Excellent(209 Reviews)4.3
The hotel is straight forward and offers old fashioned charm. It is a little tired and dated, but clean and has staff who get on with things and are supportive.
My only negative is the electric car charging point. Or lack of one. The hotel has two outside plug sockets connected by a cable with a 13amp fuse. Guess what happens when two cars plug in, each drawing 10amps. The fuse blows! The outcome is you cannot rely on getting an overnight trickle charge of a only 2kw per hour. Which is around 100 miles for a 12 hr duration. And the hotels pricing for use of their socket is £25, irrespective of how much charge you get. Clearly this needs a drastic rethink and is not a good advert for either customer service or safety

Excellent value for money with great service

Last minute booking to break journey but would book again to stay.
4.3
Very nice place good location

We had a very small and basic room at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road and the road noise was horrendous.Due to the Agricultural show down the road it was busier than normal and we were awoken very early by the noise.Unfortunately as it was the hottest day of the year we had to have all the windows open just so we could breathe.
The TV didn’t work and the Wi-fi was useless(the Management admitted that it was very hit and miss) - well why not do something about it!!
The toilet roll holder was broken and the towel hook on the back of the door was just hanging on by one screw.
This is definitely one hotel we will never use again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

All OK
4.3
Room was lovely apart from dogs barking through the night from room above - but other than that was a lovely place to stay
4.3
Perfectly adequate “stopping off” stay.
4.3
We enjoyed our stay, staff were friendly and being able to bring the dog was a bonus
4.3
Visited this place several years ago and would definitely return. Ideal for visiting new Forest
4.3
Mixed feelings about this stay.
Positives: the hotel has good parking, we’re very accommodating of my late arrival, is nicely presented, my room was well appointed, breakfast was very good quality and a nice selection and very nice to offer 4 time slots to choose for your convenience.
Negatives: my room was facing the main road which was busy throughout the nice and disturbing despite ear plugs - needs triple glazing installed, room was hot but couldn’t open windows as would have made the road noise even worse, all rooms have Yale locks which leads to other guests slamming their doors shut so no chance to sleep in, room needed blackout curtains.
Overall a very poor night without sleep, but breakfast was very nice and all staff friendly and helpful.
4.3
Easy to access, room was lovely and clean although it was at the front of the hotel and the double glazing didn't seem to work at all as we could hear every car go past.
Breakfast was fresh and hot and the staff were very attentive.
4.3
Hotel was perfectly situated for days out in the New Forest, 20 min drive to the sea, (Highcliff) and Beauieu Motor Museum, large room and Breakfast excellent. The village of Lyndhurst had excellent amenities and would recommend Dolce Vita for dinner, lovely true Italian restaurant , food excellent and price good value. The chippy was good too - will come back to the hotel and Lyndhurst we had a lovely break.
4.3
Mattress had to be changed on one bed . Springs sticking through.
Bins not emptied in room on 2nd day.
Room very small
Sausages and bacon at breakfast very over cooked on 1st and 2nd day.
Staff friendly.
Convenient for local amenities
4.3
Easy distance to get to Wedding venue in Brockenhurst.
Friendly staff and breakfast excellent.
4.3
The location was good for my visit to Lyndhurst. Room was small (nothing like the one in the picture) and overlooked a very busy main road. Ask for a room facing the carpark as the traffic noise went on untillate and started again very early.
Breakfast was very good

We’ve stayed at The Penny Farthing before. The place is basic, very clean and welcoming. It is ideally situated for walking into Lyndhurst & travelling to other parts of The New Forest. All staff we’ve met during both stays have been welcoming and friendly.
4.3
The service and breakfast was excellent, yet the beds were old, squeaky when you turned, even if you moved, and very uncomfortable.
4.3
staff really friendly and helpful, dog welcomed, room clean and warm.
my only issue was the noise from room above and next door
4.3
Liked everything about the property
4.3
For the type of hotel it is, it does a very good job of having what you need. Doesn't have any flourish and a decent price with breakfast. Great for work
4.3
Really lovely stay, the room was as described.
4.3
room is far too small to rent!
4.3
Pet friendly. Our dog even got a treat whilst we were waiting for our breakfast. Breakfast was good. Over all decent stay.
4.3
We made a last minute booking and were very happy with the hotel. Our room was cosy, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast and felt the price we paid was value for money.
The hotel building was old and this made for quirks such as steep, narrow stairs. If staying again I would ask for a ground floor room or one of the cottages.
4.3
Lovely clean hotel and friendly staff
4.3
There was a broken window above my bed and moisture around the inside of the windows
4.3
Lyndhurst is a great base for exploring the New Forest. The Penny Farthing is clean and most of the staff are very friendly. The breakfast is a no frills full English. Dog friendly and our dog loved her morning sausage.

4.3
The young lady ectra was lovely, very informative and friendly. Helped me with my luggage
4.3
Stayed 1 night for a wedding - single room which was clean and bright. Only negative was carpet in the toilet area- not very hygienic! Service was very good as was the breakfast.
4.3
Rooms are not accessed during your stay so teas, coffees, milks, etc are not replenished. The bed was quite uncomfortable but they were hot nights so we slept on the quilt. Breakfast was excellent and staff were very attentive and friendly.
4.3
A lovely well presented guest house. Breakfast was amazing as were the lovely Irish owners. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
4.3
Overall OK although bed on small side and traffic noise not so good....
4.3
The family room was nice, although the one blind did not keep the light out, the bed was very creaky whenever we moved, traffic going past was making the bed rattle, The taps were really hard to turn off, which left the water dripping. Breakfast was nice
4.3
Nice place, nice staff at a very competitive price.
4.3
Clean and well appointed room. Good breakfast
4.3
