Excellent service. The views and the pool are the reasons to stay here. It might be budget motel accommodation, but cant complain with a full kitchen in unit and the beach step from my sliding door. We had an excellent time and enjoyed our weekend immensely!

The stay here was impeccable matched only by the service of the employees. Breakfast was very good. Biscuits and gravy on the weekends so I mean come on come on come on

I've stayed at the Makia many times over the last 6 years.
My wife has been staying with them over the past 40 years.
The building is showing its age.. the owners are doing their best to keep up with it.. the newly remodeled kitchen & breakfast area looks great.
Our room was clean.. maintaince had to replace the refrigerator during our stay.
The view of the beach was great! Our bed very comfortable. Hotel.com said hotel was pet friendly but did not tell us there is a $25.00 per day charge for pets. Even for service dogs .
Would I choose the Makia again? Most definitely!

Family had a great time Labor Day weekend, the price was fair this may be our new go to motel.

We go to Ormond beach at least every other month. This an older place but the price is good and the rooms are clean. This is the only place we stay at when we go to Ormond beach.

Third world country stay...the place was dilapidated, dirty, my partner received bites over both legs, we think the bedding. We were ground floor Ocean Front, with a patio that smelled like urine...
I have never had a more beautiful view and access to the ocean...complete opposite of the facilities...

Absolute horrible experience. I stay in about 70 hotels a year. This by far was my worst experience. First night there I'm sleeping it's midnight and a whole family barges through the front door. The front desk gave them the wrong room here I am at midnight sleeping and tired my first night there naked in bed and someone barges through my front door. Second night it rains outside the back door floods the bathroom walls are leaking in the front door floods and there's no towels because they're washing all the towels apparently. Not one time in the 4 days I was there could you find parking you have over a hundred rooms and you only have roughly 30 parking spots everybody else has to park across the street. Mind you this is a very busy street this is a five-lane highway so you have to carry your stuff across the street when you're getting there and carry your stuff across the street when you leave. None of this will make a difference to most of you that are reading this if you're broke you'll stay here with the rest of the broke families that will literally go put this $100 night hotel on their credit card just so they can stay on the beach and the utilize the pool. Understand you would not be the only broke family doing this The pool is designed for 20 people and the entire time I was there it had every family that was here inside the pool area absolutely the most horrible experience I've ever experienced in my entire life

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was nice and knowledgable. It was the first hotel that I've been to the actually served more than a continental breakfast for breakfast at a fair price which was right on the beach. No complaints here.

I stayed here a few years back and had a horrible extent this time was better. The room was clean, service was good. The room we were in was in need of repair, the front door and bathroom door had to be slammed to close. The kitchen cabinet doors didn’t close and there was 1 fork in the kitchen. Breakfast needs eggs added back.

The window curtains had mold on it the bathroom was with rust and the bathroom door was very dirty

We stay at Makai 3 to 4 times per year. Beach is easily accessible. Within reasonable walking distance to some restaurants. The front desk personnel is welcoming. Shout out to Lisa! Breakfast is ok, could use more fresh fruit options. Pool is great, my kids had a blast! Of course with all and any hotel, it does need updating but for the price, ya can’t beat it. See ya in November!

Budget friendly oceanfront rooms. The hotel is older and and that was fine by me, but cigarette butts were left in a dirty coke can and on the balcony, the walls were dirty with other people's hair and so was the floor. One walk, barefoot through the room, and my feet were black and sandy, and I hadn't gone to the beach yet. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and helpful. The lamps were so rusty I was afraid to plug anything into them, however, I know they were hit by Hurricane Ian and as such, are still rehabilitating the hotel. The room should have been cleaner though, and that is what I didn't like. It was as if the floor hadn't been mopped in a long time. The beds were fine though.

So, I have to say that this was a very last minute booking on a busy weekend. It is right on the beach lending to a beautiful view. That being said the room seemed fairly clean (not to my personal liking - I didn’t feel comfortable eating in there) extremely old, dated and patched together. It is in severe need of an upgrade in every indoor area. The staff were very nice. The outside pool area was decent.

My room had a kitchenette that had a door that simply lead to the other room next . Definitely unsafe and unsure. Toilet was wobbly. Bed was old and bowled in

The place was nasty even refugees in a war zone wouldn't stay here not even 1 picture match the reality.
Roaches a lot.
A homeless under a bridge is better off than this

Great view from balcony room. Room clean. Hot water in shower and plenty of it. Hotel is slightly dated but every time I go back it looks like repairs and upgrading are being done. Enjoyed the Hot tub and pool. Had the basics needed for breakfast.

It was great that there wasnt many people there so it was quieter than usual. I've stayed here b4. Loved that it accommodated dogs & now you can take your dogs on a leash on the beach!. Didnt have maid service to clean your room. They only give you more towels if you need it. They mainly clean rooms after they are vacated. I had to ask them to please come sweep the room & clean the bathroom. You always bring in lots of sand when you stay on the beach. The maid was very accommodating. They are in the process of if redoing the property from what I heard. They have an elevator which helps but the walls were gutted so it looked like they were going to get a new one??? For breakfast, they didnt have waffles for 3 of the 5 days we were there. Would be nice to have a meat wether its bacon or sausage or biscuits & gravy!

You get what you pay for. It is run down and in need of some TLC. However, great location right on the beach, nice pool, good breakfast are all worth the price. I would stay here again.

