This property has the best views in El Calafate. The staff went above and beyond in looking after us. Definitely check this one out.

Very nice staff. Beautiful view of the lake and mountains

Great spot. Right on the lake. Great drinks and breakfast. Would stay again

We stayed at Las Dunas Hotel after trekking in Torres del Paine. The building itself could use a little upkeep, but the friendly staff and attentive service make up for it. While about 7 minutes away by car or 30 minute walk along the waterfront from the town centre, is literally steps away from the shores of Lago Argentino. The majority of the rooms have a view of the lake, the islands in it and the mountains behind it. There’s also a nearby trail where once can discover the flora and fauna. The massage was also a nice post-trek service that they provide, but must be booked the day before.

The hotel was comfortable enough, clean but a bit tired looking. Breakfast was served in miniature sizes (shot glass glasses for juice) and you had to pay extra for eggs (everywhere else in Argentina they were free).

Let's start with saying that this hotel is good value for money and the views over Lago Argentino are great. The location allows you to walk to the town center in 35 to 40 minutes, but a taxi only cost 2000 ARS.
The rooms are a nice size. Ours had an extra 1 person bed, but some also have a sitting corner. Unfortunately we didn't get one of the rooms with balcony, although the strong prevailing winds probably would lessen the use. The bathroom was also a good size. Unfortunately there is no shower curtain, only a small piece of glass. The result was water all over the floor. The breakfast buffet is very good. We didn't use the restaurant in the evening. There is a bar, but you have to ask at the reception for staff to come up there. We used the laundry service, which is relatively cheap, but our clothes came back smelling as if they had been left to dry in the kitchen. We made use of the massage service, again very good value for money.
Overall, we had some communication issues but we enjoyed our stay and in the end that is what counts

The Lake views

We must do something concerning your WIFI. It's very too low.

Unusual property. Wrong location, wrong design. Food and wine was poor. Staffing and security were minimal. Great location if you want to be isolated.
Staff were very pleasant
4.3
Nice place by the lake, far from town.
4.3
Dirty room and bathroom. Had to change hotels
4.3
Beautiful big hotel by the lake. Great location!
4.3
Extremely expensive ($175/night) for what you get. The room had sewer smell and was not maintained properly. The balcony was nowhere close to what you see in the pictures. Room Furniture was in very poor condition. No fridge in room. No soap dish in bathroom. Breakfast was underwhelming. No covered parking.

This hotel is out of the town, far away from business area. But in front of lake Argentina and City Reservation Park. If you like bird watching or lake/natural views, this is a beatiful place to stay. I run a half marathon along the lake beach, it is the choice for outdoor sports lover.
4.3
Breakfast terrible. Nothing except bread and OJ. Bad bad bad. Excellent view.
4.3
Best view by the Laga Argentina. If you have a rental car, it will be no issue to get to the Main Street of the town
4.3
El hotel y el personal son geniales.. La unica queja son los caminos de piedra y la distancia al pueblo
4.3
Beautiful views of Argentina's largest lake. Some staff very friendly. Be prepared to walk, or pay 400.00 (ish) pesos every trip to city center and back. Listing was not accurate regarding free shuttle. Shower creates.toi much water in floor of bathroom.
4.3
I loved the location right in front of the lake and the views. It was clean and basic, but ok. I would have loved more dining options, but main restaurant was closed because of the low season.
4.3
Most of the rooms especially from higher floor have extensive lake views. Room was well appointed, very clean, and comfortable. Wifi good.Front desk helpful with tours, and restaurant reservations. Walk to downtown about 15 minutes, or the shuttle the hotel offers.
4.3
Location is excellent with a magnificent view.
Personnel was very good and helpful.

Amazing. Beautiful Lagos Argentinas, snow capped mountains view. Beautiful room. Staff at front desk, at the restaurant are incredibly helpful. Hotal location is a bit far from the toen center - but that’s the trade off between amazing landcape and town proximity

More than the best

Beautiful location and staff is very kind. Nice view and fresh air. This hotel was excelente. I was really happy to enjoy everything. Thank you.

Opposite lake and near lagoon excellent.

I compare this hotel to Hampton Hotel in the USA. Clean and quiet, safe and efficient. Rooms were spacious and we had beautiful lake views. Price was reasonable. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The staff was very helpful getting taxis as needed and providing information on their free shuttle service into town. The location is somewhat removed from downtown.

Everything went smoothly. The shuttle was a big plus. The view of the lake was priceless.

Hotel out of the city (shuttle service). Hotel/rooms are 3*-star-level in Europe. Simple and boaring breakfast (had much better breakfast during the trip in Argentina). Wifi good. Staff on check-in was not very friendly. Check-out was very friendly.
4.3
The hotel sits right next to Lake Argentina and has beautiful views of the lake, mountains, wildlife (lots of birds) and sunsets! The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They also have adapters you can use if your plug does not fit (my S American plugs didn't work here). The rooms were nice but a little loud when doors would shut. Hotel has wifi and computers and a nice restaurant on level 1. The local tour companies are familiar with the hotel and will not have a problem picking you up for a tour. There's a free shuttle into town (5 min drive), to the main shopping/eating area of town.
4.3
Room not sound proof. Noisy if close to restaurant/bar. Long check out line due to large tour group.
4.3
Hotel is away from town but offers a spectacular view of and a short walk to Lago Argentino. Room lacks air circulation so was stuffy and window has no bug screen to keep the bugs outside. Wall electrical outlets are not dual use so remember to bring converter. Good food at the hotel restaurant but pricy for some items (e.g. 150 peso for a Caesar salad but a nice steak can be had for 200 peso). Hotel also offers a convenient shuttle service into town.
4.3
The location is great by the lake and all rooms have beautiful lake view. The free shuttles to town center are always on time. The rooms are spacious and clean, but too hot. I didn't sleep well two of the three nights because we could not cool down the room. The staff was not rude, but also not helpful. Overall, the dining room staff was more pleasant than those at the front desk.

In a town filled with hostels and a few overpriced "luxury" hotels this establishment is a great choice. The hotel is about 1.5 km from the centre of town which is fine because they run a complimentary shuttle bus. A taxi from the bus station to the hotel was less than 80pesos anyway.
The hotel is situated opposite lake Buenos Aires and we had a lovely view especially in the morning and at sunset. The hotel staff were very helpful. We had dinner in the hotel one night which was very nice and actually cheaper than town. The hotel room was huge and comfortable. Also opposite the hotel is a small nature reserve and so one day we walked back from town (a pleasant and easy walk) via the reserve where we saw the local birds including flamingos and andean ducks (blue bill). The hotel breakfast is typical of Argentina breads, jams, pastries.
