Beautiful place surrounded by unique nature and history. The adjacent historical porcelain factory and related buildings, like the church, are preserved exquisitely and well worth a visit. The setting on the river makes for a serene and relaxing stay. The breakfast buffet has quite a good selection of Portuguese delicacies.

We enjoyed our stay at your hotel.
The staff was friendly , helpful and professional.
We especially enjoyed the indoor pool and exercise room.
The breakfast buffet wes excellent!
We also enjoyed the Vista Alegre ceramics on display and neighboring museum.

My husband has stayed here previously on business and thought it would be a place I would enjoy. It was, however our stay was marred by the very poor service. This was due to a lack of trained staff . It was August , the hotel was busy and there were just not enough staff who knew what they were doing to give a level of service you should be able to expect in a 5 star hotel.
The facilities were good, breakfast was also good
and the food offer was good when you finally got it.
I’m sure if you visit at less busy times of the year you will enjoy your stay.
It was a disappointing end to our holiday

This is a fabulous 5 star hotel. The room was very spacious, with every amenity we could wish for. Amazing and extensive breakfast buffet with freshly prepared and constantly replenished selections to suit any palate. They even had the makings for mimosas. We also had an excellent dinner in the restaurant one evening. Food was impeccably prepared and inventive- gourmet twists on local cuisine. This was our favorite of 7 hotels we stayed in during our recent Portugal road trip.

Very spacious bedrooms, extremely comfortable beds & finally a Hotel which provides good pillows of different sizes.
Breakfast was a buffet breakfast including fresh, cut fruit, plain & flavoured yoghurts, pastries, cooked options (thankfully with real eggs used for their scrambled eggs & not a powder base mix), bacon, beans, mushrooms, sausage, different breads & rolls, pancakes & crepes, fresh fruit juices…..this was a real treat.
The gym is also a large room compared to the norm. The pools are both indoor and outdoor options & yes, they are large.
Sauna & steam rooms are poolside inside as is a jacuzzi.
Plenty of parking is available on site.
Vista Alegre is world renowned and is worth taking the very few steps to visit their shop & their museum, especially off-season when the weather may not be perfect

We thought we’d treat ourselves to a one night luxury stay which turned out to be quite the opposite as the electricity went off: no lights, shower, toilet flush, couldn’t shave, dry hair, have clothes ironed or get a hot meal in the restaurant. The manager said ‘it happens’ - if it happens why wasn’t there a contingency plan? A beautiful hotel but poor customer relations. No explanations, no information, no compensation, not even the offer of a glass of wine to help get through the night. To add insult to injury they booked us a restaurant in the town which, when we got there, was closed - we had to laugh! Definitely a “memorable experience” as it says in the hotel information.

The room was good and had also a good view but really bad wifi and the maintenance/standard level was not the best. Irons are not made available, so you would need to order the service and then be dependent on availability and paying for it.

Very nice just had some difficulty with the AC. There aren’t many restaurants near the property as well so just something to note.

The reception staff is poorly trained and does not match the 5* standard of the hotel. Also no help with the luggage was offered, which is standard in a 5* hotel. Otherwise, the hotel offers everything a 5* hotel should have. Beautiful rooms and great location.

Phew the hotel is pretty dated. Most facilities closed. Breakfast staff very rude. Would not stay here again unless it was an emergency.

During COVID, any traveler is likely concerned about safety and cleanliness and availability of the services, so I would have expected that the hotel would take extra care to communicate these things. The front desk did not communicate well and there was no written information, so we were uninformed that 1) breakfast was on a timed / sign up basis even if included with the room 2) housekeeping needed to be requested otherwise was not provided.

The service at this hotel (with the exception of the friendly gentleman who led us to our table at breakfast) exists on a sliding scale between indifferent to guests' existence and hugely inconvenienced by you.
Not friendly at all and certainly not in keeping with the standards you might expect from a five star hotel.
Rooms are very comfortable and stylishly laid out - this is the best thing about the place, without a doubt.
For a hotel with so many rooms, there is only a very small pool. When we went for a swim in the late afternoon, there were a dozen people in the water and this made it quite impossible to swim at all. There were several people with their beach towels on the grass because there were so few loungers available.
We went to the beach bar for a salad for lunch. The pleasant sounding rustic salad arrived in bowls so small as to be insufficient to feed the youngest of children. And this was not a case of it being small portions of haute cuisine, it was a few leaves of rocket, with some peeled apple and cubed chicken out of a packet. My wife's version was even worse than mine, with almost no chicken, mushrooms or asparagus. At €14 a pop, I felt this was ridiculous. The offering, in terms of drinks, was uninspired and akin to what you might expect from the most basic bar.
The communal spaces were often in unfinished concrete, which was ugly.
I think this hotel gets by purely by its association with the Vista Alegre name and its location. Disappointing.

Wonderful hotel. Great location, amazing layout. Minimalistically decorated but that's exactly what it needs. Very spacious areas. Great breakfast, for Continental. Rooms were just right. If I could change one thing it would be the bathtub curtains. This is mostly a message for the hotel. It's an old style tub, placed away from the walls, so, unless you want the water to go all over th efloor, one must close the curtains around us, 360 degrees. Once the water splashes down, it generates enough force to "vaccum" the curtains inwards, causing them to stick to your body everywhere. Bit annoying. On day 2, I just let the floor get wet. But great hotel an ddefinitely recommend to everyone.
