This is a very special little hotel. First, the staff was so friendly. We got there in a rental car, and I was nervous driving on the narrow streets of the historic center. The garage is a block or two away. I drove to the hotel first to drop our bags and ask about the parking. A woman came out and walked ahead of me to the garage, and all the way down until I was neatly in a space. We had the good fortune to see an extension of the Fallas that are typically associated with Valencia. Our room directly overlooked the street where the procession took place. Then we went up to the gorgeous rooftop deck with a view of the whole square to watch the festivities in comfort. We then stayed for wine and delicious tapas with a view. Our room was comfortable, spacious, impeccably clean, and surprisingly quiet given the location. We had a wonderful experience.

Lovely rooftop pool; lounge chairs needed a bit of cleaning. Room was comfortable and quiet. Walkable to restaurants and cafes. Staff friendly and helpful.

The battery went dead on the door key card . The front desk gentleman handled it well and then treated me to a glass of wine. Very kind. A party was held in the restaurant downstairs and was very loud. I wasn’t able to take my siesta. I guess i should have just joined the party. I would still recommend the hotel. It is next to the cathedral- so the bells chime’

The hotel was beautiful. The staff couldn't do enough to make your stay perfect. The pool upstairs was a real delight small but adequate. The roof top at night was beautiful. In the old quarter and great access. Highly recommend this hotel . You get used to the charming bells .

The area around the hotel is very run down, Being right next to the Cathedral the bells ring out every 15minutes between the hours of 8am till Midnight and is loud.

Extremely helpful staff who were always willing to assist and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is well placed and everything within reasonable walking distance. Despite its central location the hotel is very quiet

We had room 12 which was next to the cleaners cupboard with noise early morning from buckets filling up. A bit too noisy and not great when you're a light sleeper. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so we couldn't change rooms. There were two events during our stay. I could see the benefits of booking for social events. But notice of these would have been good as this meant the restaurants were unavailable which we didnt know until trying to access them. However I have to say the hotel was really good, a great location and accessible to local attractions. Breakfast was great and off menu needs catered for. The staff were excellent! Especially cleaning and catering staff. We didn't hear the cathedral bell hardly. I'd go back but would want to stay in a different room.

The hotel looks good on the internet but falls way short of expectations in reality. Our room was tired and quite basic with poor furnishings. The worst part is that parking is around the corner in a public car park. At a cost of 25 Euros per day. This isn’t mentioned on the booking site. Certainly wouldn’t go back.

Location very good. Room 24, large with a great balcony & view of the Cathedral Plaza. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss some mornings. Only one member of staff on for the first hour covering the restaurant, bar area and outdoor tables. Disappointed that the rooftop terraza/pool area was not open after 7.00pm. It would have great to have that facility available to enjoy a bottle of wine, read a book or watch the sun go down. There is no resident's lounge area available. There are only twenty rooms and there is a lot of emphasis on using the restaurant and bar for weddings, meetings, confirmation and celebratory parties, etc. Our room was just above the reception area and the noise and loss of facilities over many hours and days during our stay of eleven nights was quite significant. Children's entertainers hosted groups of children for hours in the Plaza right below our room and of course the facilities of the restaurant and bar were both out of bounds on a number occasions over the length of our stay The outdoor bar in front of the hotel was closed often without any apparent rationale especially when big functions were going on. I had one complaint when I queried why the price of the same drinks that I purchased in the Hotel's bar on consecutive nights differed by £3. I didn't get a reasonable explanation and didn't drink in the hotel after that. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel but 5 nights would have been more than enough to cover ALL the delights of Almeria.

Charming hotel in historic location. Stayed over a weekend and expected noise (prior reviews noted church bells) though bells were quiet in comparison to the noise level within the hotel. It seemed as though every possible noise was audible in my 2nd floor room and jet lag naps were out-of-the-question. Saturday night was especially loud with private dinner parties held on the 1st floor. Service was just okay. Maids were friendly and helpful and the rest seemed indifferent.

The hotel staff were excellent and extremely helpful. We had difficulty finding the hotel in the narrow one way streets near the cathedral at night. Finding the parking garage was even more of a challenge. Unless you have a GPS in your car, this can be a challenging hotel to find. Everything else about the hotel was excellent

My husband and I stayed just one night at Hotel Catedral. We were very happy with the service of the front desk attendants and restaurant staff - they were eager to help us and went above and beyond what was necessary to meet our requests and were very forgiving of our faulty Spanish language skills. The hotel is located pretty centrally. We were able to walk to the harbor and the main stretch of restaurants and shops. I read someone's complaint about the loudness of the plaza in front of the hotel - I could see how that could be a problem if you want to keep your window open, but we found that the windows were extraordinarily good at cancelling outside noise. My only complaint - which has nothing to do with the hotel itself - was finding parking. Be advised that if you do stay at this hotel, you should call ahead and ask for directions to the nearest parking structure. Unless you GPS system is better than ours was (which it probably will be!). Also, know that this is not a luxury hotel, but for its price and good location, is a very good choice.

