The staff and facilities were nice, but the check-in policies are absurd. I called the day before to arrange for an early check-in and was told to confirm on the day of. When I called on the day, they said no early check-ins were available because the rooms weren't ready. Given that check-out is at 11am and it was 3pm, it’s hard to believe no rooms were available. I wanted to check in at 3pm, which is standard at most hotels, but at this Residence Inn, the check-in time was 4pm. I had a wedding at 4pm, and they still couldn’t accommodate me. I would not recommend this hotel.

Clean and parking but the guy charged me card like 5 times even though I booked it on expedia

I was skeptical after booking and then reading the negative reviews that maybe we didn't make the right choice. To my surprise, the room was extremely clean up on arrival, absolutely no complaints about the room and it's comfort. Front staff was very pleasant. My only complaint was about the pool, which was quite chilly (I don't think it was heated). The pool light was broken and just hanging out the pool, still attached to the inside that left a hole in the pool, which kinda spooked us all out. Also the broken belt for the heat in there was really loud and intrusive. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was better than average hotels. The full size kitchen and two bedroom suit was perfect for our family needs. I would stay again.

A main reason for booking this hotel was for the pool. Unfortunately, despite consistently being told the pool was closed for cleaning it never opened during the entirety of our stay.
Additionally, the surrounding grounds next to the hotel was covered in dangerous trash.

I don't know how this hotel has an 8.2 rating, especially given all the terrible reviews I'm seeing now. I didn't read them initially because of the high rating and the fact it's a Marriot - I assumed it would be fine. While the beds were clean, the rug was torn up, the couch was stained, and the appliances were all dented. While those are all cosmetic, I really expected more from a Marriot. And the pool, a big part of why we chose here, was super cloudy and really questionable. God knows what's going on in there. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

We learned immediately that the pool was closed. Very disappointed.

Cleaning crew left wet towels in the room, white powder falling from the ceiling from the little horse running upstairs, toilet leaking when flushed, blood on thd wall, pullout couch mattress was filthy. Front desk tried to accommodate however at 11pm it was too inconvenient to pack up 4 kids and move. Definitely requesting a refund.

Room service never came. Definitely outdated but fine overall.

This hotel is adequate but I could see where some people would be disappointed. Our room was a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite. The hallways and room was just okay and dated but it was quiet and comfortable. To start off, the kitchen garbage was overflowing when we walked in. That wasn't a good start. There was an electric start gas fireplace that didn't work. I appreciated the utensils but the drawer they were in was broken. The old time mechanical thermostat worked well. The in-room heat/AC worked well for us but the dust and dirt from the vents accumulated on the dated "popcorn" finished ceiling. The couch had visible stains on the cushions. I tried flipping the cushions but the other side was even worse. Our bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The TV in the bedroom was cleaned with a dirty rag and was very streaky. The tissue box in the bathroom had one tissue left with the blue line on it indicating to the cleaning staff that the box was empty. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Oddly, the way the property is designed with the parking, there are very few spots (4) by the front door, so you need to park further away to access your room. We used a side door to save time carrying our stuff. All in all, it was comfortable but not great.

Very disappointed with breakfast, only eggs served scrambled, boiled, with cheese on a English muffin or quiche... no turkey sausage, no bacon, no ham no m meat at all... c'mon Marriott let's never let that happen again

The bed was horrible, hard and uncomfortable! The room was dirty with splashes of who knows what on the bathroom door, dishwasher full of dishes prior to check in. Dresser was uneven and there was a bar of soap used to help keep it upright. Remote didn’t work well. Room heater not working. Breakfast was ok but no coffee and person was not available in kitchen to get new coffee. Left disappointed!

Very nice place, parking felt limited and no food services other than breakfast but everything else was great.

The suite had plenty of room for our family, which was great! The kids loved the pool. Overall, the hotel could use some updates/replacements. It seemed worn, but again, we're thankful for the ample space.

Everything was awesome, super clean staff was friendly, shaleen was so welcoming and friendly, the only issue was the bed and pillows, mattress was so hard and uncomfortable I couldn’t sleep and when I did fall asleep briefly I woke up with pain and numbness in my back and shoulder, pillows were lumpy and thin no support , might be time to upgrade the mattresses but everything else was great.

