Nice pub/hotel in Criccieth. A small seaside town, just outside Porthmadog, but without the crowds. Good size car park and public transport, if you wish to have acar free day.
4.2
The hotel is pleasant but rather old fashioned, with narrow stairs and corridors. There's a small lift which requires some effort to open the door. The breakfast was good and the room was clean. Car park was crowded.
4.2
Considering it was the last room available on a last minute booking, we were glad to have a place to stay… with a decent breakfast included.
4.2
A beautiful historic hotel in a picturesque welsh town. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Only complaint is the room was a bit hot and stuffy, even with the window open.
4.2
Great stay, good location to explore the area.
Free parking, good Wi-Fi, good breakfast.
The bed was a a little soft but personal preference. The hotel had everything we needed for a comfy family stay.
Staff were also all very pleasant. Would definitely stay again.

Nice place, nice room, bathroom and bedding, breakfast great, stored my bicycle locked away overnight which was great, shame there was no food in the evening

Just checked out after a 2 day stay, great location and good value for money. Staff are excellent friendly and helpful. 20 mins from morpha nefyn for golf so perfect if you want a good location and a good brekfast to start the day. Well done Lion Hotel, very happy

Lovely hotel. We had a very nice weekend here. We like everything. Only one thing could be better.....walls could be thicker.
We can hear everything people were saying &doing in the room next to our room.
4.2
Good points: the location and the parking area, the politeness of the staff. The cleanliness of the room with convenient sockets. I appreciated the fact that at least a few of the staff spoke Welsh (my first language).
Bad points: the bed was the most uncomfortable of the 3 hotels in which I stayed this holiday. Perhaps my experience might have been different if I'd paid for a better room.

Lovely staff and good advice on where to walk
4.2
No available food on a Monday and no restaurant in use for evening meals
Staff all excellent and helpful and bar food was very good
Noise from room above us was disappointing and sounded like people walking on bare floorboards
Overall the hotel was good to very good
4.2
Very friendly staff. Nice room and breakfast. Lovely view from the room

Weekend break in the area First time around here and Criccieth is beautiful and the gateway to the peninsula The Lion is in a great spot and all our interactions with staff were fantastic Genuinely nice people. The rooms are quirky and lots of steps so if you’re a premier inn or Hilton regular maybe this ones not for you, but we enjoyed it Breakfast was very good and set us up for exploring

A very friendly and welcoming hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful. We will certainly be back.

Well located centre of Cricceth. Room was basic but fine. Staff were good and breakfast was very good. Disappointed on the Saturday that the bar didnt open till 5 when its advertised to open at 2. Overall a good hotel though a bit pricey for a 3 star

Lovely room, comfy bed and great shower fabulous breakfast in the mornings, great for exploring the surrounding area
Lovely view from the room

Friendly staff, very good breakfast and a great view of the bay from our 2nd floor room
4.2
Lovely hotel within easy reach of all the sites in Snowdonia. Staff are excellent and the all you can eat breakfast is fantastic! Nice rooms and the hotel has a bar to get a well earned drink before bed time. Would recommend.
4.2
Great staff, delicious breakfast, peaceful, clean room, comfy bed, walk straight on to beach, views over the sea...Lovely
4.2
Excellent service from all staff members could do with some updating but overall good value for money
4.2
Good base for travelling around the area. Decent breakfast. Room not serviced each day as standard which we found strange. Would have been nice to use the beer garden in the evening but when we asked we were told it was closed even though a nice evening. People having to sit out side the front of the hotel by the road instead.
4.2
Property was conveniently located for the town centre and beach. Overall the property and rooms need a bit of an overhaul. Although the room was clean it was quite small and extremely noisy with internal doors banging every 10-15 mins (obviously inconsiderate guests) until late at night. It was 0030 on our first night before things calmed down. Staff were nice and friendly. Parking was an issue as there are not enough spaces in the car park and we had to park off street nearby.
4.2
We had a lovely stay at the Lion Hotel. Room was large and comfortable. The decor and furnishing was not the latest fashion however it was clean and did the job.
Everyone we met at the hotel was polite and friendly.
4.2
We had a lovely 2 night stay in the Lion Hotel. On the whole the hotel was nice and clean if a little tired. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The bar hours were limited to the evening but that wasn't a problem for us and we had a very nice pizza in the bar on our first night. The breakfast was great too.
The only thing we didnt like was the size of the bed, it was a double and we are used to a King size!
4.2
Apart from a minor issue with our spotlessly clean room which was dealt with politely and professionally everything was excellent and full value. The public rooms in the hotel would benefit from a little tlc. We ate a pleasant Sunday lunch and the breakfast was top quality. Certainly a good choice for a short break.
4.2
We thought the lion had lovely friendly helpful staff.
4.2
Stayed at The Lion for 1 night. Friendly staff but seemed understaffed. No food available at night which wouldn't have mattered except there were very few alternatives. Room was clean and comfortable with a sea view but bathroom was designed for someone with a disability with doors round a wetroom type shower.
Breakfast was buffet style with lots of choice but not very warm.
4.2
Lovely hotel in a great location with friendly helpful staff. Our room desperately needed a bathroom update though.
4.2
Great location, very friendly and curteous staff
4.2
Great hotel. Lovely, individual room. Good evening meal - quality haddock & home-made chips. Great pint of Conwy Brewery ale. Good position for town amenities & beach. Easy, quick check-in. Parking. Recommend.
4.2
Excellent service, staff very helpful. Breakfast choice whatever you want. The Lion Hotel is in a superb location for walks or car journeys.

Great place, super location, friendly staff.
4.2
Great stay, friendly and helpful staff. Room was good facilities excellent and the breakfast superb. Location can’t be better it’s quiet but right in the centre of Criccieth we had a room on the second floor with a view of the castle and the sea.
4.2
Lovely break. Friendliest staff from receptionist to staff at breakfast. All so helpful. Had a great view too.
4.2
We had an amazing room, with a fabulous view. Breakfast was great.
4.2
Very disappointing. Room was small with mold on window frames. Bed was uncomfortable. Food was disappointing. Staff were very helpful and polite
4.2
Hotel was clean and tidy with attentive staff however a very limited evening food menus only served between 18.00 & 19.30 and in that time they ran out of steak each night tip don't ordered daily make sure you have plenty of stock as you would make more profit on another note the Spice Rack Indian at bottom of the hill is great and had us for 3 nights due to lack of hotel food. however breakfast was amazing
