The view from my balcony was fantastic, and I did get to see a ship "locking through." The property is a little bit dated (the bathroom is very cramped), but it is very clean and well maintained. The staff were welcoming and very helpful.

Such a fabulous treasure of an Inn. Your own little balcony to watch the big ships transfer down Lock 7.
Please tho- the wifi needs to be looked at. From midnight til my checkout in the morning- no wifi.

Great location across from Lock 7 of the Welland Canal. Room was clean and as I remembered from my last stay in 2005.

Unique with balcony and view right onto Lock 7. It had been great watching the ships managing the Lock while drinking coffee on the balcony.

I have never stayed here before and found the Inn very clean and the staff is friendly. The grounds are kept well and it’s a very quiet and peaceful area. There are places close by for food and coffee and stores.
I really enjoyed this Inn. There is history at this Inn which makes it interesting.

We booked 2 rooms. I shortened one room reservation by 1 day. This triggered unnecessary complaints from the owner. Unfortunately room 9 had live ants and in room 14 I found a dead ant in the bed. In one of the bathrooms (room 9) there was hair on the wall and in the other bathroom room 14 the bathtub was not draining. Towels were not clean in room 14.
The last night of the stay we got locked out of the room after 9 pm. We could not reach anyone at the property by phone and there was nobody at property to let us in. That night we had to book and pay a room at FourPoints hotel in Thorold. We came back next morning to gather our belongings .
This was not a pleasant experience at all.

This is a basic inn right on the canal with nothing much else around it. If you read the hotel description, you would know this.
It’s ideal for a 1 night stay very close to Niagara-on-the-Lake
It’s nothing fancy but importantly it’s clean and the front desk staff very helpful…for those of us who can’t figure out the air conditioning.
Only cons is not having anywhere to grab a bite within walking distance and the noisy air conditioning. For a one night stay, I would definitely book again.

This property was unique in that you were able to watch large lake ships transit the Welland Canal Lock 7. On this visit were saw many and we were surprised at how quiet this was.
Property was clean, comfortable but could benefit from having a hair dryer in the room.
All in all I will return to this property again.

Interesting to watch the ships passing by on Welland Canal. Front desk extremely friendly. Beds were a little uncomfortable. Too hard for my liking. Otherwise fine.

Ok this place is amazing in its location and view of the locks. We rented bicycles (not from the hotel but we had them delivered to the hotel.) and rode for one of the days we were here. Want to see freighters and sailboats and Viking Cruise ships gi straight by your hotel room wind ? This is am the place to stay. Family run business. Very basic accommodations. No microwave. But a mini fridge. The A/C (a window unit mounted by the door actually) was running continuously and some might find that annoying and loud. But we appreciated the white noise. And we could have turned it off I suppose. For the money and the view and the staff and realizing that it isn’t the Ritz it was a fantastic place. Would stay there again !!

We had a great room on the 3rd floor overlooking Lock #7. We watched 2 large ships pass through the lock. Our room had a balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The room was clean and spacious. We would stay there again for sure.

Very clean, very quiet and very reasonably priced. Great view from your room of the welland canal and lock 7. Highly recommend!!

It was so unique being able to watch the ships passing through the lock. It was nice that the inn was away from the hustle and bustle and noise of the main attractions, but still just an easy 15 - 20 minute drive away. The facility itself is older, but very, very clean, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. It was in the 90's while we were there, and we read a prior review about the cold air from the air conditioner not filling the entire room, so we brought a small fan with us and that worked out great. We have already booked a return trip for the fall months.

Everything about the hotel was amazing except the fact that the AC was a bit too loud.

The location was perfect facing the locks. All balconies faced to the locks.
Rooms were dated they were clean and very comfortable. Each room had a window airconditioner

A pleasant if not luxurious room but comfortable and with a table and chairs! So you can eat and play board games without perching precariously on the bed. And the boats go by. Staff and owner are really nice and so accommodating. We love this place.

Very outdated, basic accommodations. The shower curtain and bedsheets were dirty. Would not stay again.

Great view of Lock Seven and boats using the lock. Nice balcony to sit on to watch these ships transit the lock. Room was clean and had comfortable chairs and a table to use. Beds could be a little more plush but all in all I had a good sleep.

We chose this property as it was reasonably close to Welland Flatwater centre to do a triathlon the following day. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and having a balcony was a bonus. We enjoyed watching the freighter boats come through the locks. It was easy access to restaurants up the road. (Pho 18)

we liked everything about our stay. room was clean and comfortable. favourite thing was location as we viewed 2 ships going through lock 7 when we were in the room watching from the balcony

Old - fashioned style but in good condition, clean, great location overlooking Lock 7 on Welland Canal. Very good price, too.
8.0 / 10.0
The room itself was ok, beds were very hard like people have mentioned in other reviews. Has everything you would normally find in a 2 star hotel except for a microwave. There is definitely a musty/mothball odour when you first enter but I guess you get used to it because it goes away or at least did for me. The best part however is the balconies which all face the lock so several times throughout the day you get a little show, watching all the boats go through.
All in all with it for the experience, would definitely return and recommend.

Checking was easy, manager was really nice, gave us an option of which floor, we stayed with the top floor for better viewing of the lock, my wife who had recently had surgery just took her time.
Room was basic as advertised. Fridge, coffee maker and supplies. Bathroom products clean towels etc.
Beds were good. Only drawback was there was no outlet by the bedside table that we needed for my wife’s Cpap. The closest when was behide the bed. Fortunately I had a power bar with me, problem solved.
Excellent site for viewing the ships. Do forget to google “lock 7 schedule” for times.
Would I stay there again, you betcha, 20 minutes from the falls, 20 minutes from Niagara-on-the-lake.