Front desk staff was friendly. The in-room kitchen appliances were good and clean. One bathroom door was beat up— holes from a hook that must’ve been installed once were there as well as other large scratches. The carpeting could be replaced.

I am extremely disappointed in my stay at this hotel. I was charged by Hotels.com when I booked the reservation and then the hotel also charged me and refused to refund. Also, we waited an 2 extra hours to check in because they had no one to clean the room due to being short staffed. The only thing I had going for it was it was affordable, and close to aquarium at least we thought so.
Terrible customer service when I called to discuss the refund. I got put off three different times. Finally, after waiting for the refund for three weeks I got someone on the phone that just continued to argue with me instead of crediting the fraudulent charge.

Our reservation indicated check in was 3:00 and check out was at 11:00. When we got at the hotel around 12:30. We were told at the front desk, that check in was 4:00. We had to drive around until after 3:00 until are room was ready. While in our room we had to call the front desk several times to get fresh towels, coffee for the coffee maker and an extra pillow. Response we kept getting from the front desk was that they were out of those items. For the complimentary breakfast they kept running out of food less than 1 hour after it started. Since it was a New Year' s weekend, they seem to be unprepared. A lack of house keeping available at the time that the hotel was fully booked that weekend.

Staff was excellent and room seem cleaned but had a damp towel in the bathroom and no clean fresh towels. Had to ask for towels, bedding for sofa bed, blankets and coffee maker and was brought to room. No hot tub at the pool.

It was good that they have 2 bedrooms

Very nice guy checked us in. Room was decent size. Bed was uncomfortable. Room was loud. People coming in and out of hotel all hours of night (loud and possibly drunk?). There are better options in the area

Central location in Mystic, CT. The lobby had festive decorations. The pool and breakfast are easily accessible. Check in was easy and staff was professional and efficient. My room was large and comfortable, clean with all the amenities of a residence. I like the swiveling TV. Bathroom was large with heated lamp. Check out was easy.

The staff here are amazing in my opinion, my boyfriend and I got here super early from NYC and check in isn’t until 4pm typically, they allowed us to check into a room that was available, it was definitely cozy and quiet. We had a nice little kitchenette that allowed us to do a bit of cooking, having a free breakfast in the morning as well is great too, they have a vast selection and take time to prepare and stock everything for visitors. We used the gym which helped us keep to our usual regimen a bit as well, and we walked pretty much everywhere since the olde mystic village is less than a 15 min walk from the hotel. There were two occasions during the week where staff baked cookies and brownies for those staying at the hotel (we got brownies the day we were leaving and it was amazing.)
Some of the reviews are mixed but from what we encountered, it felt comfortable and cozy, nice and quiet and just everything we needed for the few days away from the chaos of the city. We will be coming again soon, hopefully for the summertime when a lot more of the outdoor activities and events are happening, but we did so much in the past couple of days that despite it being colder, we still had an amazing time. Thank you all for making our little vacation one of the most memorable ones.

Marriot rewards member and worst condition Marriot ever stayed at, room curtains all had holes in them, kitchen draws were busted and falling apart. also room had a fireplace but that did not work either.

My experience was not great with Residence Inn. Had to change 3 rooms across 2 different blocks on a super cold night. First room did not have thermostat working. Technician was not able fix that. In the 2nd room again the thermostat was not working, but the technician was able to fix it. But this room was not cleaned. Dirty bed linens were still in the sofa bed. There was a dirty bowl in the sink. So had to change the room again. In the 3rd room too the sofa mattress was dirty and the room was not vacuumed properly. The front desk staff tried to replace the sofa mattress from other room, but that too was dirty. After all this waiting and shuffling we did not have any more patience or strength to change the room again. Definitely not a Marriott experience. Felt like a 2 star motel stay paying a higher rate for the Marriott brand. Breakfast was mostly the usual continental spread which again we have had better in other Marriott hotels.

The curb coming into the driveway heading to the parking lot was out too far in the driveway.

A good portion of the rooms had no A/C due to mechanical failures. Not particularly well cleaned. Hoping to get a refund

Overall we were very happy with this hotel and our stay. The room was great and we loved the studio feel with a small dining area and full kitchen. The breakfast was great. I really enjoyed the biscuits with gravy, but there was a ton of options. They had a basketball court which was a nice touch and were very close to everything. The pool was a bit cold and a little cloudy, but overall we were happy. We traveled with a family of 5 including a baby.
