Everything was absolutely great, i didnt realize the resort was seasonal so that was a lil bit of a bummer but will absolutely go back.

Stayed for three nights and no one ever came to restock or clean our room. Breakfast that was included was really only bagels and cereal and very limited for someone with food allergies or diet limitations. I expected more for the price as it was expensive to stay at the lodge.

I loved the location of the Palmer Gulch Lodge. Closed to all the sights we came to see. Beautiful location and the property offered everything we needed - plus! Outdoor pool, pickleball court, dining, specialty stores- ice cream, pizza, fudge, wine/ coffee shop and a singer in the evenings. Plus horseback riding and lessons for the kids. We brought our 14 year old grand nephew and he had so much fun.
The staff at the from desk was extremely helpful in reference to what up see and do. Thank you!
Plus there was a free continental breakfast every morning.
The property is pet friendly and did not charge extra for a pet. We had our cat with us and the staff was very nice to greet her.
The lodge is showing its age in reference to our room. The room temperature was difficult to control and the heating /air unit was very loud. The bathroom light was connected to a very loud fan- not a separate switch so it woke everyone up if you need to use the bathroom - or makes it difficult to hear the TV if someone is in the bathroom. The sink is outside of the bathroom - so not privacy getting ready in the morning or night. The shower head was a misty spray and went everywhere and the bathroom sink was clogged. The rooms are old as well as the linens , blankets and bedspreads. The mattresses were okay but the pillows were very lumpy.
Would I stay again? Yes- because of the location, staff, and amenities. We used the pool everyday and if was well kept and there were plenty of chairs.

Staff was friendly and the amenities are great.

The location is excellent and beautiful. The facilities have a ton of amenities, and great family features (pools, playgrounds, laundry, etc.).

During our vacation seeing Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse, we stayed just one night at the Lodge. We wis h we would have stayed 2 to 3 nights. The hotel was amazing, the pool and outdoor activities was top notch, and the breakfast was super convenient and easy.
We ended up booking a horse back riding activity (day of) and it was our kids favorite thing we did during our 10 day vacation. Our trail guides were super fun and engaging (both from Rochester >> one from NY and the other from MN).
On our way back east from the Grand Tetons (we looped back to go to Custer which we did not see the first day we were in Hill City), our kids asked if we were going to stay at the KOA Lodge again -- they loved it so much.
One thing to note, there were tons of Harley-Davidsons in the lot because this was duing the week of the Sturgis Rally. The Lodge offered a bike washing area for the riders which I thought was such a great and easy thing to offer. Loved seeing the extra effort.

Nice place but no phone service.

Such a nice setting. The staff is so nice. Our room was ready when we arrived. Lots of amenities for the entire family. Our room was clean and had a cute balcony. We will be back!!

Lots to do, just so many people.

Thank you

Very clean and bed was comfortable staff was friendly

Nice property that treats guests very well. The room was very nice and comfortable. It was convenient and offers many amenities. They do a nice job of making anything guests may want available. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the property.
4.4
No phone. No TV. No wifi. Staff refused to give a refund. A terrible experience and won’t be back.
4.4
On site dining was great!
4.4
My family really enjoyed the Lodge. We had fun in the pools, rock climbing wall and mini golf. The breakfast options at the lodge were lacking a bit but did the job. Beautiful area and very close to all the Rushmore Activities

This resort was amazing! So clean, beautiful, and lots to do for kids!
4.4
Kids want to live here! Thank you!
4.4
Our stay was quick but great! We were able to book for longer and in a cabin next year!!

