This hotel is beautiful and quaint. Anne-Marie was amazingly friendly and helpful, as were all of the employees. I would definitely recommend it, and have already booked another stay!

Lovely place to stay

We loved the ambiance of the hotel, room was clean, comfortable and stately. Staff spoke good English. Breakfast was at 8 am, and we had to leave before then both days there. A small market right across the street, not too far from the Old City sights. Lovely back patio.

Stuff was fantastic, very helpful ans kind. Bed was a little uncomfortable for me.

Fantastic and beautiful with clean and comfortable rooms.
Location is a off the main street and a short walk to the old town but this means the noise outside is kept to a minimum.
Close to the hotel is a Brewery tap room belonging to Hop Hooligans. So if craft beer is your thing its worth a visit. Old town is 10 minutes or so away and in the other direction are some other good bars and restaurants.
Parking can be a bit of a thing but finding a space on the streets outside shouldn't be too difficult.
Overall I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely vintage hotel… just in a sketchy looking neighborhood. No elevators so not easily accessible. Poor wifi.
4.3
Hotel has a beautiful old décor that is both charming and comfortable.
Staff were friendly and helpful while the hotel itself is perfectly located. A short walk to the old town for bars and restaurants but not too close as to make other options too far of a journey.
4.3
The hotel was perfect. Conveniently located and the staff was incredible. We really felt at home here and loved the rooms and felt safe.
4.3
The hotel is not just a hotel but a museum as well. Probably one of the least expensive museum where one can sleep in... (Most likely some changes have been made, but the essence is there.) Hard to be disappointed.
4.3
All nice, except for this unneccessary "music" while having a nice meal in a physically cosy environment, destroyed a lot.
4.3
We shall return one day … the staff was amazingly hospitable and competent. Thank you Scala!
4.3
Amazing experience! A pleasant walk in a previous century with all modern amenities .
Decoration, furniture, size, atmosphere…all in all, I will always use this hotel in Bucharest!

We were promised airport transportation and nobody was there to pick up.. we were promised first floor and confirmed three times..upon arrival only available was 3rd floor. We requested wake up call on following morning and nobody called. Apparently everything requested and promised failed us

The hotel is very old, everything is unpleasant. We came around 8 pm and our room was not ready, we should wait another 30 min… the price is too high for such a location…
4.3
The Hotel is very nice in an excellent location. Not suited for persons with reduced mobility as no lift. There are 2 rooms at ground level. Ask for those if you have problems with stairs

We had an excellent stay. We take the suite that was in the third floor (without lift) that was the unique discomfort we had as we didn't were told. However, the stay was very pleasant.

Great experience, book into this hotel as a treat for our last night in Romania. The location is convenient. The staff are really nice and helpful. Lovely building, would come back again if we ever go to Bucharest again.

The hotel has a perfect location: almost in the heart of the city very close to restaurants & bars, banks, exchange offices, public transport and supermarkets. The rooms are design and decorated more like a storage room than tailored to guest’s comfort with hard uncomfortable beds and pillows, plenty of furniture with hard to open drawers, and waisted spaces and cornersWhen the room wasn’t clean one day and I asked for some clean towels I received after one hour and 2 old, over-used face towels and plenty of face towels and floor towels being told that the reception didn’t know where the other items are in the storage.Appalling customer service from the reception staff. After the first day I decided to stop asking basic question and request simple information as they everybody at the reception looked bored and annoyed that we disturb them. Is this the Romanian version of a “boutique” service?

The rooms are trying hard to be in line with a “boutique” hotel but unfortunately are full of “dust collectors” with a lot of unnecessary decorative elements who give the feeling of an cheap antiquity shop or Grandma’s bedroom..Breakfast was a weird combination of posh nice items (curls/chunks of fresh butter, eggs cooked on demand, excellent selection of homemade jams) and weird dishes (cold Sheppard pie, breaded chicken drumsticks). A funny mixture between fresh products and last night dinner left overs. The service during breakfast was excellent. On the last I asked the reception if I can benefit from a late check-out the next say: check-out time was 12.00PM and my transfer was schedule at 1.00PM. The night receptionist said that is no problem as the room was vacant the next day. It was an unpleasant surprise in the morning when I was getting ready for a business meeting to be told that I have to leave the room or to pay extra for a 50 minutes later check-out. Great way to get me back in your hotel!
