This place is amazing for a quiet and restful stay, also if you want to have a romantic time. Food at the restaurant is really good, although little expensive, otherwise I would do this as my weekend place to lunch or dinner. For sure a recommended place to stay if you want to be close to the city key touristic points, or if you will go up to Pichincha summit

Failed to show up for airport transfer to property. We got a taxi that got lost then was unable to climb the mountain due to their road conditions. We had to climb the mountain by foot to attempt to check in but the staff had already left for the evening and failed to respond when we continued to ask for assistance. Our flight arrived at midnight and at 2am my family was still not sure where we would be staying the next 3 days/nights.
Taxi driver was awesome and found us a safe place to rest for the remainder of the morning until we could find accommodations.

This was an amazing Sanctuary located in the mountains above the city of Quito. It was very easy to get there. We had the room called the cathedral which was amazing with a natural in-ground hot tub the authenticity of the rooms and the decor made you feel as though you are having the best Ecuadorian experience ever. They take care of you like kings and queens. The views are incredible of the mountains from the comfort of your bed and Lamas and peacocks at your windows and doors so peaceful so relaxing and they even have Wi-Fi LOL firewood for the bedrooms for the furnace and they bring you hot water bottles for your beds our family Can't Stop talking about how wonderful it was to stay at this Hacienda. My children are 11 and 14 and they loved it.

HACIENDA RUMILOMA IS LIKE HEAVEN ON EARTH, THE LLAMAS, THE PEACOCKS, THE FRESH AIR WAS ALL EXCELLENT. I SCORE THIS PROPERTY A 10. ALL THE STAFF MEMBERS WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO PLEASE US IN EVERY WAY. I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT HEAVEN IS LIKE.

We stayed in the Cathedral suite for two nights. Our experience was simply unbelievable perfection. The suite itself is a palace and we could not believe this luxurious space was ours for just over $300 a night when such a room would easily cost anywhere between $1000 and up in the U.S. Not only was the room amazing, but the service and attention to detail was just incredible. Everything was just a dream - from the fresh fruit awaiting us in our suite to the turn down service including hot water bags heating each side of the bed, the absolutely breath-taking bouquet of roses in our suite and the rose petals spread throughout the rooms, the GORGEOUS decor. The restaurant, the bar and the grounds are also amazing. We spent our time watching the llamas, birds and peacocks that roam the property as well as hiking the grounds of the property in general. We also met the owner, Amber and she was amazing! Not only did she take the time to introduce herself and chat with us but she did everything in her power to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Amber ensures our meals were to our liking, sent tea to our room to help with some altitude related discomfort, arranged our transportation to the airport, and even arranged for us to have an hour and a half massage in our suite which was really fantastic. Really, I can’t say enough about how amazing this place is and the staff that works there. They blew all of our expectations way out of the water and made us eager to come back soon!

The property was absolutely beautiful, a wonderful, secluded get away in the mountains while still being 15 to 20 minutes from the heart of Quito. However, it didn't feel like you were anywhere close to Quito while there. The suites were phenomenal, the food was outstanding (and brought fresh to our room at the time we requested), and for no charge they filled the room with rose petals and a huge vase of roses for our honeymoon. The best part, though, was that our driver got his car stuck on the way up the mountain late in or wedding night, and when we called to tell them we would be late to check in, the owner herself drove down and gladly picked us up. That single handedly turned what could have been a terrible experience into a wonderful night, and for less than 300 a night, there is no way you can get a better location, good or service, in all of Ecuador, and definitely nowhere close to that quality for that price in the States. If you're ever in Ecuador, spend the money here. It will be more than worth every penny.

A lovely hotel with tremendous style, personality and a view to boot. Amber was as good a host as one can hope for as she is so knowledgeable about the country and what it has to offer all variety of tourists.

Absolutely the best choice for our lounge zone! Friendly staff, well designed rooms (amazing bathtub!), food so good we took their class & Mercado visit package. The in-room fruit basket was superior and we wikipedia’d To figure out the cucumbermelon! Have already recommended Hacienda Rumiloma to other couples looking for a serious get away in a beautiful location.

This hotel is wonderful! It is a beautiful mountain oasis just 10 minutes outside of quito. We spent 4 days here before going to the galapagos. We did various day trips outside of quito to explore. The grounds of the hotel are so nice the best part is almost being at the hotel! Innkeeper's family and staff take great care of you. Restaurant is great. You should stay here, there can't be any place better in Quito!

Beautiful location (up a steep road that our Uber couldn’t quite navigate, so we had to walk the last half mile) with a lovely room with a bouganvillea growing inside. Food at the restaurant was fine, too.Visited in part to go birdwatching the following morning at 6am on a tour arranged by the hotel with a local guide. Was unfortunately kept awake till 2am by thumping music. Our group was told by the owner that we wouldn’t have to pay for the rooms because of the noise, which seemed very generous. Apparently owner later changed her mind, and I was billed in full. While owner and I have not been in contact, owner told other members of my group in an email that I had said I slept well.... the fact is, I didn’t. Lovely location but was frustrated by the loud music that ran late into the night at a place that also seems to want to care about nature.