This is a great place for families and reunions. Lots to do on the property and surrounding areas. It is a beautiful location. Trash and towels not changed daily but that is ok by me. Towels were readily available and if your trash is full you just put outside your door. We stayed in the lodge and not a campsite. My second time here and would highly recommend if you have kids.
4.4
Great place to bring the whole family and have such a great time

The staff was very courteous and helpful whenever we had questions. The room was clean, and the location around Hill City was perfect for a trip that incuded visits to many locations throughout the Black Hills.
4.4
Most beautiful and fun place over ever stayed. My family and I had the time of our lives!
4.4
Great place to meet people, fantastic for kids. Staff were friendly. Hotel is becoming outdated. Low water pressure in the shower and can hear footsteps of people walking upstairs. But they keep the outdoors clean and offer a lot of amenities for families to do and experience.
4.4
We liked all the activity options and being able to eat at multiple places without leaving. Restaurant food a 3.5 but the staff was very kind & attentive. Great pizza.
Everything was very walkable, however some kids would benefit from a bike or scooter.
I was deceived by the “bike rentals” they were not adult or regular bikes.
We enjoyed having the deck off our room, that is a must. Beautiful views everywhere & easy drive to Mt Rushmore & key towns/attractions.
4.4
Great place to stay with kids! So many outdoor activities that are perfect for toddlers to bigger kids. Outside area was always clean and well maintained. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.
4.4
The hotel was nice and I liked having a patio off the room, parking however was a nightmare in the hotel parking lot. guests were allowed to park their ATV's in hotel parking lot so there were not a lot of spaces for cars. Really not a very good system. They should have a designated area for guests to park their ATVs since the vehicle parking lot is very small as it is.
4.4
We enjoyed our stay and the available activities. Wasn’t aware so many activities cost extra money. Cold breakfast only was disappointing and the time it began was too late for us starting our day. TV remote wouldn’t work and channel selection was pitiful. I would recommend a sign up/out sheet for pickleball racquets because we wanted to play but they were always in use. Overall it was ok, but was expecting more from this place.
4.4
Convenient to multiple local destinations.
4.4
Lodge in need of upgrades but great amenities on site and fun activities for kids. Staff were friendly. No room cleaning and state of room are reasons for lower cleanliness scores. Mildew on shower ceiling etc. but it is a camping location so we expected some of this.
4.4
We traveled from Yellowstone to stay in the black hills before heading to the badlands. The atmosphere was great for our 2 toddlers, they spent a lot of time in the pool and on the playground. We did wish that breakfast had more warm options, it was only the basic options. Overall enjoyed our stay!

good job

This lodge is in the middle of KOA campground-- that was not clear when booked. The continental breakfast was very lacking in the lodge. It was unclear how to access some of the 'amenities' and they were constantly out of pool towels. There is no wi-fi-- not in the lodge or your room. Maybe in the laundry room--down in the strip mall area. There is no cell service either. The casual restaurant was slow, not very good food. It might be great for camping- RV or in a cabin--but not close to other things and the rooms were cramped.

Amazing stay! So much to do on the property!

Took our grandkids on a road trip to the Black Hills and we based our stay here. It was central to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Keystone, Custard State Park and Hill City. We stayed in the lodge beside the pool. The kids loved it! There is so much to do right there at the lodge. The lodge is old but was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were pretty good. The fan with the bathroom light was soooo loud - there was no sneaking to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The free breakfast was only cereal, yogurt and muffins or bagels but that was as advertised. All in all we had a wonderful time and I would be happy to stay here again.
4.4
Such a fun property with a lot of activities for kids and families to do! There are 2 restaurants on property plus a coffee and wine shop. My only real complaint is the WiFi does not work there which doesn’t sound terrible if you want to disconnect but the phones hardly work to even call or text people you’re staying with. Overall a good time though and all the staff were very nice.
4.4
Great place to stay with kids. Stayed in the lodge with a balcony. Lots of things to do
4.4
All the outdoor activities. Two pools!
4.4
We enjoyed our stay just wish they had Wi-Fi.
4.4
We stayed here three nights for a family vacation. It was clean, the staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was standard continental with very good coffee.
We loved the outdoor pool and hot tub. The kids played pickleball every day (they can "check out" paddles and balls at the front desk). There were so many activities for the family to do on site, which was nice to come back to after sight-seeing around the Black Hills. The restaurants at the campground were pretty good, too.
I recommend this property and would go back there again!

Beautiful setting!
