Incredibly located on the Cowgate, the Stay Central was a short walk to anything you could want to see in Edinburgh. Very clean, updated, and comfortable, I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Edinburgh!

We have been travelling for more than 40 years, and my wife and I both agree, that this is possibly the best place we've stayed. Modern and clean rooms, and a short walk to the Royal Mile. There is also a great bar/restaurant downstairs.

If you’re looking for a party, this is the hotel for you! Music in the evenings, big screen watching of sports events, lots of young people hanging out.
If you’re looking for a quiet night’s rest, suggest you avoid this place as the music goes late into the evening.

The hotel was well located, but our room was very noisy during the Fringe festival: their is an outdoor dancing next to the building. We heard music every night till 3am.
Our room cards stopped working 5 times during our visit, so we had to visit the reception often. Elevator was broken for a day which meant you had to find your way through a labyrinth of stairs and corridors.
Breakfast was OK, but when you went around 10:30 most of it was already gone.

Very noisy until the early hours of the morning with a local disco next door. The double bed was very small

Perfect place to use as a base for exploring. Next door to a very lively bar so don’t expect perfect quiet. Though we managed to sleep no problem.

This hotel is NOT family friendly. The "disco" bar next to the hotel is open until 5am and has no semblance of a decent decibel to their music. No where on any website does it state that some of there rooms are directly above the bar (which ours was). The hotel has agreements with the bar so they inherently have a FLAWED business model. Their answer to the music is to "provide you earplugs". Talk about a lack of care for their patrons. I think they could easily spend a little money to completely soundproof the areas where people are trying to sleep. In addition to the music, we really "appreciated" the bar fight with the bouncers at 345am. If we would have known about the bar or the chance that we would have to compete our sleep with moronic drunk bar patrons, I would absolutely have booked elsewhere. And would recommend anyone else do so as well.

It's a very good Hotel with great location, the Very Very bad thing is that is next to a Disco-Bar with super loud music until 2 or 3 a.m.. It was so loud that our room vibrated.
4.0
Great area and well appointed rooms. We liked the fact they offer rooms with multiple beds, but bathroom ventilation was poor and the glass door on the bathroom does not work well with the family
4.0
Great location, but room too small and not possible to open windows.

Hotel close to city centre situated beside 2 bars made the music kept you up at night. If you're an early sleeper this is not the place for you.
First night the music went on into past midnight. Second night the music was just a little. I stay with family of 4 in the second floor Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Overall not too bad of a hotel just the noise let it down. Price was decent for the time of year July.

This place is a short walk from the castle which is a plus. But it feels like an upscale hostel.

Room was quirky and comfortable. Access was via the courtyard to a busy noisy bar which we were warned about and to expect some noise. However we were disturbed by the sound of furniture being dragged around til after 3am and then the same thing at 9.30 so we didn’t get much sleep. Wanted a shower before we left but no hot water and the same with the sink so we left feeling grubby. Steps to our room were shared with the toilets from the bar/courtyard so on leaving we found them very sticky and strewn with empty glasses and cans that hadn’t been cleaned up. Trip hazard. Mentioned it at check out and asked for a discount to be told the manager wasn’t available so we just left. Location great. Very expensive for what we got though.

Real nice place to stay in Edinburgh very central to the old town plenty of good food and drink

This property was very inconveniently placed. There was no parking. No towels in the room. The shower was broken and there was limited hot water. This was a bad experience.

Very noisy with bar next door although the bar was great when you were I. It but not to sleep. Room had teeny weeny window so not good if you’re claustrophobic but the reception staff was really great. I would not stay here again.

Super cosy place surrounded by crowded streets.

Up and coming area, with many dining and bar options, youthful people and centric. However, half of my stay was less than desirable. For the first night the AC didn’t work, the phone didn’t work, I had to sleep with the window open to counter how hot it was and it was very noisy downstairs (because of the eurocup). The internet is horrible. For the second night all problems had been solved except for the internet. The idea and concept of the hotel is amazing but it could use a few adjustments.

Excellent location. Terrific staff. We were able to get into our room a little early.
We were lucky to be in a room at the back of the hotel. We were not really impacted by the bar/nightclub venue music next door. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.
I would stay here again. The location is ideal. We walked everywhere. We felt safe.
There was a fridge, coffee maker and a rain shower.

Nice place with fun features. Definitely for a younger crowd

Floors were creaky, but the rooms were nice. It was close to the royal mile but there was no easy way to get there without going up a very steep hill. Still, I’d stay again without hesitation.

Great location, clean and comfortable rooms. Exceeded mt expectations. In two stays I had one room where I couldn't hear any noise at all from the club, and one where I had loud noise until about 230am. So just check location of room if you want quiet.

The hotel itself was fine. What wasn't fine was that I could not get ANY wifi in my room, the shower in the bathroom was very slippery an there was no rubber bathmat to make the surface safe and no grab bars at all. But the real problem was the outside seating area adjoining the hotel. By day it was a pleasant place to sit and order a burger or whatever. By evening however it transformed into a crazy busy nightclub with super LOUD music and a jam packed area filled with boozing young people who partied until 1 pm all three nights we stayed there. The music was so loud we couldn't get to sleep. This was mentioned nowhere on the website. If you are over 25 years old? STAY AWAY

Great friendly service, really comfy beds, great shower , love that you can hook your phone up to the room speakers via Bluetooth and the location is incredible - the only thing I’d say is it’s not one for light sleepers as there’s noise until 3 am at weekends - I’ll be back, I’ll just remember ear plugs!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Easy to get around

Spiders in the bathroom, no cleaning service - just towels change, awful breakfast service.

A good place for short stay

Music playing until 1am very very loud , guests running around screaming

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here. They describe themselves as a cross between a boutique hotel and a hostel and that is about right. Our room was clean and very comfortable

This place is overrated and overpriced for what it offfers. Rooms are ok, large tv, fridge and a/c, however cold air come from the windows. The breakfast was poor and definitely overpriced. The staff was very young, generally friendly and kind but could see lack of professional training. Overall an ok stay but value provided not worth the money.

Do NOT stay here if you want any sleep or quiet. The bar next door has a late licence, and has extremely loud music on till at least 2am. There is no watning of this, but even if a hotel doesnt want to broadcast that kind of negative aspect, the least they can do is a) improve the sound proof in rooms including sounfproof/light reducing curtain or blind and b) put carpet on staircase which is in use 24/7 (think drunk people at 3am stomping/clattering up uncarpeted stairs just behind the wall where your bed is). Awful night. At least warn guests!!
4.0
The “full size” bed was two twin beds pushed together with mattresses that looked older than me and a mattress topper that looked equally old and used so was extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioning didn’t work at all and the windows wouldn’t stay open. The wifi didn’t work in the room nor did cell service which was very frustrating because I wasn’t able to plan the next day of my trip in my room at night. Definitely for a much younger crowd.

Very close to main attractions. Clean and very small room. Good breakfast.

the room was forgotten to be cleaned on the first day. the room is located in another building which is sharing the same floor with the toilets of bar. unfortunately it smells. because of the customers, it was noisy. highly disappointing experience...

Quite good , good to stay. All attractions are within walk distance. People are nice .

No one at the counter for 15 minutes, no bathroon for guests, told we had to unzip our beds to get Twins beds, no linen for two mattresses, towels were stained. After a long day traveling it took 1.5 hours to make the room livable.

Staff were very helpful

Right next door to The Three Sisters and amidst university student accommodation so felt lively and friendly. My room was at the back so very quiet. Breakfast great with full Scottish option including haggis. All the staff friendly.
