Front desk person spoke English well, breakfast was decent. Air conditioning didn't work in room, two smoke detectors were constantly beeping loudly all day and all night, WiFi frequently disappeared, hot water was rare, toilet didn't flush completely, no remote control for the TV. I'll never stay again.

Laundry service is a bit expensive. Love the old wood paneling in the hotel.

Checkin and checked out within 2 hours. It is that bad. No way should this be even considered 3.5 stars. It is at most a 2. From the insects in the bathroom to the ripped and torn up rug, it was awful. Horrible front desk, he never got off his cell phone while checking us in.

We had an awesome stay in the Gran Hotel Bolivar. It is a hotel with an antique charme and we loved hanging out a bit in the yard or the lobby premises. Breakfast was very rich and had many options - even Maca powder. The room and bathroom as well was spacious and the bed probably among the best we ever had in a hotel. The staff was as well very helpful and very accommodating to special requests. The passion for this business can be felt in each person and even the owner himself is still very involved and helped us even to get to our terminal in the midst of the night. Location wise the hotel is in the city center perfectly a parallel street away from the big noises, but just a minute walk to it. I dont know other hotels in Trujillo, but we would stay again only in the Gran Bolivar if we were to come back. (Collectivo stops to Huanchaco/Chan Chan are as well right around the corner)

Two good days here. Good position in the old town and close to our busstation. The friendly staff helped us with a tour to Chan Chan, and by paying a little extra we had the room untill our bus leaving at midnight, and for free they took us to the busstation by car.

We spent two nights in the hotel. The entrance preserves the colonial front of the building, while the rooms are in a modern building. The rooms was clean, the staff friendly, and the included breakfast was large. The rooms was a little warm but there was air conditioning. All in all it was a good stay, fairly priced, in a good location to walk around town.

Was a 10 minute walk from the main Plaza but very close to the main bus company terminals. Staff were really friendly and helpful and some spoke great English. The entrance and reception areas were very pretty.

Service was friendly and efficient. Small gym needs maintenance. Hotel is conveniently located in the periphery of downtown Trujillo, avoiding traffic congestion. Hotel is a combination of an old mansion and a modern building.

Initially I was given a room at the front of the hotel, which suffers a little from traffic noise; it was no problem to move to a quieter room. Spacious and comfortable room, good buffet breakfast, staff incredibly helpful & friendly. Needs a little TLC.

The office staff was wonderful. The cleaning staff was excellent and helpful. We loved your breakfast. Our kids got a room with a down comforter but my husband and i did not. It would have been nice to have a down comforter. My son booked the room but my husband and I paid the bill. I supposed because our son booked the room he was given a little nicer accommodations. Our shower was really weak and I talked to the hotel staff and he fixed it for us which I really appreciated. (room 407)

The hotel itself was fine: clean, comfortable and very friendly and helpful. However, it is not where it shown on the map so instead of being very close to the central plaza, we were several blocks away in an area that our local business colleagues described as unsafe and unsuitable. They were so concerned that they moved us to other accommodation, which meant we had to pay a penalty for cancelling our booking after check-in. We felt this was somewhat unfair as the hotel was incorrectly shown on the map.
