About this villa rental
Standing proud on our romantic Poldark coastline, Seal Point Villa is a spacious seaside house on the edge of the historic village of Mousehole. As a home from home, it 'gives kindly' to all its guests, whether just a couple on a getaway or a multi-generational group of up to 9.
Come and create those magical Cornish memories, that so many of us cherish from childhood: Easter with the spring-time flowers and beach surprises, Summer on the sands and in the water or an old-fashioned village Christmas with the famous Mousehole Christmas Lights.
Seal Point Villa in a nutshell:
* full sea views from nearly every room (five bedrooms)
* spacious interior
* very good beds and linen including 1 S-King and 2 Kings
* safe gated garden, toys, books
* 4 mins walk from 2 sandy, sheltered historic harbour beaches
* Mousehole's famous rockpool at the end of the gated garden
* seals and wildlife to watch from the garden
* 10-15 mins drive from a dozens of other sandy beaches
* golf, snorkelling, surfing, coasting, paddle-boarding, diving, sailing, fishing, theatre, coastal walks all nearby
* well equipped open-plan kitchen, pantry space, utility room
* outside hot shower
* BT infinity WIFI
* parking for 2 cars (more if you ‘shuffle’)
* NB prices are quoted for up to 6 with additional charge for additional guests to keep things fair and enable smaller groups to enjoy the house. If you are just two of you, please ask as we may be able to offer a slightly reduced rate at some points of the year.
Flexibility
We have regular couples or foursomes who come every year to enjoy the space and views. Then there are larger family groups who come to enjoy special inter-generational family memory-making time together. The house lends itself well to many sizes and configurations. Please ask about special rates for parties of four or less.
Space to Relax:
So whether you’re a family of 4 or 6 looking or a larger family group up to nine or ten, Seal Point is a seaside home from home. Large rooms and hallways and plenty of bathrooms mean everyone can enjoy being together but also have their own space to relax.
Different Needs and ‘Must Haves’:
With sea views from most rooms and the lounge, dining room and kitchen, with large comfortable beds, four bathrooms (plus a downstairs wc and warm outside shower), parking, wifi, a safe garden, toys and books on hand…we hope the different members of any party will find their needs met. We are fussy ourselves when we go away, so know how important the different elements can be. If you’re the one booking, meeting all the needs can be a tough job - please do not hesitate to ask any specific questions to make sure it’s a fit.
Logistics:
Seal Point was a much loved family home until we had to move away and let it some years ago. Many bookings happen now by word of mouth but we also advertise here. A professional changeover team manages the house and a relative lives nearby to welcome and help with queries.
Relaxation or Activity:
So...what's it like to live here? Sip a good coffee and savour a cream tea on the terrace while the children play on the climbing fort in the large gated garden. Watch sea birds, seals, old luggers and sometimes dolphins from the living room.
It's a 3-5 minute walk to the fine restaurants, cafes and galleries of 500 year old Mousehole and the sandy beaches of the small harbour which is perfect for swimming with children. Older children and teens love the water fun in the harbour and can play there in relative independence.
Being so close to the clean sandy harbour beaches, it's perfect for bright young sparks to go to the beach while others enjoy a lazy breakfast on the terrace or indeed for tired little ones to come home for naps or to refuel, while older siblings play for hours in the safe waters. Mousehole harbour is one of the few places where you can mess about in inflatables in relative safety (always supervise, of course).
Golf courses with sea views are 15-20 minutes' drive away at St Just and Praa Sands.
By car or bus, you can discover the Minack Theatre, many other beaches including Sennen, Praa Sands, Porthcurno, Chapelporth, Peranuthnoe, St Ives, St Michael's Mount etc all 3-10 miles away. On foot we have the famous cliff paths, all the way to Land's End and beyond.
'This is a house like no other. The garden is so relaxing with children and inside there are plenty of toys and books. And oh, waking up to those views!' Sam and Jim
Shops, transport, distances: Mousehole is 3 miles from Penzance and 1.5 miles from the fishing village of Penzance. You can walk (or scooter!) to Newlyn along the coastal path in 30 minutes and Penzance in an hour. Bikes can be hired in Pz.
Mousehole has 4 restaurants, 3 cafes, 2 ice cream shops, the pub The Ship, a much-loved Deli (which also servces very tasty takeaway fish and chips and other dinners) a Vegan restaurant, a grocery shop with fresh bread, numerous galleries and all the charm of the storybooks.
In Newlyn you'll find a small supermarket, fresh fish shops - minutes from the trawlers (including the largest privately owned fleet in UK), 2 bakers, a butchers, cafes, home-made ice-cream etc. The harbour also provides the most suitable moorings for yachts, from £12+ a night depending on length.
In Penzance, 10 minutes by car from Mousehole you've all the shops, cinema etc you'd expect in a town of 20,000.

