The service at the café and room service was terrible. In both cases, they brought us our coffee and we had to wait for cream. Room Service they forgot the maple syrup. A Second set of utensils and we had to wait for cream until the coffee was warm.
The room was showing signs of wear and the tile in the shower could’ve used a cleaner. The chairs in the café were so worn out they were uncomfortable to sit in.

Best hotel and the best service in NYC! 💓

One of the best hotels in the city. Always consistently good, with excellent service. Soho is a great part of the city and the Mercer is a perfect location.

Staff: Amazing. Genuinely friendly. Josh and Hassan are awesome.
Hotel: blah. Dark, cold, gloomy, moderately unkempt. My room smelled horribly of smoke. The air didn’t work. It was also dark (poor lighting) and depressing. Fixtures might have been installed in the 1600s, but I know the hotel is not that old.
Value: Way overrated. Paying for location not quality. I would recommend many of the other high-end hotels in the area that are both nicer and cheaper (Soho Grand, 11 Howard, etc.)

Stayed at the Mercer many times and we love it. For the first time we didn't book the studio rooms (there weren't any left) and the queen size beds are really too small unless you're super in love or tiny. I think the mercer should rethink the bed sizes even in the lower category rooms. Other than that the hotel is wonderful, we love the design, its super clean, housekeeping is amazing and the bathroom is very nice with a nice shower (even though this time there were plumbing issues). I you wanna spend the money you should definitely stay there!

Front desk staff were wonderful, professional, gracious and fun to talk with. Room was great - everything you need. Excellent shower pressure and body spray, giant bathtub that filled quickly, Christian Liaigre’s interiors have withstood the test of time - your own modern artists loft in the middle of Soho in the beautiful Astor building. Can’t say enough about all the staff from the door people to the room attendants to the front desk staff. A wonderful memorable time!!

This hotel is strange. It’s beyond minimalist. Modern, stark, not comfortable with ugly carpet. Feels like an office instead of hotel room. While that’s not my vibe, there are other issues. The heat doesn’t work and it’s November. The lights buzz. Didn’t know the switches have a dimmer that have to be turned up. The engineer brought a space heater! There is one in the hall too by the elevator.
Weird for a modern hotel.
The staff tries to please. the rooms have robes, slippers as expected for the px and goodies to greet you. That’s v nice but doesn’t make up for the room being uncomfortable and stark. The room door looks like it’s from an industrial warehouse.

Loved everything about The Mercer - fabulous studio room, welcome note from Manager, perfect location, quiet, helpful professional staff. Only issue, the coffee was not good and the service in the cafe a tad disorganized. The on-site restaurant Sartiano's was amazing though.
