We liked the proximity to Copperstown. Also liked the host. He is very friendly and accommodating. Shared bathroom was not an issue and the bathroom was updated and clean. Beds were also very comfortable. This is a 200 year old home and is very charming. The downside is the property is lacking in routine maintenance and upkeep. Frayed rugs, dusty, gaps to the sides of the window air conditioner, lots of spider webs in between the windows. Exterior also needs a good clean up, paint and sign needs to be fixed. Good was good just would have been nice to have some healthier options.

I really appreciated that the owner texted us beforehand to check on our arrival time so he could be there to greet and welcome us. The property is in need of some TLC, but at the same time, it was a welcome escape from the cookie cutter chain hotels by the interstate. Good place to stay while visiting Cooperstown of the southern tier.

I stayed here for nearly a week, and this place became home to me. Often times I had to leave early and return late and it was never an issue. Food was fabulous, well more than I had experienced. Snacks and coffee always available. I worked at the kitchen table late at night and I felt like I was back at my house. Very accommodating, especially with breakfast or other requests a guest may have. The saying "you arrive as a guest, leave as a friend" really applies here. I would highly encourage people to give this place a try.

Host Matt is kind and patient. He carried my suitcase up and down the steep steps to and from my lovely room. He was accessible whenever I needed him, from pre-check-in to check-out. Excellent WiFi. Comfortable bed; I slept well. I enjoyed my breakfast of juice, pancakes, bacon and decaf Kurtis coffee. However, those who would like a healthier breakfast would be out of luck, There was no fresh fruit, no yogurt. Also, no bread, bagels or pastries of any kind, no jam. There is a large maybe a little too friendly dog. I rate my stay as average because although everything is fine, it misses the mark in elegance.

I loved the historical nature of he property and the cozy room. The host was friendly and welcoming and his family was charming. I felt at ease in the space making it a much better experience than a chain hotel. The breakfasts were terrific!!

It was an absolutely wonderful experience stayig at Brookside at Laurens for two nights the 3rd weekend in September this year and having our first true Bed & Breakfast experience in many years. Fascinating, creatively appointed rooms, two very memorable delicious and delightful breakfasts prepared and served by our amiable host, Matthew. We stayed in the blue room upstairs and will definitely look for opportunities to return in the future! We highly recommend this inn and love that children are welcome there (though this time we were traveling without our 3 grown & flown sons).

This is a wonderful bed-and-breakfast. Personable host Matt makes great breakfasts. This is a quiet and relaxing environment. A few mile drive to the busy town of Oneonta. Half the price of hotels in town that serve breakfast out of a box. I have stayed here on two occasions, and will be returning in the next week or two. I highly recommend.

Homemade hot breakfast! And there really is a babbling Brook just beside the inn which we could hear from the room. The charming rooms are decorated in color themes. Shared bath in the hall and spacious common areas - we could have definitely stayed longer!

Brookside Inn was an ideal stopover for our two-day road trip from Ohio to New Hampshire: a reasonably priced, clean and comfortable B&B with great charm and character. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast and the chance to chat with Matthew.

Stayed for one night, but will come back with my family to enjoy this beautiful place more. Excellent service and great accommodation!! Make sure you stay for breakfast it is amazing!!!

Beautiful house like living in a museum. The owner and his adorable kids are very friendly and the breakfast is delicious!

Negatives Bed mattress was awful, so hard! Exterior of house not well maintained, lightbulb out on front porch, landscaping overgrown, paint peeling on house, burned out house across the street No recommendations or brochures for things to do in the area Bathroom not super clean saw hairs in shower and on sink, hand soap practically empty, half used shampoo and conditioner containers in shower Ceiling fans were disgusting they had so much dust on them. Not much located close by. Positives Price Easy drive to Cooperstown (30 min). Breakfast was decent. Owner was nice.

There was no toilet paper in one bathroom, the other bathroom had no soap. A prior guest had thrown away left over pizza in both bathrooms snd the garbage had not been emptied. In the middle of the night I used the bathroom and found that the trash had been overturned and the cold pizza was strewn over the floors of both bathrooms. I imagine that someone's dog had gotten into it. I picked up the trash in one of the bathrooms, but when we left the other one had still not been cleaned. This tells me that no one is cleaning or inspecting the shared baths between or during stays. It was not only gross, its a health hazard. Nice family, nice housebut they need to pay more attention to the basics.
