Did not expect to be staying in an inner city neighborhood of a former mill town with pit bulls and pot consumption outside the front door for $200 plus per night!!!!

I could not believe "Inn at the Agora" was an option when I was looking for a hotel to stay at in Lewiston. I booked it right away. After driving over 2000 miles to get to Lewiston, ME I was greeted by the owner - by name - and was treated like royalty. I have been staying here for more than a week and the services of the staff and owner are 5+ stars. The hotel has a small kitchen area where guests can get a complimentary snack or a hot drink. There is a small fridge where I can put my leftover take-out meal, to heat up for later. The staff and owner have treated me with kindness and have been a source of local information for me while I get to know the area I am moving to. I love the small signs the owner sets out to assist me with using the coffee maker or contacting them if I do not see them at the front desk. Extra covers or pillows are not a problem for the staff when I request them. I have a pet with me and there is a place for him to walk and potty. I love the gathering/dinning area. I have enjoyed the atmosphere and sounds of the other guests going about their business in the hotel/mansion. It feels real warm and relaxing. I have never felt like a corporate employee was watching my every move. I feel like I have lived here for longer than I have been. The historical aspect of this hotel makes it so cool to stay here. There is historical literature about the hotel, and of course the owner has additional information if you are interested. Make this your choice

Absolutely charming mansion-turned-Inn. Splendid hospitality. Interesting and cordial innkeepers. Friendly dog. Do spend some in the parlor for a game of chess and complementary wine. The owners also have a splendid social venue in the massive church complex they also purchased next door. I had a fascinating guided tour.

Great rooms! Friendly property! It was very good experience outside of the heating system being too noisy.

Lovely old house with beautiful, well kept rooms and decor. Lots of history. Billie is a terrific host.

We had to leave. The property was in a dangerous neighborhood, a slum near crack houses, gangs hanging around near the hotel.
4.6
Quiet, comfortable, homey amenities, clean, well appointed bath, good coffee. Friendly, unpretentious, attentive owner.
Good experience.

Large bathroom, beautiful decor, central location.

The specious room was very nice. The coffee was excellent and the tour of the church was most informative.
Overall, I would suggest the Inn at the Agora as a stop whenever a visit to Lewiston is on the agenda.

B&B feel, like staying at your great aunt’s house without her being there. Comfortable bed - super cute - little extra amenities show thoughtfulness by the owner

Wonderful stay. Polite staff, very clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. We were very impressed with the vintage beauty of the Inn. We will definitely come again

It was a lovely old mansion next to a lovely old church. And there was a courtyard to enjoy between them. I just wish the weather had been better while we were there so we could have used it.

Authentic and historic inn - The room was spacious and the =staff was very responsive.

Agora thought of every little detail (bathroom book, makeup
Removal, snacks, etc) for a relaxing stay. The owner
also has a delightful sense of humor: a little rubber duck in the tub.

The innkeeper was extremely friendly and the inn was homey and comfortable. Our room, the Kelsey Suite was beautifully decorated down to the utmost detail. The bed was so comfy with wonderful sheets and even the towels were much softer and fluffier than most places I’ve stayed. The building was quite secure and overlooked historical Kennedy Park. I wouldn’t hesitate to return!

I had a lovely stay at the Inn and hope to return again soon, it was a wonderful experience.

Wonderful old place. Very well set up and very clean. Only problem is activity on park bench across the street. Lots of loud talk. Occasionally foul-mouthed.
4.6
Liked: Historical. Unique. In town location. "At home" feel.
Disliked: Showing in a freestanding, clawfoot bathtub with 360° of shower curtain and no place to put shampoo bottles.

The only concern we had is that the Inn is a 2 story bldg. (really 3 plus stories of a decommissioned former Catholic Church. The 3rd floor and above are not open to use.). The bldg. is the former rectory with at least 20+ foot ceilings so getting up from the first floor to the second is a big climb on stairs that go straight up with a curve at the top, and no elevator. .The rooms we staid in.(.#5).. had 2 bed rooms and one bath. The bathroom is brand new but the shower/bath is a free standing bathtub with feet and a shower/ hand sprayer and plastic curtains that hang around the tub from a rack above the tub. The are no hand rails plus the tub is more then 3 feet above the floor set about 2 feet from any wall and thus hard to get in and our of. And use of the shower requires the careful attention to the curtains which move about in the spray and easily allow the water to escape the tub and on on to the floor... and to leak into the first floor. With nothing to hold onto falling is a real possibility. We are ages 79 and 77 with some walking disability so bathing was always an experience! No falls though.

Very friendly staff quiet (no one else there when we were there). Beautiful but small room wonderful claw foot tub