A quirky lodge with a few suites in a valley above Quito, advertised as a natural oasis with birds hard to find elsewhere (they arrange guides) — why my group went. But the suites overlook the lodge’s restaurant / club and terrace, which also serves city visitors. We arrived Friday with a half-day bird tour set for 6 am. After early dinner in the then quiet restaurant (big portions, avoid the lamb stew) we fell asleep at 9:30. At 10:30 the club came to life. It was impossible to sleep for the bass thump and voices of revelers. Headphones did not work! The proprietress (American born) said the noise would stop at midnight. It ended at 2. I sadly missed the birding to sleep. My husband, son, and brother-in-law went: great birding, but they were wrecked. The proprietress told us after-the-fact it was busy every Friday and blamed the sound on a new DJ. She agreed to charge us only for food. She did not keep her word. She later offered us a partly reduced charge that compensated her loss with every conceivable fee. She claimed the noise levels outside her club “tested” at 36 dB (which googles to +/- birds singing outside a library!). She accused us of stiffing the guide, whom we paid directly after waiting half an hour for someone on her staff to show up so we could pay! When we disagreed she left the room charge at full price. So: Beware of noise on Friday night (Saturday too?), and the boss-lady’s promises. Good luck getting an answer on the service phone.

We had a wonderful stay. Very comfortable. Staff was excellent. Food was great. We met the owner, who was wonderful as well. Beautiful grounds. We loved the guitarist in the restaurant when we arrived. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at the feeders. Great views from the restaurant and the room. Highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was lovely with traditional Spanish style decor. Its located in the mountains and the views are very relaxing. The food is delicious - but on the expensive side. Everyone working at the hotel is so friendly and accommodating. The only down side is getting there. Its really high up and you have to pass through a rural area to get to it. Also, its dangerous to get up the hill when it rains, as most of our taxis slipped backwards because of how steep the road is. Just make sure youre in a SUV and you should be okay. You may suffer from altitude sickness as well, so bring the appropriate meds. This is the second best hotel in Quito after Casa Gangotena.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here during the winter holidays. The hotel and landscaping is beautiful and the staff is hospitable. The rooms are also one of a kind with decor and a very cozy one of a kind feel...old world furniture, fireplace, and very classic and clean looking Cabañas.A must go when in Ecuador!

Amazing Views, Llamas and peacocks roam around the property. Room was gorgeous.
Like other people have mentioned, this is not in the city, it is on the western mountainside, and it is a good 1-1 1/2 hour drive to the airport.
Also, there is no wifi or tvs in the room (as it's a resort...) so bear that in mind.
Staff, although limited in English, were very friendly. Restaurant was amazing.

This hacienda's authenticity and outstanding landscape have all the potential to be a 5 star hotel, but lack of facilities and services prevent it from being one. There's hardly ever any staff/front desk, and when there is (usually the waiter) they don't speak any English. It's ok if you don't get what you want for your breakfast (we eat too much anyway), but it's really annoying when you try to tell them to help bring down your heavy luggage when you're in a rush to the airport and the taxi's waiting. The restaurant's menu is very pretentious, but food's nothing to write home about. The rooms are very cold at night/morning but there's no a/c or heating. Other than that, the staff's extremely nice (though no English), the place is very clean, and pretty. It's just not enough. They try to sell you their outrageously pricy SPA and jacuzzi, but boy, have they got bigger fish to fry!

The hacienda is really spectacular if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing night. Small, only 6 rooms, and outside of the city enough so there is virtually no noise. Lovely views of the mountains and of Quito. The food in the restaurant is even better - among the best meals I have eaten in Ecuador.
Unfortunately I'm really annoyed by one major thing: our room was advertised as having a fireplace and a bathtub and had neither. Our booking sheet (from hotels.com) AND the hacienda's website both clearly state fireplace and bathtub - our room was the Cathedral suite and it just wasn't true. Apparently they had a large deep tub but it was removed about 6 months ago. Never had a fireplace. Because the hotel was full we couldn't consider moving to a different room.
I emailed the hacienda a week ago and have not heard any response. It's a shame because so much of the stay was wonderful. However I would only recommend staying there if you contact them by phone ahead of time and makes sure you are getting what is advertised. It was hugely disappointing to arrive and not have two of the key features we thought we were paying for.
It is also worrying that no one has responded to my messages in a week.

We booked this location for our last night in Quito after a week in the Galapagos. I had hoped to get there before dark--but I did not realize how far this place is from the new airport in Quito. It took us an 1.5 hours to get from the airport to the Hacienda. The place is lovely. Our room was very large and very clean. The restaurant served dinner until 11 pm which suited us well as we arrived late. WIFI was avail in the lobby and worked well. In the morning we were able to see the grounds, which were lovely. The llamas were very close by as were the peacocks. The area was well maintained. I would recommend this place as a quiet out of the way special location. Just be aware of the distance to the airport if you have a tight schedule.
The hotel arranged transportation for us which was nice. It cost $65 each way.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for four nights. We loved the place! It's very charming, feels like a relaxing mountain retreat, and has a wonderful view of Quito. The staff was extremely helpful in making reservations, arranging transportation, and providing tips for dealing with cabs in Quito. Their restaurant is excellent and as good as any restaurant we tried in Quito. We would definitely stay here again!
We found that it was consistently a $10 cab ride to and from downtown Quito. There is WiFi in the restaurant and other common space, but not in the rooms. There's lots of comfy seating in the main building, so we were happy to walk over there when we wanted to look something up online.

The staff were all friendly and accommodating, esp Julio. This becomes your home. Llamas, peacocks, hummingbirds everywhere you look. It was my birthday and the staff took it upon themselves to provide me with a special dinner in a room filled with flowers and balloons ( no charge). I will go back every year if possible!
