Very welcoming staff, great location and super comfortable room

Service was great - in the hotel and restaurant and bar. Food was also lovely. Breakfast was also great. The rooms could have done with a bit of maintenance (wobbly bathroom shelf for example) and there was dust behind the bedside table when I plugged my phone in. Overall ok though.

This hotel is better look than the photos on the website.
everything is good except difficult to find the location.
If you use google or tom tom be very careful it will guide you to a road close direction or into the small river then you would drain.......I would suggest people arrive there not during the late evening to avoid difficult find the locatioin.
I was very lucky to meet Ellen in the other pub, the lady was very kind to go back her house and use her car drove 20 mins to guide me to this hotel. it was so touched by local nice people. I had a fantastic time in the areas.
My room is warm, and comfortable, the show is good. food is good. I shall come back again!

Our stay at The Crown was excellent. Nothing about our experience was in any way negative. Comfortable clean rooms, excellent food and beer, and above all, friendly and welcoming staff made the whole weekend all the better. Thank you very much! We hope to return next year.

We had an amazing stay, rooms are very comfortable, clean, with all that you need, and it just felt like coming home. It’s a family run hotel/pub, and we felt very welcome from the minute we checked in. Check-in starts at 3.30 pm and the pub opens at 4pm, so if you arrive earlier, you can always go to the White Horse for a coffee or drink! Pet friendly, and again we didn’t have our dogs, but are fully planning on coming back. We didn’t have dinner here, but menu looks great and fully plan on coming back!

Overall, a good stay at The Crown. Food is decent, with a nice breakfast. Service is friendly and the room was quiet and comfortable. All I would say is that some of the corridors and certainly the bathroom in my room could do with a lock of paint or a bit of modernising. But I would definitely stay again.

Stayed for seven nights as we wanted to return to an area of Exmoor that we used to visit often when we lived in North Devon 25 years ago. The hotel room was spacious, light and airy and everything felt very clean. Queen bed was super comfy with quality bedding and pillows. Sandra and her staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming than they were - to all customers/ residents. The bar had a locals feel, rather than trying to be a Gastro pub, but the menu selection and quality of food was definitely a cut above normal village pub fayre. Chefs were very helpful in adapting meals to suit my Wife's dairy allergy - nothing was too much trouble. Lovely stay, in a lovely village so central for all the areas we wanted to visit and a holiday enhanced by the customer service received throughout. Well done Sandra.

Very pleasant hotel with a wonderfully friendly landlady who tends to everyone’s needs. The rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfy - the only issue was that there was a lot of dust on all of the surfaces, perhaps from the rooms only being serviced between guests rather than every day. Food is good - sticky toffee pudding a real winner!

We enjoyed our stay, room great, beds comfortable, nice bathroom. Not sure about paper cups in room as we had china ones for breakfast so couldn’t understand the logic, as we had to service the room we could have managed to wash a couple of cups up! Although we were asked to put mask on in corridors, think we were the only guests that did, also staff were not wearing any even waiters! Staff were very polite and food excellent.

We were made very welcome immediately upon arrival. The hotel was in excellent condition and our room was unexpectedly large and comfortable with first-class furnishings. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The proprietors were always on hand and making sure that we were being attended to. The food was absolutely amazingly excellent. The pub bar and lounge areas were lively and welcoming. The local beer was very enjoyable.

It's an idyllic location on the quiet cross-roads by the village green with an a very friendly welcome, even from the locals. It's great that they'll chat to you on a daily basis while you're there and helps make the time there as good as it was (especially for a single traveler).
