Old and rundown. Two smaller elevator for so many people. Rooms are outdated. Front desk not friendly
I should have taken the hint with the negative attitude when I tried to change a reservation.
Information. On hotels.com website is not accurate.
Very rude when we checked out to get support to bring car to the entrance to help elderly parents (89 and 94). They could care less

Nice hotel near by the beach. Very clean everywhere, breakfast was also very good, allthough I miss more greens(vegetables).
Balcony was nice surprise and there was oceanview.
We will come back again next year.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The hotel had great facilities, wonderful staff and we will certainly be back. We treated ourselves to a Junior Suite which was very roomy, spacious, clean and comfortable and the double balcony was lovely. The bed was huge and comfy and the free mini-bar was a nice touch. The only negative that we have about the hotel was the lifts which quite frankly were awful and unreliable but this was just a small frustration in the whole scheme of things.

Great stay at the hotel, near to restaurants and shop, breakfast great, rooms great.

3rd Visit to Occidental and wasn’t up to usual standards. Some staff seemed inconvenienced when asking for information about the hotel. Had a suite on 6th floor of Tower 2 which looked tired and was noisy at night as balcony doors didn’t keep road noise out. Queues for the lifts were really bad at times. Restaurants, swimming pool area and communal toilet cleanliness could not be faulted.

If you like typical all inclusive / touristy hotels then you’d probably like this hotel. To us it felt very touristy, busy and not service-minded at all. The atmosphere at breakfast was chaotic to say the least. And don’t be fooled by the pictures like we did. The nice Balinese sunbeds by the pool cost 50 euros a day to rent - which means that nobody uses them. Unless you pay extra for seaview the view is very poor (parking lots and other buildings). The noise from the other rooms and on the hallway is very loud. There are blackout curtains but they don’t go all the way down to the floor, so lights are coming in anyway. Also lights are coming in from under the door to the hall way.
The staff seemed stressed out and not very friendly overall. (Except the cleaning staff - they were nice, friendly and smiling).
All in all I will not recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Staff super friendly and helpful. Good choices for breakfast and bar and pool area nice and well maintained. Only small drawback was the parking, it’s not owned by the hotel. I used the talk to us service to see if I could purchase a weekly ticket. Was told no and I would need to pay each and every time I left/arrived. Decided to leave the car parked up for the week. Over €160 for parking alone. Would even have been nice to get a discounted rate through the hotel but nothing available.

The staff was rude to my aunt when she was asking basic questions. David and Nuela could have been more respectful in addressing some issues. She asked if they had a spa and were on the beach since the pool closes at 8pm and the reply was did the hotel advertise these amenities. That’s not courteous nor professional. A no would have been sufficient.

Great hotel... perfect location

Hotel lacking in many aspects. No onsite parking as advertised. Parking beneath the hotel is private charging 22€ for a 24htrs period if there is space available. If you need to use the car you risk losing the space and are charged 4€ an hour. Pool is over crowded too many loungers in limited space. Feel like sardines in a can at times. Nightime entertainment only available in weekends and then again just one guy singing spanish classics. The rest of the week make your own fun. Food was very very poor. Left overs from one day recycled for the next day. Theme nights were a joke. They could not even get the Spanish night right. Shame. Stayed at seceral other Barcelo hotels and this one puts the name to shame.

This is a fantastic hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff from the get go.
It is in a very good location, with only a 10-15 min walk into the heart of the town.
I loved the cleanliness and feel of the hotel.
The breakfast was fantastic, in both terms of choice and quality.
Great proximity to the beach also and makes a good choice for both couples and families alike.

The service provided at this hotel resembles a 2 star hotel. Honestly people fall for the pictures of the facilities like gym and pool. Rooms are of bad quality. You can hear the talk on the hallway, doors being opened and closed, u can hear the neighbour room urinating or spitting or conversing. There is no water and no kettle, nothing complimentary at all and not even an iron. If you want to have these, you have to pay 4€ per day for having it. There is toothbrush and vanity kit in toilet but there is no refill even when staying for 8 days like me. I also noticed that there was not being mobbed in the balkony, and everyday there were ants and insects. No room service. No service for luggage. In the heat of July I requested to have a bottle of water from the reception and he started to laugh mockingly. The poolbeds is always reserved by the european turists who occupies it for the whole day by placing a towel and leave for breakfast or even going shopping for a few hours, denying the paying hotel guests who also paid a good amount of money to not have a chance to enjoy the facilities. One of the cleaning lady wiped my table and my Dior powder fell and became crumbles leaving me unable to pack it. It is a 60 euro make up, and the answer from the manager is “we don’t know what happened so we can do nothing about it”. This is outrages. Of course they don’t know what happened, because they hopefully don’t have a camera installed inside my room. I stayed for 12 days, regretful.

