Chose this as a nights stop over when traveling home from a holiday in Cornwall. We chose to come this way back as we were fed up of sitting in the none stop stop start qué we were in on the M5. Lesson learned don't travel on a Friday to Cornwall or back to Stafford on the M5. The staff here are really pleasant and helpful we also liked the fact you get a 10%discount on food and drink when eating there. There is a night club on site we never new about but as our room was well away from the DJ and music which goes on late on a weekend we didn't here a thing so really good. The food is excellent and the breakfast choice is good and filling as well. İt's quite a large Pub/Hotel so there is plenty of space for everyone, all in all we had a great night's stay here and will stay again when in the area or when the M5 motorway is at a standstill. We really liked the place and it's so handy for the centre of town and shops and the fact you can park at the rear of the hotel is also a bonus, just a brilliant place to stay.

Convenient for work, excellent choice of Pubs cafes & restaurants for eating out which are literally on the doorstep

The atmosphere was young and buzzy, not the place for a quiet weekend , as disco Friday and Saturday until 3.00am and live band Sunday evening until 11.00pm !!
Unfortunately plug in bathroom sink did not work, and the pillows and duvet were of poor quality. No storage or hanging facilities in room, so fortunate we were only staying one night.

The property is a very old coaching inn. It was spotlessly clean but the shower was faulty and we were given 1 bath towel for 2 people. We felt the plinth for the shower stuck out dangerously for when using the bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast. Good value for money.

Firstly we couldn't find the carpark. Unless you know where you are going it is extremely difficult to find as it is not signposted.
When we checked in we found out that there is a nightclub in the pub below between 10pm-3am on a Friday & Saturday night. There was nothing in the description that said this when we were booking. The music itself was fine and we were able to sleep as we were away from the actual dance area. However, we were woken at about half 3 with staff banging the doors closed. Not once but twice. This was on both nights.
When going upstairs one of the bits of carpet had come off the stairs & was a huge trip hazard because the steps are narrow in depth.
The room itself & ensuite were decorated nicely. It was very compact but was enough for what we needed for the weekend. However, it was boiling. The towel rail in the ensuite was permanently on & even when we turned it to * it still kept pumping out heat. We got the window open once with great difficulty. When we tried again the next morning it just wouldn't budge. The ensuite is designed beautifully but is to be honest a bit of a death trap. When the shower is on water goes every where. It is tiled floor & even with the shower mat it did little then become absolutely drenched.
The breakfast was lovely but we found it difficult to have to choose the night before. We also had to give a time between 9 & 10am for when we wanted breakfast. We found this odd. Has good potential but not likely to stay again.

Staff here could not be more friendly or welcoming. Breakfast was great too, our room was on the 2nd floor so minimal impact from nightclub noise! So good we booked to stay again next month.

Being a Saturday night it was very crowded and noisy. We were expecting this as we know that area of town but you might want to warn other guests when booking. Also concerned as there did not seem to be any fire regulations and guidance available and if there had been a fire no fire escape

The pub and restaurant look lovely and very modern, although I didnt eat here the bar service was very quick and helpful. The room was very tired and needed a bit more than TLC. The paint Round the window was cracked and peeling for example, definitely not worth the £65 I paid! Would not stay again

The original room was up 2 flights of narrow, badly lit stairs. I thought they'd forgotten to furnish it - no chair, no table, no wardrobe, not even a tooth glass in the bathroom, Nothing but the bed & two weird looking small drawer units. I had to ask for a hairdrier & was told "we only supply them to premier rooms". That's not what the website says. And let''s ace it - who doesn't supply hairdriers these days? I had to go down to find out what the internet pw was. When I asked for a glass of wine they couldn't add it to my room bill. I plugged in the iron I'd requested (grubby ironing board btw) & the sockets blew. I trudged down the two flights of stairs for the fourth time. They put me in another room at the other end of the building. No apology, no offer of a glass of wine on the house, & didn't help carry anything. The new room was somewhat better furnished but poky & smelly. Clean towels had been left on the bag rack. Yuk. Hot water for tea in the breakfast room was in a flask & the water tasted metallic. Amateur, sloppy & incompetent.

This is an historic building in old town Swindon above the King's Arms pub. Guest rooms are very recently renovated with new furniture and fixtures. Facilities are well-maintained and the staff are friendly. Good, filling, custom-prepared breakfast. The pub is very convenient too :)

It's fine. Staye here a few times. Very good value.
But if you prefer 'quiet' make sure you request a room at the back of the Hotel. The front on the main street can be a bit lively.

I liked the convenient location.
I had room 11 on the front - the windows were painted open & the revelers in the street & karaoke music were so loud & went on until 1.30am, so I could not sleep.
The following morning as I couldn't shut the windows the street noise from cars and a road sweeper was so loud that I was awake at 6.30am! So terrible for a good night's sleep.
Both bedside lights did not work either, so the room was too dimly lit to read.

Chose the Kings nearest walking distance to ' music ' event we were attending. Bit of a confusion on checking in, our reservation couldn't be found. A more experienced member of staff quickly sorted that out. Went up to our room, opened the door to be hit in the face by ,first the smell of fresh paint, and then how hot it was. Windows wouldn't open, and couldn't turn the radiator down or off. Left the door open to the room, already knew there wasn't any other rooms, told that the hotel was fully booked that night. Changed very quickly to go out.. told a member of staff on the way out about the problem, he said he would try and get it sorted. The Kings is an extremely busy popular pub, and it was already packed at 8pm, the bar would be open till 2am, seems not unusual in the area. We had left our car outside in a disabled parking space. Advised to move I,t as that road would be very busy later in the evening. Eventually found the hotels car park, slightly tricky as one road system. .. On our return that night, the pub was packed, music pumping LOUDLY. that continued well into the small hours, and seems like continued out in the road. The Police attended at some point and added to the noise factor with their sirens, as our room overlooked the street, we got to hear all the action., relieved to find that, despite being so busy in the mayhem downstairs, someone had managed to sort the heating out, thank goodness. One good thing was the excellent full English breakfast,

Bar staff are really nice. Breakfast was delicious. Room was ok but did need a thorough clean. Doors were being slammed all night so couldn't sleep at all. Stayed here several times and havent had problems with noise after 2am before. Door staff were very violent and used unnecessary force, punching and kicking 2 men after they had ejected them from the club. They picked up a woman by her arms and legs and threw her onto the pavement face down. Hopefully they have cctv that can be checked
