warmer weather.
The kitchen is very functional with a full array of necessary items.
Please provide a rubber shower/bath mat for large bathroom shower, it was very slippery

This was my second stay at this sweet little cottage. Beds are comfortable, kitchen has everything you need. The place is spotless! the screened in porch, overlooking the field of goats is everything. I will definitely be back!

My sister and I stayed in Buttercup Cottage for two night. The cottage was immaculate and tastefully decorated. Comfortable beds, lovely location. We are both over 65 and I use a cane to walk due to arthritis. I would have given five stars, but there were three things we felt were missing at the property: 1) there are no grab bars in the bathrooms, which was an issue for me, 2) there are no working fans in either bedroom (there was a box fan in the primary closet, but it doesn’t work) and 3) no instructions for the TV in the primary. (The TV in the living area was fine). Other than these items, it was perfect!

Everything you could want in a property! I cooked in most nights and the kitchen was fully equipped!! The quiet goats outside were an added bonus.

The Buttercup Cottage was perfect for our family’s fall break trip. It was peaceful and even nicer than pictured. We found the location convenient to apple orchards and outdoor adventure destinations.

The house is adorable. This a wonderful toddler friendly place to stay. We love the goats and the kids plates and cups in the cabinets. The house is cute but not cluttered with too many decorations.
* Please wash or change the comforter covers between guests. Ours had berry stains on it. We knew it was berries due to the empty berry carton on the lower shelf of the nightstand. Also some things the owner may want to consider. 1. Sanding the steps (baby got a splinter) 2. Replacing the porch latch (baby briefly escaped)

We enjoyed our stay at the Buttercup Cottage. It was perfect for two couples and property was great to explore. Easy walk to lake and to the dam/old mill. Cottage is close to Hendersonville, Saluda and apple orchards. We also enjoyed a play at the Flat Rock Playhouse and feeding the goats nightly. We would return and recommend the Buttercup if you are visiting the area.

Great place, very quiet but close to plenty of activities

We were very pleased with our stay at Buttercup Cottage and our communications with the host. It was a wonderful atmosphere and a very clean and pleasing property. I would suggest 2 things: The second bedroom needs to have nightstands with drawers in them. There is not a dresser in that room; clothes you do not hang up have to be put on a top shelf in the closet. The other suggestion would be to leave some instructions in the Cottage regarding how to use the TV's. We were able to figure out the TV in the living room but not in the Master bedroom. We were in and out so much we didn't bother the Host with this. I would definitely recommend this property.

Great weekend getaway close to the Park at Flat Rock
The cottage is very cute. I would add to the description that it is within the complex of the Highland Lake Inn so that it's a bit easier to find. The Buttercup cottage was perfect for a long weekend and the two bedroom/two bath set up is great for couples. I wish there were more things to walk to nearby (restaurants, shops).