As a way to celebrate my husband’s 75th birthday and our 40th anniversary we decided to bring our family to Cornwall and introduce our grandsons (7, 3 & 2) to my husband’s sister, brother and extended family. In addition they were treated to stories from grandad about growing up in Cornwall. The home was beyond our expectations. The first thing you notice is the amazing view. Our 3 grandsons were obsessed with the trampoline and rock pool. We took advantage of the sea walk in to Mousehole almost daily and celebrated our son and daughter-in-law’s 4 yr anniversary at the Mousehole deli/ restaurant. We loved being able to walk in to Newlyn to Jelberts for ice cream. The bus stop right out front was utilized on more than one occasion. The house was welcoming, we were greeted with a lovely basket filled with local treasures (the Ginger cookies were a big hit) and fresh flowers that became more beautiful every day. There was much more room than we anticipated. Plenty of space for multi generations. We had everything we needed to prepare meals. And again, the view! The toy cupboard kept our grandsons busy when we weren’t on adventures. As we were coming from the US, Esme was kind enough to supply beach towels for our trips to Porthcurno and Marizion. The many bathrooms and bedrooms were perfect for our group. The linens were wonderfully comfortable. If you are looking for a place with the comforts of home and a holiday feel, Seal Point can’t be beat. We had the best time…

We throughly enjoyed our stay.
On paper the house seemed a little large for our family of 5.
But it was perfect.
We used less bedrooms but felt very comfortable in the rest of the house.
It was refreshing to stay at a well equipped house. Every thing was well thought out from the kitchen, to the wide array of children toys, even cushions and blankets for The Minack Theatre.
It was great to be such a short walk from Mousehole. We walked in every morning for coffee and croissant from the cafe.
And my eldest enjoyed jumping off the Quay most days. While I felt it was safe for my younger two paddling around on the SUP in the harbour.
So much fun to be had for all ages. I would highly recommend this house and the location. Perfect!

We’ve just returned from a week at Seal Point and so wish it could have been longer. The house is beautifully equipped with the most amazing views. We could have spent the whole time just gazing out to sea looking for seals and watching boats. Just a few minutes walk to Mousehole, where we had a delicious birthday meal at 2 Fore Street. Minack theatre was amazing, Porthcurno beach was beautiful, Newlyn cinema charming, wonderful walk to Lamorna cove…and so much more. Thank you Esme and Rob!

Wonderful house & location
An incredible house right on the sea front with unrivalled views! Hosts were contactable if needed and we were welcomed with fresh flowers, welcome pack and a card, made us feel very much at home. A great house for this area, with beautifully furnished, practical rooms for a fabulous family holiday, lovely and clean with everything you need. Kitchen was well equipped and bathrooms were all super too. Outside warm patio shower fantastic for post beach hose down!
Views of the sea all around us from pretty much every window - we spent a lot of time enjoying them and watching the sunrises, boats + seals playing! Heaps to do if you love coastal path walking, swimming, beaches and little Cornish towns to wander around. Plenty of info in the house folders too on where to go and where to eat. There were some great places to eat and walking to supper in Mousehole so convenient and lovely. We would love to come back!
Many thanks Esme & Rob for a wonderful stay at Seal point.

