We arrived at the Alexis hotel after 2 am for our reservation for jukyb22nd 2024. I had called ahead to the property informing them that we had a late boat crossing and it would take us until after 1am for sure to get there and the lady I spoke to verified the reservation and said it was no problem for us to arrive late as the room was ALREADY PAID FOR thru Expedia.
The boat was delayed arriving and it ended up being after 2am before we arrived. When we got there, there was no reception, we had to call a local phone number for someone to come and give us our keys…I though ok no biggie but when she arrived she proceeded to tell us very angrily that they did NOT have a reservation for us that was booked. I showed her my confirmation number through Expedia and then she proceeded to tell me that “we don’t deal with EXPEDIA and that there was no room available for the night”
We were tired, and left with nowhere to stay so we had to sleep in our car which was neither SAFE nor COMFORTABLE. Upon talking to a few locals there and a few friends from home we heard horror story after horror story of them giving away peoples rooms that were paid for leaving customers in out situation.
Upon requesting a refund from them the lady at the desk told us a flat out NO.
I would SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER HAVING THEIR LISTING UNDER TOUR BANNER NAME. I use Expedia often without issue but this time I am out money and sleep 😡
Any help from you would be greatly appreciated

Great place, nice people. I had a great time there.

I liked being close to the center of Chania but not in the hustle and bustle. Loved the balcony overlooking the Aegean!

Quiet, little hotel located just outside Chania. Easy acces to downtown with a bus every 20 minutes. Busstop only 300 m from the hotel.
Pool is small but the beach is only couple of hundred meters from the hotel.
Rooms are very basic, but with everything you need, incl. a balcony. Kept clean and tidy
by the friendly cleaning Ladies.
At the reception a norwegian guy, Frode, will help you with everything you want to know: where to go and how to get there. If he doesn’t know it, it’s not worth knowing!
Solid breakfast with something to choose for everyone. From the breakfast room there is a wonderful view to the sea.
Theodosi restaurant at the hotel serves very tasty meals to affordable price and service is fantastic like everywhere else at the hotel.
All in all Alexis hotel can be warmly recommended: it could easily have 3 stars, the staff is worth 5 stars!

Mycket bra service och trevlig personal. Vi stannade 2 dagar och personalen var trevlig direkt och kände igen oss. Mycket bra restaurang också med bra service och god mat.

Friendly staff, hotel has pool, great onsite restaurant, and rooms have a nice side view of the mountains and sea.
Unfortunately the beds were hard as a rock. Waking up in pain every day puts a damper on the experience.
The breakfast has loads of options and the dinner restaurant is fantastic. There is only 1 vegan option, so I wouldn’t recommend the half board to vegans, maybe vegetarians, and definitely to omnivores.

Close to all amenities, fantastic views, close to beaches and wonderful staff. Rooms clean everyday. Fantastic breakfasts

The hotel was better than the photos. The room was large enough for us and a 1 year old, the breakfast had a lot of variety, the restaurant was very good and convenient as we arrived late and tired. It is a walkable distance to town & several beaches for us! The staff was outstanding in all aspects! My only regret is not have booked half-board to include dinner!

This is a wonderful friendly family hotel where Theo and his staff work hard to ensure guests have a unique experience. Food in the restaurant is lovely. Rooms are very clean and there are many repeat customers like me, which is testament to how high standards are here.

The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. The room was cleaned daily. We had a peaceful time and ate at the restaurant on two evenings. Both times the food was amazing. We enjoyed meeting the rest of our family for breakfast which was very relaxed. They even made us a packed breakfast when we had an early morning start. The bathroom could do with some adjustments as there was no shelf to put toiletries etc and the shower curtain was a bit annoying but otherwise for the price of our stay we thought it was fair and would definitely come back. We had a car so easy to get around but our friends walked to beaches and to Venetian harbour and to the old town and a taxi back cost them 6 euros

The staff were friendly and very helpful,The room was clean, had a safety box and a small fridge. It has a nice furnished sunny balcony. We were offered a kettle, a hairdryer and extra towels for the pool (the pool was lovely) the bathroom was tiny and a bit of a squeeze to use the toilet. The food was excellent. While the hotel was spotless the area around and the walk down to the beach had a lot of litter.

