Great place to stay close to the centre of Funchal. Lovely helpful and friendly staff. Bravo!!

Absolute fantastic property right downtown Funchal, complimentary parking for guests and the room was large impeccably clean and beautiful. This property allows you to walk out the door to a myriad of restaurants and stores. Diana at reception was incredibly helpful.
If you need Laundry there’s The Laundry Room is the place to go walking distance they provide detergent and are great.
The roof top bar and pools are stunning with city views and an abundant menu. I cannot recommend enough.

Overall, very good experience. The hotel was in a great location to get about and explore all of old Funchal by foot And access taxis and public transport and cable cars for any other trips. It was located inside on the edge of a large shopping mall, which was very convenient if you wanted to pick up any bits and pieces.
The cons: I found the lighting in the rooms very dark and not very functional. There was a slight issue with the cleaning of the bathrooms. I was grateful for the attentive staff at the front desk who looked at all my concerns and addressed each one and extra things like kettles and coat hangers et cetera were provided on request. Overall, a little bit dated in decor, i.e. stuck in the noughties and sometimes a little noisy because of its location but that’s a choice you make for city hotel Convenience.
No Jim and it was not advertised so I had to go looking for somewhere to use for my stay. Very small pool area area upstairs on the rooftop not very functional.
Pros: Great hotel staff, very attentive. Good choice of breakfast for an inner city hotel. Was offered a complimentary upgrade. Concierge were very helpful. I needed a gym due to the above situation for which I paid €25 for a weeks membership of a fantastic gym only five minutes walk from the hotel.
Overall, I would recommend the hotel for value, convenience

No gym available at this property they should remove it from their list of amenities

This hotel is brilliantly placed in the heart of Funchal. Great breakfast, extremely convenient parking, rooms were large and well equipped. The roof top bar and pool area was much better than in the images with brilliant views.

The hotel is allocated a little strange on top of a mall, but as soon you enter the reception one level above another world reveals itself. This hotel is close to perfect buildt on the base of passion for vine. If you enjoy the drink of the gods, a visit is a no-brainer.

Finding the entry to the hotel was a bit of a challenge but one we were there we enjoyed our stay.
Good breakfast buffet. Great location in the city, close to parks, quaint streets & restaurants.
Helpful, friendly staff, except for the pool bar service was slow, not friendly.

Could not book a table in the hotel restaurant (“UVA”). Hotel entrance difficult to find

Lovely stay. The staff were so helpful and helped us arrange travel even before we arrived.

Hotel in great location in centre of Funchal. Staff were brilliant throughout. Rooms were a good size and bathroom area large, minor issue with glass fronted toilet door, could close but no lock and gaps around door. Not happy that whilst tea and coffee facilities provided, charge of 1 euro for replacement tea bag & coffee tube meant we simply purchased our own at vastly reduced cost at supermarket located next door in shopping centre. Overall had a fantastic stay, didn't have to check out of room until 12pm & allowed to use shower facilities in Spa as weren't leaving hotel until 6pm so enjoyed a great final day around the pool.

Lost count of the number of times we have stayed at The Vine.
Superb hotel, big enough to have good facilities, but small enough to feel special. Brilliant staff****

I was expecting a lot more. It was sold as a boutique high end luxury hotel, it was nice, but the decor is terrible. The hallways are decorated in black pebbles which makes it dark and uninviting. The bedrooms are trying to be unique and boutique but the finish is a bit cheap. The wiring and sockets are poorly integrated at the ends of the beds and look messy and unfinished and the bedside lamps have cheap plastic shades with stark white lighting. The wall light switches are difficult to use and look unfinished like they need a cover over them. Overall not worth the money, especially when I stayed at the Savoy up the road for less money and significantly more luxury. However, it's not a bad hotel and the staff were lovely and very helpful.

Great hotel, great position, lovely staff, very disappointed the pool was out of action as this was one of primary reasons for choosing the Vine, Funchal

Nice stay, great service to f the staff.
The room was very nice and comfortable, and on the other hand very noisy - the glasses needed to be replaced to a double glass to prevent the noise.

Beautiful property. Comfortable bed. Amazing bathtub & bathroom. It was difficult to navigate getting into the building from the parking garage & the elevators in parking garage felt scary/unsafe. Overall I would stay here again!

Thankfully I found the hotel parking and a very friendly hotel staff met me in the car park to help with luggage. That was very thoughtful as it is tricky to find your way to the hotel lift and across a courtyard to the hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. Wasn't a big fan of the lava pebble floor in the bathroom area...hard on the feet. The breakfast options and food was amazing. Very friendly morning staff. The only disappointment was the rooftop pool was closed - they gave a very limited voucher for a drink. I had a massage at the spa on a day it rained. The spa staff were not very friendly - the massage was just ok. The therapist had no personality and seemed to be just going through the motions until her time was up. The spa does not meet a 5 star hotel standard. The location is fantastic for walking to get anywhere for food, drinks, shopping, tours. Did not dine at the rooftop restaurant.

Outstanding property! The staff were always pleasant and helpful, the restaurant was 5 star all the way. It was perfectly located for all the main restaurants, shopping and attractions.

Wonderful staff

Rooms are large but nonfunctional - a large bathtub with no privacy does not make sense. One bathrobe was dirty or stained and should never have been delivered to the room. Breakfast was very good - front desk very helpful. The location is perfect.

Staff were exceptionally. Beautiful property and very central to city and activities

The Vine is our go to hotel in Madeira. Comfortable, clean, modern and not too large.
Situated in the center of Funchal, away from the 'hotel district' and an easy walk to parks, museums, bars, restaurants and the sea front.
Infinity pool and bar on the roof along with a fine dining restaurant and 360 degree views of Funchal.
A free to use Jacuzzi and steam room alongside the Spa, which has a range of unique Spa treatments, which are highly recommended.
Top of the list has to be the staff. Nothing is too much trouble, they are friendly, knowledgeable and always welcoming.

Great location in the center of town with walking access to the rest. Good for a short trip or make use of the parking included for day trips. Easy access.

Great design and very friendly staff. Also really good with the parking area.
Breakfast was very good as well!

The staff were super nice and helpful. They even packed breakfast for us because our flight was leaving really early. The location is optimal if you want to stay in the Old Town. Nice shops and restaurants were within walking distance. Having a mall at the ground floor was a plus for late snacks and food.

Hotel probably furnished by an artist, with little practical knowledge. Beautiful rooms, but much wasted space (huge bath) and manual needed to control lighting!
Staff exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient.
Fabulous breakfast.
Hotel decor is stunning -probably won some awards.

Great stay - fantastic location with lots around. A very large selection available for breakfast each morning, we are both Vegan and they went out of their way to prepare us something. Service from checking in was outstanding, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately our return flight with easyJet was cancelled, we phoned the hotel who booked us a new room for the extra nights and helps arrange transport. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Funchal.

One Major flaw. The Vine is ultra-modern and beautiful, is in a great location and has a great breakfast. But if you arrive late at night or leave early in the morning-- as flights do with Madeira-- it can be a nightmare. I emailed ahead that I would arrive late and I told them we had 3 suitcases from 5 weeks of travel and I had back surgery so needed help with bags. But when you arrive in pitch dark, there is nothing but I shuttered pitch black shopping mall. Somehow you are supposed to find a small garage alley in the back and then wind through unmarked halls to come to a desk with 1 person who can't leave to help get your bsgs up or down. I had flagged the issue the prior night and was told I would be helped but Rymuben insisted he could not leave the front desk. A great place that needs to staff correctly and instruct them.