Esme was very communicative in the run up to the holiday, especially given the difficulty in organising a group holiday with changing covid-19 restrictions. The house is very spacious, the photos don't do the incredible views and ample rooms justice! There is a sea view from 3 sides of the house, comfortable rooms and bedrooms and a lovely garden right on the sea. You can wander the path across the rocks to the harbour or rock pool, and spot seals from the windows. The proximity to Mousehole harbour meant that in our multi-generational group different members could peel off without having to wait for everyone to be ready. We also made the most of being a mere 20 mins drive to the stunning surf at Sennen Cove.

A perfect week
A lovely, well equipped house in a fantastic location. Mousehole is such a pretty place with nice places to eat (Hole Food’s new restaurant particularly), pubs (nice short walk to King’s Arms in Paul or the British Legion for a more local experience), some great walks (eg to Lamorna) and great fish from Newlyn (cooked on the barbie), though sausages from butcher’s there also recommended. We enjoyed trips to Minack Theatre, St Ives, Polgoon vineyard, Land’s End walk from Sennen Cove and especially the 3 hour boat trip from Mermaid tours (we saw seals, a porpoise, a blue fin tuna jumping and a large school of playful dolphins). If you wonder where the seals are they are round the back of shag island opposite the house - point the telescope to the rocks on the left of the island - there every day we were there. Great interaction from the owners.

We were the first visitors for a while due to the Covid pandemic and the owners went well out of their way to cater for this. The house is beautiful, warm, clean and has everything we needed. Communication was excellent before and throughout

Wonderful Location for a 3-Generation Family Vacation
The house, garden, views and quaint fishing village of Mousehole were fantastic. We enjoyed coastal hikes with breathtaking views of pristine beaches and turquoise waters, sailing with a local who told us much of the history of Mousehole, swimming from the beaches in the harbor, and fishing from the quays. In addition we made several trips to the Tate Gallery in St. Ives as well as visits to St. Michael's Mount, Penzance, Land's End, and many other local points of interest.
The house was well prepared with all the facilities we could want including a high-chair, toys, books, DVDs, beach towels and picnic blankets. The property owners are generous and thoughtful - they reached out to us from time to time to ensure everything was going well and to make suggestions for trips.
We can't wait to return to Tavis Vor!

The happiest holiday
Dear Esme and Rob
I was sorry to miss you yesterday morning but I had to sign some papers for my brother who had sailed into Newlyn.
We were all thoroughly enchanted by your beautiful home and the children were totally absorbed with the garden and rock pools and the beautiful beaches; utter bliss for us all! Thank you.
I am sure there were one or two minor problems soon overcome with familiarity. The step from the kitchen to the pantry was just an hiccup and I understand that you have already thought of that one!
The beds were wonderfully comfortable, home from home which is such a bonus. We are all avid readers so enjoyed dipping into your eclectic library curled up on your comfortable sofas.
I shall chase Charles for his plant list, I know he is very busy at the moment but will push him along! His brothers tease him but love him dearly for his eccentricities and he had a good rest, 'slept like a log'.
I do hope we managed to clear everything satisfactorily and in time for the cleaners to come in.
With enormous thanks for the loan of your beautiful home and best wishes to you and Diana. It would be wonderful if we might come again.

An absolute gem! A truly special place, beautiful inside and out - thoroughly recommend!
We’re still pinching ourselves that we found this beautiful house and that it was available for the week we celebrated our wedding. Thank you to Esme and Rob for sharing their home, so many lovely, thoughtful touches and so welcoming. My family stayed here for a week and couldn’t find fault - except having to leave on the Saturday! It has everything you could ask for - and much more. The views from the bedrooms are stunning and the children were in their element playing in the rock pools and in the beautiful garden. I got ready at the house on the morning of my wedding and seeing seals basking in the sun on the rocks as I had my hair done was truly magical and something I will treasure for a long long time. Thank you again Rob and Esme, it really was the icing on the wedding cake!

