I stayed her for 3 nights. A few items were missing (stolen) from my room. These items lost had sentimental value to me as well as it cost me $200. I told the front desk twice and was told that management would look into it and get back to me. Two weeks later after asking the front desk twice and emailing the hotel, I heard nothing. I know that I will never get back what I lost but though the hotel would take responsibility for my lost items. Apparently, they don't care. They could have at least credited my room or even an apology. Be careful of your valuable stuff if anyone ever decides to stay here. I have stayed at Don Chan every year for the past 5 years but will never stay again because they don't value their customers. The sauna also had no smoking signs up. People were smoking in there. I can't deal with smoke. I told the staff and they didn't care to say anything to the smokers either.

I will not stay at this hotel again ever, their bed hard like rock and the air condition is not cool at all, I had slept in the room with 26 C. It was hotter than the temperature outside. After they moved us to another room, there was nothing different, bed the same, AC still the same. I was turned it down to 5 C, but it still stay at 26 C the whole night, it is horrible. This hotel is not even suppose to rate as 2 stars.

Stayed many times at Don Chan Palace and found staff and hotel to be of high quality. The location is a small distance (.5km) from most conveniences, but they provide a shuttle at regular times to make getting around easier. Staff are very polite and helpful.

Terrible experience. The property is located in the middle of nowhere and caters primarily two Chinese and Korean tour groups which is perfectly fine but everything in the hotel is done with that in mind. Horrible internet and no cable TV service other than Chinese language channels and absolutely nothing in English or any other language. Pool and fitness area are terrible with equipment that may be 50 years old. Breakfast buffet also terrible with a lack of protein of any kind. In other words noodles breads some fruits and vegetables but almost nothing in terms of protein. And I would be remiss if I did not point out that the worst thing of all was the mattress which was obviously a slab of stone covered by a piece of foam. I enjoy a firm mattress but this was something I had never experienced before. Coming from someone who has certainly slept on the floor using a thin futon I have to say this was the most Rock Solid that I have ever slept on and it made for horribly sleepless nights.

Very good in general. The elevators are slow. Need more electric outlets, The locations of current outlets are inconvenient. The shower water power is not strong enough.

This hotel is very old, and need a lot off renovation. The staff is amazing and the rooms are very good. But the swinging pool is horrible.

It's a big hotel in the area, with lots of conference rooms. Hotel staff are professional. The rooms are quiet, even close to the elevator. it's about 15 minutes from the airport. The only thing needs to be improved is its wifi speed.

Hotel in good location. Good view of Mekong river and city. Quiet area. The service and staff were excellent. Food good. Honestly a little disappointed in the condition of room for a 5 star hotel. Carpet looked dirty. Had stains. Bathroom tile around tub had a little mold. Bed was hard. Furniture old. Maybe we were given older room. There were a lot of high end cars parked in front. Even a rolls royce.

Hotel satisfactory: not centrally located and despite characteristics of the hotel on various reviews, the hotel would be best described as a 3 and half star.
The only thing going for the hotel is the excellent staff.
The restaurant menu was presented as three separate menus.... poor!..... should be pulled together as one menu... with headings as APPETISERS, MAINS (Laotian, Thai, Chinese, Western etc), DESSERTS
Breakfast food range extensive but of average quality.
Strange that airport transfer to hotel was $10, yet complimentary back to the airport.

I've stayed in a hundred hotels in the past year or so and this was the absolute BEST. And the cost was very low for what I considered a 5 star hotel in every way.

Apprehensive first. But after checking into corner room 9011 with rear window facing Mekong river and side window facing pagodas and temples, settled comfortably. I have enjoyed Viantine only because of my stay here.

My wife and I stayed for a week. The hotel was obviously built to a very high standard and the lobby is very impressive. The rooms are large and well appointed, but it is not hard to find little details, such a cracks in some tiles or poorly reapplied bath sealant the indicates the hotel is in need a redecoration - but I have some sympathy as to do so to the original standard would be truly expensive, perhaps not making good business sense.
The staff are exceedingly polite and try hard to help, but don't expect a high level of spoken English. Some staff can converse but many can't.
The food served reflects the geographic location, although there is a large range of food, only a smaller range is familiar to those with european tastes.
We had a room on the tenth floor. From there the views are impressive, but the fit of the double glazing is not as it once was and so there is quite a lot of noise at night, both car/bike engines and music.

The customer service is outstanding. The room was clean and luxury. The staff are friendly. The location is great for food and shopping. Best part of all I was upgraded to the deluxe suite for no extra charge for some reason. So I was very happy with what I have paid for the room. Cheers konrad piotrowski