For someone who researches every single aspect of a place when booking a hotel, this was an amazing find. Every single person we came into contact with were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. I think we had THE best room (205) with amazing views. The room was basic but comfortable, with a fridge and a kettle. The shower was a standard Greece cubicle with shower curtain. The beds were a little too hard for me but my partner liked them (he says I'm like Goldilocks and it's hard to please me with bed softness).
The location was fine for us,around a 25 minute walk to the centre and 10 minutes to the beach. The path can be a little slippery down a hill, so perhaps take sturdy walking shoes.
The beach/pool towels were a nice touch plus other things such as being able to have boarding passes printed out and the use of an iron/hairdryer for free.
The breakfast was lovely, with different selections every day and a pancake maker.
We didn't use the pool as it was too cold, but we did sunbathe for a few hours around it and it was a nice area to relax.
The only negative to our stay was a group of other guests who were staying in adjacent rooms, they were noisy and inconsiderate, however that wasn't the fault of the hotel.
I would stay here again if we I was to come back, without without the children.

Very simple rooms but very clean, the breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff more than amazing. We had a great experience. The quality you get for the price is tough to beat :)

Usual thing with some Greek Hotels is the lack of morning hot water. Other than that the reception service was very good, the place was clean and the restaurant exceptional at dinner. Breakfast was a bit disappointing given the standard of dinner but for the price ....

Walk uphill was a bit unsafe at night as lighting poor .Shower rooms need upgrading.

We wanted a small hotel in a quiet location but within walking distance of Chania. As we are keen walkers, we favoured the route along the coast which took 15 to 20 minutes. First you have to descend by a path over scrub and then make your way over sandy paths to the coast path. You can walk along the shore if you prefer. That local beach was lovely and unspoilt with sand and some shingle. There are two tavernas just after the footbridge. If you want Aptera Beach and beyond, to the west, descend by the path, turn left by the green house and wind through the roads. That beach is busier but quiet at the far end by the rocks where it is good for snorkelling. We preferred the small, older taverna to the right of the car park mainly for drinks. The larger one unfortunately turns on the music in the afternoons, at least in high season. We hired a car for a few days and there are several rental companies in town. The National Road gets you to places quickly but we'd also recommend trips into the mountains.

Everything about this hotel, its friendly and helpful owners, its superb restaurant with modern Cretan cuisine, the simple but impeccably maintained bedrooms, the small but quiet and relaxing swimming pool area, was great. I had a wonderful week there and would happily return tomorrow.Although it is situated up quite a steep hill with limited direct access to the nearest beach, it is very easy to catch a bus for the short ride to both the beaches and the delightful port town of Chania, with its myriad shops, restaurants, bar and Venetian-style harbour.

Owner and Chef in the Alexis Restaurant is genius. Fantastic menu and even better made. Hotel is located in very quiet area out of city centre but it is just couple of minutes to get to the beaches. I can 100% recommend this place for sure.

Great accomodation, clean hotel with fantastic staff. Short and easy 10min bus ride into town or a 10min walk down to the beach. Theo sand his family were great hosts who were welcoming and friendly ensuring you felt at home whitest staying with them. Make sure to eat at the restaurant there, delicious menu and an amazing setting to see the sun yo down!

My friend and I stayed here for five nights and didn't want to leave! Our room was nice and had a lovely sea view and it's only about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. We also loved the restaurant and ate there every night. It's super reasonably priced and the food is amazing! Theo made our experience so great and made us feel right at home. He answered any questions we had and helped book an excursion to Elafonissi. Stay here!

Hotel Alexis is located in a good neighborhood outside of Chania. It has good parking facilities and a nice view of the area. The room is basic but adequate. The wifi worked well, and a computer is also available.

Overall, Alexis hotel is a great stay and super value. Theo was wonderful at check-in giving me overview of the city and a map of key sights. He also set up a bus ride for my hike to the Samaria Gorge the next day. The hotel is nice and the breakfast buffet was a delicious surprise. It is a bit of a walk into the old town. Also, the restaurant is very good with reasonable prices.