Great hotel in general, however the WiFi was terrible. Junior suite was not worth the extra cost for the balcony and the main bar was not available. Entertainment was at best poor and the Arrozante restaurant only open from 13:00 to 16:00 with the main restaurant only providing a buffet service.

We had a great 5 days here, staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel, pool, and rooms very clean.
We stayed half board and the food was great the only downside is they don’t cater very well on evening meals for vegetarians don’t get me wrong there was lots I could eat but no proper vegetarian meals.
Also there was no tea and coffee facilities in the room So if you go take your own 😞
I would definitely return to this hotel as it is a great position straight over the road from the beach 👍 the road is not a busy road.
Easy walking to shopping complex’s and all the amenities around 👍👍👍

Let's start with the elephant in the room: We filtered for adults only on hotels.com and booked Occidental Fuengirola. It's not adults only. The clientele is a mix of Brits treating it as their local pub before and after golfing, business trips and some couples/parents with young children/babies. If you can't stand loud groups of men who golf, go elsewhere. Really.
The hotel is alright. Rooms are ok, beds are not very comfortable and soft at the top but very hard underneath the thin soft top layer. TV has a ton of channels. Bathroom is fine and does the job, but could have done with more light around the mirror. Shower has nice pressure. Minibar fridge is tiny.
Service at the reception is pretty good, helpful and efficient.
Overall positives do not make this a 4 star hotel in my book, more like a 3,5/5. Now let's dive in to the negatives:
Breakfast buffet. Oh my god. Hunger games. The desperation in people and selfishness of how people behave when they have to wait to get bread, eggs, bacon, drinks, fruit and other stuff is sickening. The layout of the breakfast restaurant is not ideal, but I've been to plenty hotels with more guests and smaller areas where you don't fear for your limbs when waiting to get food. It might be a cultural thing with boomer generation Brits acting like neanderthals seeing food for the first time, but it got progressively worse during our week at the hotel. Staff did not do anything to make the buffet work in a more orderly fashion. Outta space

The hotel has two pools but both are not heated and water was cold, we couldn’t enjoy the pool.

Great location, good selection of food & drink at reasonable prices, across the road from the beach, we stayed for a long weekend which was fantastic, also had champagne at breakfast pour yourself!

The hotel is in a great position to walk to everything required in the town eg, bars, restaurants, shops, beach, port, train and bus station. Taxis are immediate.
The hotel is modern and spacious. The bedroom and bathroom was also modern, practical and spacious with a balcony for views of the sea.
The bed was large and extremely comfortable. Pillows too were big and firm and stayed firm. There is a pillow menu but the pillows were perfect.
Housekeeping were great cleaning the room perfectly every day.
Welcoming and extremely helpful and knowledgeable reception staff.
Breakfast buffet was busy with plenty.of choice. I would have liked out door dining but the space to do this was limited. The dining room was welcoming on arrival with plenty of staff replenishing the buffet, clearing tables etc.
The outside areas were modern and clean. Great pool. I didn't sun bathe but there were lots of sun beds.
The outside bar was often busy. The staff there were friendly however, they were often very busy and slightly stressed at times - they could have done with a few more staff to provide a quicker table snd chair service to avoid queues for the bar. Maybe the inside bar could have been used to assist with that service. This isn't a criticism - just a suggestion. Despite stress the staff remained professional even dealing with a rude customer in a nice manner, which i found very kind of them - not sure i could have been so nice.
Loved my holiday.

Nicely refurbished hotel on the sea front, just a 14 minute walk into the old town. We had a junior suite which was lovely however to use the safe you had to pay extra.
The pool area is gated and does not open until 10am which we felt was quite ridiculous. By 9.45am there was a large queue of people waiting to get a sunbed. It’s hot enough to be by the pool much earlier so why restrict the entry time? This has put us off returning to a Barceló hotel.
Breakfast was ok, rather tasteless, and the coffee was poor.

Nice hotel.on the beach, rooms lovely big comfy bed and pillows. Breakfast good but dinner (buffet) average, not a great of choice, would have preferred to go B&B as lots of great restaurants nearby.

Hotel elevators are really out serviced. Small, slow and inefficient.
8.0 / 10.0
Overall a good hotel. A couple of things let it down. Dinner food options could be more varied. Some of the staff seemed to want you out of their way. They also didn't turn breakfast tables around quick enough. Large male groups were a touch dominating particularly in the social areas. We wouldn't return for that reason. Good points: reception staff and housekeeping excellent, nice facilities and communal spaces, clean, room was modern and well equipped, right next to the beach, great breakfast options although can get busy. A lovely hotel with a couple of minor issues for us however large males groups was the key issue for us.
