Not sure how deluxe our booking was versus the standard. Our room had an outdoor setting as the indoor table and chairs and Just lacked the better detail of other apartments we’ve booked in PD, such as there was no tea towel, rusty chairs around the balcony table etc. Served it’s purpose. Very close to Macrossan which was handy.

A very spacious well kept property in a good location. Would have been even better if the wi-fi was operational - appreciate it's due to the failure of the service provider.

Tropic Sands has everything I require whilst participating in Port Douglas Race Week. Property is within walking distance to town, marina and Port Douglas Yacht Club. I am a return stayer and I will most definitely be back. Thank you.

Staff was nice. I liked the free washing facilities in common area and machines were quite new. Parking below is convenient if you have a car. Apartment was quite spacious. Accommodation is quite worn in primary facilities - light stands and tv clearly updated but would prefer a good mattress instead. Towels and sheets nice and clean. Overall room well cleaned. Bed and mattress extremely worn out and very uncomfortable to sleep in. Really needs to be updated. Had some issues with creepy crawlies in the apartment. All utensils etc provided in kitchen which is nice, however they were all very dirty so ended up not using them. There is no fan in the bathroom, so gets very steamy. Limited toilet paper provided and cleaning only happens with stays as of 8 nights, in between cleaning possible upon charge. There was a bit of a gap between the front door and frame which was inviting to mozzies. There is no reception on the premises and check in is not available at the accommodation itself. You will receive an email with check in directions which is about 5 min away by car and about 13 min walk. You do have to throw away your own trash upon departure which I always find to be a bit of a hassle.

Air conditioning is too noisy. Need more toiletries if guests staying more than 3 nights.

No staff on site. Room wasn't very clean, had to buy my own toilet paper and take out my garbage on the last day. Stayed for 5 nights and only received 1 set of towels. The pool was closed for a day without notice so the deck could be stained which also meant access to the apartments was through the garage. The pool was way too warm anyway.

This apartment is close to almost everything (Main Street, beach, brewery, etc.). We‘ve booked our apartment with shuttle service and everything went smooth. Sarah at the reception was fantastic and so helpful. Again, it’s a self serviced apartment, so don’t expecting daily cleanings. Only negative, BBQ was out of gas. Would always come back again.

The best thing about this unit is its location. Close to shops and beach. The biggest problem with this unit is the very strong musty smell that one is met with every time one enters the unit. Despite opening the windows and doors we couldn't get rid of the smell. The tiled floor felt perpetually damp- an unpleasant feeling underfoot. There is also a big hole in the wall that separates the lounge from the bedroom which means neither room can be fully separated noise and light wise. My adult daughter was sleeping on the sofa bed and complained bitterly about how uncomfortable it was and was stiff and sore in the mornings. She didn't complain about any other beds that she slept in at any of the other places we stayed. Something needs to be done about the musty/damp smell. It feels unhealthy breathing in the heavy air. We stayed in two cottages in dense rainforest and they only had a slight musty smell - far less than in this unit. A more comfortable sofa bed/ futon needs to be bought as the mattress is so thin the iron framework digs in to the beds occupant. This Tropic Sands unit was the worse place that we stayed in but it doesn't need to be if some improvements are made.It is in a pleasant block of units and is well equipped.

Convenient location central to most areas, tidy room with good amenities.
Only downside is room needs a good dusting on windows/blinds & under furniture.

Good value for money and great location.

Rooms are no longer up to 4 star standard, looking tired & in need of an upgrade. No onsite manager. Only one small sachet of washing up liquid for a 3 day stay, had to buy more. Having spent 2 weeks in northern Queensland in a number of places would suggest other options if staying in Port Douglas.

great location and well appointed rooms. The advertised 'on site manager' was on leave and not replaced so was a big effort to get DVD & TV working. Disappointed no access to ABC channel 2 - it is free to air. Otherwise a great stay

I really liked the place which was a huge apartment at a fantastic rate.
