We stayed for 2 nights on the tail end of our island hopping and it was the perfect place to wind down in Papeete! Lots of parking, close enough to downtown area, great pool and beach setup as well as a nice lagoonarium. The room was very spacious for 4 and had a huge balcony.

We absolutely loved our nights we stayed! Beautiful place! Great service friendly staff awesome pool and area to relax in the shade!

Overall our stay was good. The pool area was great with a large palapa that kept our fair skin out of the sun. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom towels need to be replaced. They were extremely frayed and worn.
2.5
Great service with very friendly staff.
The park with flower and local plants is beautiful and the pool is very nice too
Positives:
Sea view from the balcony
Confortable bed and big room
Lovely pool
Convenient and lovely restaurant with beach view
Negative:
Poor wifi

A great one night transition hotel. Very peaceful atmosphere with nice grounds and access to the beach.

We stayed for 8 days. The room was spacious and clean. Beds and pillows were firm. They had an on site restaurant that had a variety of items to choose from. It was on the water front. The gardens around the hotel were beautiful. Nice pool with a view.

Need an extra key and key to the gate. Location is fantastic with Dalia and Carfour & Papaeete nearby. However….
Breakfast was not good at the Hotel. Food was old and not freshly cooked. I only took three bites. I don’t normally complain… I just don’t return.
2.0
One worn out towel for shower. The shower was not hot, room was clean, but very dated, bed was like sleeping in a rock.

Not too happy with the restaurant. The 4th time dinner there, I had a bad experience. After paying the bill, we were walking out of the restaurant and this brusque woman said "hey, did you pay your bill?" I was stunned as I just got done paying. I felt so insulted and didnt want to go back there on our last night.
3.0
Very animated dining options. No ice machines. Weekend day pass people make the pool noisy.

chickens on the property are horrible. They wake you before sunrise. Hot water in the bathroom stopped working. They fixed it in an hour, but it shouldn’t have happened. Weird location tucked into a neighborhood and although they are on a beach, there is no beach access.

Arrived late flight en route to Moorea and needed a night stay and it served the purpose. AC worked well, bed was comfortable. Shower a bit dated and no washcloths but very acceptable for a one night stay. No elevator to 2nd floor made it difficult with heavy luggage.
5.0
A great place to stay put but not a lot to see locally.
2.5
Great location and beautiful surroundings. Walking distance to Jojos pizza and food trucks :)
Watching the sunset on the beach right at the hotel was also very special!

The room was big and comfortable. Big bed. We were only for the night as our flight was early next day. No restaurants in surroundings, not very nice at night. We had dinner at the restaurant in Hotel. our flight was very early next day, we reserved a taxi for early morning. The taxi arrived delayed. the reception was closed so there s no way to call another taxi.

The staff was nice
We were greeted by a roach in the bathroom
Airconditioning was questionable, the room was not properly cooled

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Tahitien, even if it wasn’t as idyllic as we hoped.
The rooms were big, the beds were comfy and the resort was quiet.
The beach isn’t great, a black sand public beach, with lots of litter on it.
When we checked in, we enquired about a car rental, the receptionist said she would get that booked for us, so we went to confirm the following day, just to double check and we were told one hadn’t been booked as that rental place wasn’t open. Not sure what would have happened if we wouldn’t have gone in to confirm, as they hadn’t let us know.
Overall though, a good stay.

the hotel arranged taxi for us which was cheaper than the shuttle otherwise we would have done the hotel shuttle. our room bed was very comfortable, a/c worked, TV did not work. Dinner at restaurant was very GOOD! Pool was refreshing. grounds were well taken care of and pretty.

I like that the hotel was next to a beach, but unfortunately due to my late arrival I didn't get the opportunity to see or walk on the beach. It was a quiet hotel complex, but I didn't like having to walk by myself late at night through an open area to locate my room. I was not familiar with the hotel and the path was not particularly lit very well. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom needs updating.