A great property for a wonderful family holiday.
We had a marvellous time at Tavis Vor. There is absolutely everything in the house for a great family holiday. Easy access to Moushole means you do not have to jump in the car every day. We had a one hour trip by boat from the harbour which was good fun. Nice little beach in the harbour which was safe for youngsters to get into the sea. We made good use of our bus pass. The open top bus from Newlyn to St Ives taking 3 hours was a lovely journey taking in many places including Lands End. The Old Coastguard pub next door offers good food and friendly service if you don't want to prepare food yourself.

Could not fault it!!
Extremely comfortable and well equipped. Plenty of room. Wonderful views. Handily located, just a stones throw from Mousehole. We knew Rob and Esme were only a text away should we have any problems. As it happens we never needed them. Could not fault it! Hope to return soon.

Best views in Mousehole
The house was fabulous for a large family. Plenty of room for us all. Loved the open plan living accommodation and the number of bathrooms. No queuing for a shower or toilet!! Great to have parking in Mousehole which can get very busy. We had fantastic weather so used the garden to eat most of our meals. The views are amazing and the sound of the sea was a great back drop to our holiday. The whole party want to return again. Thank you.

Exceptional property and location. Previous reviews for 5 star experience - absolutely spot on.
I had decided to celebrate the 60th birthday of my wife with a week away for the family. 3 sons (their wives), 3 grandchildren (5, 2 and 6 weeks). I did plenty of research to make sure we selected the right place. Delighted to say that the research paid off and we have just returned (yesterday) from a fantastic stay.
Difficult to condense the experience and most has been written in previous reviews and detailed in write up from owners (Rob and Esme)… but I will try:
Location, property and provision of all our needs to use for our benefit – including the array of toys for keeping children occupied – plus personal space when needed as I had to keep in touch with work (WiFi – internet is perfect); is 10/10
The personal touches from Rob and Esme knew no bounds. From the welcome pack, preparation of bedrooms with cots and signage on each bedroom. Superbly organised and I was unable to add any feedback for improvement anywhere. A 'wow' moment on arrival to sad departure but memories [and family photographs] will be with us forever.
For us, Mousehole was a bonus, as we did not appreciate the proximity of the harbour / small beech and quaintness of the village. Even whilst dawdling at child pace you are at the harbour in less than 5 minutes. It is literally a 20-metre walk to the Old Coastguard and we found it delightful for the odd liquid refreshment and ‘special’ meal, whilst being very child friendly. The delightful Ship Inn facing the harbour also do pub food and although there is a small restaurant it can cater for children too but would think advance booking is essential if with children.
We also found the location ideal for travel with most places to visit (by car) 30 minutes away or 1 hour for those further afield. Also, perfect for walking the children along the coast to Newlyn and playing in rockpools with private access from garden (down steps).
There are two dedicated car parking spaces and we managed to fit an additional at side of house and one of the smaller vehicles ‘serial’ parked behind one in the allocated space for total of 4. However, it would be difficult if one had 4 large vehicles to manage parking at the property.
If I can offer any advice and you are contemplating renting a property in the area – save your time on research and simply check availability and go for it!
The 'Dempsey Family' wish to pass on their thanks to Rob, Esme and Helen for all their efforts to ensure we had the perfect week - mission accomplished.

Once again we had a wonderful stay at Seal Point. This place never fails you. It's such a warm, welcoming and comfortable, jet spacious house in just the perfect location.
We never get tired of watching the sea right in front of the property with all the wildlife like seals, birds and even dolphins.
The house is great for a whole family, a group of friends or just two people who look for the perfect getaway.
With numerous bath- and bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen you can stay in for diners or go out and enjoy one of the great restaurants in walking distance.
Seal point comes highly recommended and Esmé and Rob are wonderful hosts.