It was a comfortable stay. We made a last minute decision to get away for a couple of days. We've frequented this establishment several times in the past.
Check-in was easy and friendly. Parking is limited, but we made do. Breakfast was the basics with cereal, bagels, pastries, and a make your own waffle station. It was clean and the attendants were friendly.
Our room was dated, but clean and comfortable. The king-size bed had a dip in it, but isn't horrible yet. Husband thought it was on the softer side. Bathroom was small and had a mildewed/stained shower liner. The toilet had difficulty flushing and was troublesome all weekend. It was reported and an attempt was made to fix it but nothing was resolved. We reported it again at check-out. The room had a kitchenette that was functional, but lacked in basic utensils. One plate, one cup, just a few pot/pan options... We didn't utilize it other than the refrigerator.
The pool was basically clean, but the residue on the side (oily residue from bodys/sunscreen) hasn't been scrubbed off in a while and stained my husband's suit when he sat on the ledge. He enjoyed the hot tub several times. Kids were being kids, but mostly watched by their adults.
You can tell improvements have been made since last summer and we would visit again in the future.

Beautiful beach, very nice pool, our room looked over the Atlantic, firm bed, room was clean, all good.

Loved that it was right on the beach, also that the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is definitely dated. There was a sign stating since 1965, yes, in our opinion it shows its age.
Clean enough, no bugs and towels were very freah smelling. A floor at the beach would be difficult to make spotless, but our feet were black walking around only our room after a shower.

They can definitely use remodeling and their cleaning personnel need to step up their games. The pool and hot tub were great. And the location is perfect. And for the price we got we would stay again

I am giving 5 stars for management. I had an issue and they helped me out and at the end of the day that’s what matters to me.

Building interior and exterior in disrepair, multiple cockroaches found in room, hotel does not have enough bath linens on hand to provide fresh towel sets to guests, other hotel guests were allowed to be very noisy well past a reasonable time.

We had a patio setting outside of our room. The grass needed to be cut. Inside of the room we had black mold in the bathroom between the tub and sink and our shower curtain had black mold as well. Told the staff they moved us to another room which also had black mold. The model wasn’t the cleanest at all.. lots of work and updates need made as well as a good cleaning

This property was really run down. We actually switched hotels. We couldn’t stay there.. The only thing that was excellent was their staff. They were all very nice, helpful and so friendly.

We stayed here last year and got a great room and had a blast. This year our room was terrible. Smelled so strong of rotten eggs, ac outside flooded our patio with nasty green water the entire time. My dad was next door with the same room and no smells no problem. They couldn’t do anything about it and just said “the room will have a slight mildew smell” but it was breathtaking rotten egg! All that to say we look forward to seeing them renovate the place because they have the best staff and an awesome location and price. I’m one to scrimp out on the hotel so I can splurge elsewhere and I guess this just comes with it so I can’t complain too much.

Right from the start the woman who checked me in was awesome. She was quick, friendly and accommodating. I think she may have been a supervisor??? We had parking for our semi-truck and trailer across the street. Our room was spacious and clean. The view was amazing from our ocean front balcony. We will return

First the pictures online were very deceiving their hotels.com The rooms were very small The stove was covered in grease and not clean the refrigerator was not working due to the freezer frozen all solid with ice there was sand all over the floor they don't have blankets it's like you're sleeping with a tablecloth the toilet wasn't working was constantly running The room was not clean like it should be I had little creepy German roaches which when I got home nothing came in my house and so I made sure there's no bugs in my bags overall stay was okay because it was beachfront property but not worth the price it says under new ownership which has been about a year now with no upgrades yet The elevator was all torn apart like they were trying to remodel it but apparently it's been like that for a while from other customers that have been there in the past year we had four people in the room two adults and two children when we got in there there was only one spoon one fork one plate one bowl and one glass I will probably not stay here again due to the cleanliness of the rooms and the creepy crawly German roaches

Place is a basic beach side hotel. Probably could use some updating but was clean and staff is always good and decent breakfast. Cant beat it for the price.

Once you realize that this property has changed hands, you’ll realize that they are in the process of revitalizing the property. Several changes are being worked on. Access to the beach is amazing.

The location is one of the best. It has everything you need. Staff very nice. Lounge room getting better every year. Breakfast was good and free. Hotel should have a deep clean. Beds and furniture are wore out and dirty. The bathroom is good.
The kitchenette was not clean. Needs a deep deep clean in general.

The worst hotel I've ever stayed at. So bad infact we left at 10pm with a 2 hour drive home. From the moment we walked into our room our AC was broken. We gave them hours to fix it and when we went to check about it we were made to feel like it was our fault. We have three kids and I'm 6 months pregnant. The blonde lady at the front desk this morning was very nice but the guy in the afternoon was very rude. Our keys stopped working for our door, as well as my mom's and he blamed us. Our neighbors had the same issue so it wasn't just us. The view is amazing and the pool is nice but that's about all the positives I can say. The shower curtain had mold, lights are broken, the elevator is absolutely horrible, the rooms smell horrible, things are just broken thru out the hotel. If you're looking to have a party spot to pass out at this is your place. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I know for $130 on the beach you're not going to get a 5 star hotel but this was beyond ridiculous. Our room was easily hotter than it was outside. If you're "renovating" maybe it's better you quit renting out the rooms that absolutely suck.
