Room was ok except for pencil shavings on carpet. Nicely stocked with toiletries and coffee.
First room we were given hadn't been turned over. Second room tv didn't work, front desk fixed. Heat didn't work (snowing and blizzard conditions) so we were given a space heater. Heater finally started after 3 hours so shut off space heater. Froze the entire night as heater once again quit working. No coupons or discounts were offered for our stay. Probably won't risk it again. Plenty of others to try

When walking on the balconey/ cat walk to get to the room, its so soft, you feel as if you are going to fall through the floor. We booked through hotels .com, got put in the very back room, the brick wall was our veiw, the light did not come on outside till it was 10pm so you could not see your footing out side and then the light stayed on and lite up the room all night long. Very unhappy with our stay for 296.00 a night. Very very over priced!!!!

Be right back sign upon check in. Waited 8 minutes for someone to attend desk. Guy in front had booked but told it was already full. Bathroom gross. Hearing/cooling non functional. Told at check in breakfast wasn’t delivered that day, so not sure we’d have anything though listed as amenity. There were some prepackaged stale muffins and snack bars… some yogurt gladly. Room falling apart. Highly disappointed. It’s clear people don’t want to work here. No one home at check out either.

My stay was pleasant, but the rugs are very old and need replacement and I could not get my curtains to not have a gap. Since the windows are along the walkway, I was concerned someone could see me getting dressed or get into the jacuzzi tub.

It took almost 40 minutes to check in and only two people were ahead of us. When we got to our room there were dead gnats everywhere. When we passed the man cleaning rooms he had an open beer on his cart and barked at my sister to move when they were passing each other in the hallway. Very overpriced even for Labor Day weekend.

Understaffed-Manager had to leave the check-in desk vacant while she ran to rooms to see if occupants were out. Waited half an hour to check in. Room key became deactivated so had to go to the desk to get reactivated. Room coffee pot was extremely dirty. Manager was working the desk and trying to resupply breakfast items

They accidentally gave our king room to somebody else, was given a Queen. We requested maid service each day and they completely ignored us, didn’t receive any for three days.They ran out of breakfast food by the second day. Worst stay ever.

I booked a rm with my lil guy and we ended up getting switched to a different rm because my son was not old enough to be in a jaquuzzi. We get to the rm and it was so bad filled with mold and spider webs i walked in and right out very disappointed. She offers to give me the jacuzzi rm and it was alittle better but still filled with mold smelled awful, i do not recomend the lady at thr desk was very nice though!!

The room was a decent size and had a mini fridge and small microwave. The beds sagged in the middle. Was disappointed in the “breakfast”, it really was just packaged pastries, bagels bread and yogurts. So with having a gluten allergy there really wasn’t much to eat.

Property was clean and comfortable. Biggest negative was that the curtain was not close enough to the window, so a light outside our room shined in all night. We were in room 221. Please consider adding blinds or blackout curtains that actually touch the window. Breakfast area was clean and cozy with a fireplace, but there were no hot options. Mostly bread items, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal packets and cereal. Overall, felt price was expensive for the accommodation we received

We were shocked to get back to our room after a full day away to find the hotel didn’t bother to clean or refresh the room. We called the front desk at 11 pm and they said they only clean rooms every third day. If we knew that, we’d have selected a different hotel.

This is an old property which has had beneficial upgrades, but still has problems. The only access to the second floor is via outside stairways which look like they would be hazardous in winter conditions. Our mattress should have been replaced a decade or so ago. Housekeeping service is done on request. We asked for it on the 3rd and 5th day of our stay and they forgot the first day. We had to call the desk to have towels brought up. The place is quiet, the staff seem friendly.

My wife and kids recently stayed at this hotel. Keep in mind that she did have a reservation. She arrived 30 minutes early, room was not ready for the 3pm check in, that is understandable. They left and returned at 4:30, room was still not ready. She was then told it would be another hour. She left again and returned around 6:30 at which point the room was ready. When they entered the room it was clearly not cleaned. Beds were a unmade, a blanket was on the dresser, pillows on the floor, and the floor was clearly not vacuumed. The bathroom had no towels or shower curtain. She then went back to the front desk and informed the staff that the room was not cleaned. They told her there was another room being cleaned but would not be ready for another 20 minutes. She doesn't know when that room actually was finished because the staff never told her the room was done. At 8pm she once again went to the front desk and asked about the room. At this time, they said the room was indeed finished. By this point it was 5 hours past their 3pm check in time. My wife is not one to throw a fit so she kept her calm and never made a big deal about the issue, I would have made a very big deal about this if I were there. Also the staff never brought up the idea of any comps to make up for the 5 hour delay. At bare minimum I believe they should have credited her on the cost of the room for that night. Howard Johnson you dropped the ball big time and we will never return to your hotel again!!!

Second floor only accessible by stairs. Outside access to room. Main office reeked of cigarette smoke. No ice in ice machine. Room never got touched in our 2 day stay.

Overall the stay was fine and the room was ok. It’s obvious there have been some renovations but it would go a long way if something was done to improve the staircase. It looks awful, rusty, dirty, and spiders and webs all over. The other problem is that it was impossible to get the room dark (2nd floor) bc the bright lights outside coming in the top and bottom if the windows. Lastly, and the reason I would not return is that when we arrived 20 minutes early at (2:40) we were told that while our room was ready, the hotel policy is to charge $50 for an early check in. The front desk attendant was very pleasant and the policy certainly isn’t her fault. But what type of policy is that - we just had to sit there and wait for 20 min to get checked in when the room was just sitting there empty. Very poor customer service!

For the price ($300/night) i was disappointed in the breakfast, smell of room, and appearance was 1970’s) It was slim pickings for breakfast, high in carbs and no hot food or protein. We stayed in a different newer choice hotel with cleaner rooms, better breakfast for $90. Also check in time was 4:00pm and room wasn’t ready until 5:30

Mattresses worn out so uncomfortable to sleep on. Requested housekeeping each night for 3 night stay and only came once when we saw her outside our room and asked her to at least remove dirty towels, empty waste basket, and replenish supplies. Went to front desk for clean towels and they did not have any bath towels only hand towels. Room decor was quite nice but good mattresses are more important.

Remodeled older hotel. Fair value for money in Traverse city area. 2 miles to downtown. Would consider using that hotel again.