Unique place, cannot be bettered
We eleven truly appreciated this spacious family home, replete with all that children need both indoors and out, as well as the telescope and many other luxuries for the adults. The beach in Mousehole harbour is safe and great for littlies; the rockpools at the base of 'our' steps a delight for all ages, the coastal path the best route into the village.
We were well looked after too by Diana, for the odd extra need, question or request.
Altogether a marvellous place to stay.. We'd be happy to return.
Currently the rock swimming pool is not fully functional but can still be used for swimming when the tide level is suitable. For more classic beaches one needs wheels or good walking legs.

Fantastic location, Great house, Great time
We had an amazing stay at Seal Point this July.
The house is amazing, in a great location with the garden overlooking the sea. You can watch the trawlers and fishing boats all day. There is lots of space and the rooms are comfortable. This really is a family home.
Of course Mousehole is a great location too, some great restaurants, and plenty of things to do for young and older alike.
Rob very kindly took us fishing and sailing in the Ellen, which really made our stay magic. We hope we can come back someday soon. Thanks for having us.

Absolutely stunning
Tavis vor truly is beautiful.
This busy world we live in sometimes leaves us with little time to spend quality time with our loved ones and appreciate the beauty around us.
Having just spent time there with my own family, I can say hand on heart this is tuly THE most perfect place for your stay in Cornwall. Tavis vor is like something out of a story book, set in a stunning location overlooking the sea with St Michael 's mount in the distance. The house is huge, yet homely. Every window pictures the sea and even on those wet and windy days you feel euphoria as you watch the waves crashing on seal point and the harbour. Cosy up around the log burner in the lounge as you play your family games together or sneek away down the garden to the concealed seated hideaway to sit with your glass of wine and take in the view of Mousehole harbour in the evening with its pretty lights.
In the words of my 78 yr old mother as she sat looking out " if heaven's like this, I'd go tomorrow " ( mum still very sprightly though and not about to go may I add )😁
The owners, Rob and esme are such lovely people and very welcoming. They have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay at tavis vor perfect.
Thankyou to you both and we cannot wait to return.

Beautiful setting, large well appointed house, fantastic hosts!
This property is ideal for exploring western Cornwall. The view out the back of the house is gorgeous. The back garden is lovely and the private access to the sea is a real treat. The house is much larger than we expected based on the pictures and is beautifully decorated. Rob and Esme are the perfect owners. very helpful and responsive.

Wonderful property! A lovely, well equipped home within stunning views.
We found Seal Point to be to a high standard in every way. It was comfortable and spacious yet cozy. The owners were helpful and left very good and detailed information on how to use everything and also about the surrounding area. The views from the house are breathtaking and the village of Mousehole itself charming. Can't say enough about our trip there!

Idyllic
A return visit, after staying in this lovely, comfortable house last year. We (just 2 of us) stayed longer this time and were able to divide our days between sightseeing and just relaxing and enjoying the views from this prime location, overlooking the sea.
We had a lovely meal in The Falmouth Packet Inn at Rosudgeon, which is not much to look at from the front but has a conservatory and beer garden at the back, and very good food. You need to allow lots of time, as the meals are cooked to order. Trebah Gardens are worth a visit, and there is a private beach with lovely views at the bottom of the gardens. For nearby sandy beaches try Porthcurno, Sennen, Praa Sands and Perranuthnoe. The latter has a little crafts centre and cafe, and the Cowhouse Gallery there caters for all pockets with a wide variety of local crafts. A return visit to the Penlee Art Gallery, which is such an interesting small gallery and museum and, during September at least, you don't have to peer over umpteen heads to get a glimpse of the impressive and moving works of the Newlyn artists. However, even at this time of year many of the minor roads were still very busy (perhaps the Poldark and Pilcher effects) with not many lay-bys for admiring the views.
Our best times were definitely spent at the house - watching the seals, dolphins, fishing-boats, wandering into Mousehole, walking to Newlyn, or sitting in the Rock Pool Cafe next door, eating crab sandwiches or enjoying a cocktail. Esme and Rob have created a beautiful and comfortable home, which lacks for nothing, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody.