Theo, his wife, sister and staff were great. I didnt like Chania much. We could walk to a pleasant beach with sunbeds and umbrellas but it was all uphill on the way back. There is a bus stop close by that will take you to other villages or into Chania. The accommodation is good value for money. If you are a light sleeper the barking dogs could be a problem. They bark every night, not for long, but on and off all night. We did not sleep well. There is a restaurant on-site for evening meals, and the included breakfast is adequate for the price. The shower is small, but all the showers are small in Greece. Good value for money.

We have stayed at the Alexis twice and will definitely be back! Theo and his lovely wife Kaisa and family are brilliant hosts; nothing is too much trouble for them. Justin is the talented chef in the attached 'Theodosi' restaurant and he was happy to help with special dietary needs. We chose the 'Taste of Crete' option of breakfast and dinner included with the room, the buffet breakfast was well stocked, fresh and varied to meet all tastes as is the extensive dinner menu. The laid back atmosphere rubs off on the guests and despite various languages we managed to become great friends sharing a drink or ten each evening! There are several beaches within a 20 minute walk, we liked to spend the day at Nea Chora beach then walk another 20 minutes into Chania old town and harbour later in the afternoon. The cab fare from Chania centre is only six euros so we treated ourselves to cab rides back in the evening as it was a much easier way to get up the steep hill. The rooms are comfortable with a fridge to keep your drinks chilled, Kostoula is the excellent housekeeper who keeps the rooms spotless and well stocked. There is wifi and a PC available for guests to use in the reception area which is also well stocked with paperback books. Crete is a beautiful island and there's no better place to stay than Alexis Hotel.

For a 2 star hotel, this is very clean and well maintained, but do bear in mind that is very basic. The shower hasn't got a curtain and so the floor tends to get very wet, the toilet was pretty noisy as the water was running constantly and so was the sink tap.
Situated on a hill just by the sea it has the advantage of having a great view! The staff is very welcoming, especially Theo who is always willing to help and always making time to have a chat and recommend places to visit, etc. - this came in very handy! As mentioned the hotel is very clean (I was quite impressed with the cleaner’s performance!) and the rooms are serviced daily, clean towels and beddings are also provided every 3 days.
The restaurant looks better and the food was good... Everybody says it's amazing - I can’t really say much about it given that we only ate there once.
Location - just outside Chania, about 10 min away from the town centre and the main harbour, by car. As we had a car i cannot say how easy it is to use the public transport, but i can't see it being too difficult as it's only a couple of miles away and the bus stop is a few min away.
For a 2 star hotel this is very good value for money and a very good place to stay, but if you want a little bit more comfort go for a 3 star instead, as this may be a little too basic…

This is by far the best hotel I have stayed for this price. First of all, the hotel is rated a 2 star, but it should be more like a 3 star or better. The hotel is situated on a hill and is about 200 meter from the beach. It has many rooms with balcony overlooking the sea and Hania city. Theo, who manages this hotel and the restaurant belowl, is extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us many advise, booked trips and called taxi for us. We were so happy with our stay we actually stay two nights longer. When my girlfriend and I first arrived, we got a free upgrade to a sea view room. The room is clean, comfortable, and equipped with aircon and fridge. There is a computer in the lobby where one can surf the internet for free. The Theo's restaurant in the hotel, where Theo is the chef, is great place for dinner. We had our best meal there in Crete. From the look, the restaurant looks rather fancy, as it overlooks the sea and is finely decorated with modern furnishings, but the French/Crete fusion food there is very affordable, tasty and big portion. The food there are much better than the oily fried stuff we eat at many of tourist restaurants in the city center. The breakfast is standard continental, but is served in Theo's restaurant so you have a sea view to enjoy for your morning meal. The hotel is 2-3 km from Hania city center, which is quite small and takes 20min to walk along the beach and can be easily reach by bus (Parigoria stop). Overall, we highly recommend this hotel.
2.5
Theo is a sweetheart, Justin is an extraordinary chef, the location is excellent, the prices can't be beat-- this is one of our favorite places we've ever been. No complaints. The rooms were clean and comfortable, Chania is a really enjoyable town, and lots of other wonderful sites are within easy reach. We'd go back any day.