Olde Worlde charm. Excellent Restaurant - Excellent and good sized proportions of Polynesian foods
5.0
The hotel rooms are constructed at an angle so each person’s patio is very private. The grounds are lovely with a nice pool. There is a restaurant right at the black sand beach edge. They serve a buffet breakfast at about $20 per person.
The hotel is in a quiet, safe area. It is on the opposite side of Papeete than the airport. So taxi ride at least $20 from the hotel to the city center. Also from airport to hotel at night it was $50 taxi. I suspect that was a padded fee.
3.0
Pros: the staff were good and helpful. The facilities were up to date and in good shape. The grounds were nice.
Cons: the rooms are all spread out over a large property. Some are on the second floor and obviously they couldn't have elevators. The restaurant is not air conditioned. There is really no dining nearby except for lunch. In general, the city seemed run down and not terribly safe.
1.5
The hotel is a reasonably hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. Hotel grounds well cared for. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly.
The location was reasonable, approx 3km’s from Downtown Papeete, nothing a short bus ride or taxi ride couldn’t fix.
The restaurant was left wanting. The service was very poor, sometimes very slow, and wait staff abrupt. This was extremely disappointing, especially given there were no other eateries within a reasonable distance.

Tired, old motel like property. No elevators. No one to carry suitcases up stairs. Front desk doesn't answer when you call. Tiny bed pillows. I could keep going...

This is a wonderful property, a little on the dated side, but I loved my stay. I have now stayed twice and will book again. Very European.

I traveled all the way to Tahiti to spread my son’s ashes in the ocean, and this hotel on the Expedia website website said, bask in the sun on our black sand beach. There was no place to lay on the beach, and it was filthy, with trash. I had pre-paid four nights, but we ended up checking out after two nights and moving to the Te Moana. They didn’t have towels for us to go to the pool. I would like to get a refund of the two nights that I prepaid due to false advertisement. The emotional importance of my trip could not have been spent at the royal Tahitian.

Front desk was awesome. Tried very hard to accommodate our very early arrival. Bathroom had a bit of mold but otherwise everything was clean. Grounds of hotel and the pool are lovely. My only disappointment was that the hotel was too far from anything to walk in the hot/humid weather.
3.0
Towels were very limited and worn, a bit rough, not soft. Coffee items and soap in dispensers were limited/low not filled sufficiently.

I love the pool. I love the view. It realy needed some up dating. Some tree trimming and bushes. Very out dated. The price was great for no more than we were there it was ok. If you're only staying one night I would recommend it more than that no.

Overall good property, basic but very clean. Quite far from the city centre by busy street.Water front but no view, only in the restaurant. Nice swimming pool and beautiful ad well kept grounds.Food was excellent for lunch but disappointing at the dinner time.

I read reviews saying the property was outdated, but we found the decor quite pleasing. The property is beautiful and staff are kind. We enjoyed the pool, but the steep incline in the pool can be dangerous. It is slippery.

Reception staff ( welcoming) brisk and not friendly. Other days adequate but not very happy to see us. Same in restaurant. Limited Breakfast food and birds flew into our food at table. Ick.

The swimmingpool was great and the trees flowers...all

Nice staff, nice grounds, pool. Restaurant food was mediocre. Room old but clean

Time for a revamp. Property has the 60’s/70’s feel to it. We chose to stay here to see the black sand beach and it was a nice sight to see. Staff very friendly and restaurant was great as well with free live entertainment! I can’t get over the spaghetti bolognese! Soooo good and we've even been to Italy!

Stayed on a 2 day stopover in Tahiti. Chose this one as it seemed a decent budget option and, due to flight times Vs ferry schedule, it made sense to stay on Tahiti as we couldn't spend 2 nights on another island.
In terms of quality, the hotel was clean but very dated. The staff were helpful (we checked in late and they kept reception open, booked us taxis). We had an issue with our room key not working, but this was sorted immediately.
The hotel is just outside Papeete and it took us half an hour to walk from the hotel to the waterfront, although there's not much on the way except garages as it's a main road.
The restaurant and bar on-site are fantastic! No more pricey than Papeete, lovely people, live music on the weekend, wide menu and, importantly, great food!

Was hoping to get early check in since I was just staying for half a night till my midnight flight. Staff wanted to charge me an additional nights stay which was not worth it for the few hours. Ended up sitting in the restaurat that was not yet open so I brought in some snacks to hold me over till they open. I promptly got told I can't bring outside food into the restaurant. Terrible experience. would not reccommend.