A beautiful hotel, lovely room with huge bed, overlooking the cathedral. Really nice food and very welcoming staff. A bit away from other attractions though.

A very nice smaller hotel (20-30 rooms) located right next to the cathedral. During the evenings, the hotel bar is located on the small square where the cathedral and hotel is situated at.
Almeria is on and off somewhat rough and climate is of course very hot during the summer which is nice to come back to the air conditioned and surprisingly large room which included not only computer and sitting area but also a full size bathtub.
We ended up staying an extra night, thanks to the high standard of the hotel.

Great hotel on the Cathedral square, very friendly staff, very clean and well maintained. The restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner though the latter was a bit expensive. The sun terrace was very handy if you dont want to trek to the beach. As with everywhere in Almeria a few words of Spanish make your life much easier.

I was a little concerned when I read some of the reviews about rude and unhelpful staff. However, what I found was very different. I suspect the difficulty that other people have encountered is with the language. There is very little English spoken at the hotel. In fact virtually none. My spanish is not great but it was enough to get by and they seemed to appreciate the effort. A number of people mentioned breakfast as being a problem. Breakfast is a little early for those on holiday so I wonder whether it had perhaps finished by the time those that have complained had got there. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast - hot food / fruit / pastry / cereals - the list goes on. The rooms were very modern and comfortable. There is a computer in every room to chack emails. The service at the bar is often a little slow and there really was no English spoken so you will need to get your phrase book out there! We were in Almeria for fiesta time (27/8/09 to 29/8/09). It was a wonderful weekend where all the locals were dressed in traditional clothes. There were bands playing in the streets and even performers on stilts! The town was realy buzzing all weekend. I would definately recommend it.

I chose Hotel Catedral because it was one of the lowest priced hotels in Almeria, but it also looked like it had great character and a gorgeous setting. I was very happy with this hotel. It was right next door to the famous Cathedral on a huge plaza. The restaurant had patio seating at night and an indoor bar and restaurant. The rooms were modern and spacious. Each room had a computer with internet access, but also wifi available. The hotel was clean, quiet, and had many upgrades. Free bottles of water on each floor, fresh flowers, many "pretty" things. The reception hosts did not speak strong English, but were able to understand my needs. My only concern was the neighborhood seemed to be a bit dicey. I don't know that it really was, but it wasn't in the hub of the restaurant and bar area. Since dinner/tapas at night doesn't get into full swing until about 10:00p.m., I had to walk about 4-5 blocks on empty alleys or streets. I never felt in danger, but did watch my surroundings. The walk to the main district is about 5-10 minutes. The cruise/ferry port is about a 5-10 minutes walk, and the beaches 15-20 minute walk. If I were to return to Almeria i would definitely stay here again.

All staff were miserable, I haven't seen a smiley face throughout our stay(6 days). There was no one to ask for what they offered as freshly made breakfast. They didn't have tea for 3 days. We stayed on the top floor and couldn't sleep two days as there was a party on the terrace and staff cleaning it up made so much noise. I would never go back there again. Wrost customer service I've ever experienced!

The Husa Cathedral is a modern hotel in the oldest part of Almeria. Consequently it is necessary to drive through tiny winding streets to find it, and the parking for the hotel is two small streets away. That aside, the hotel is smart, clean, very modern, and gives you a computer in your room to check your email. Our room was on the top floor, and had a balcony which overlooked the cathedral and square. If you like to watch an old town operate from the comfort of modern surroundings, then this hotel is for you.

Area local to hotel was very pretty, with a good atmosphere in the plaza outside. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, with a great breakfast included.

Booked this hotel having looked at f few reviews of hotels in Almeria.. What a great find. The hotel is central, easy to find using town signage, and hotel parking very nearby. We met up wth friends, and were heading out ito town for dinner, however, we ended up eating in the hotel's own restaurant on the Plaza outside, alongside the Cathedral. Service throughout was excellent. Rooms re lovely, as is the small, but adequate jacuzzi/pool on the roof terrace. Would definitely go back. Excellent value.
