Old Jack's Boat, a popular BBC children's television series, was filmed there. In Staithes, art and heritage festivals, galleries and artists studios, as well as regular art courses and workshops are available. Tourists can take advantage of the free Illusion Trail, which leads them through the network of ginnels (alleyways). Bethel Chapel is simply enchanting! Beautiful, bright and airy. Full of character and charm. I loved the art collection, pottery, books and music. There’s everything you need and more! Great bathrooms with new towels and bath matts. The beds are very comfortable and again seemed like new bedding. Lovely vintage furniture throughout. Just perfect.

Bethel Chapel is a really beautiful property and Staithes is an amazing location, but the property is let down by it's general cleanliness and state of repair. Carpets, rugs and cushions were stained, one toilet leaked, one shower door was broken and everywhere was covered in a layer of grime. The kitchen cupboards were all rammed with more pans etc than you could ever need but we never did find a pan that matched a lid and we had to wash everything before we used it. If you can get over the cleanliness, or lack of it, then this will be a great stay, but I didn't go on holiday to spend most of my time cleaning.
