We needed a stop on a cross country trip, and found this little gem. A lovely listed Georgian house with a very nice garden. The owner was very welcoming, the room was lovely and the breakfast delicious! We'll certainly go again.

We had a great overnight stay at The Lions and John & Pablo were excellent hosts and couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. The room was spotless; the bed incredibly comfortable and the full English breakfast was superb. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Newark and a big thanks again to our hosts for making it such a pleasurable experience.

Wonderful little B&B run by John and Pablo. Beautiful room, huge bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Great breakfast and excellent hospitality. Short walk into Newark Town. Remains of the old castle on the river are worth a visit. Lovely river walk.

A very clean, comfortable night’s stay. Clean, crisp white bedding, slept so well. It’s a Grade II listed Georgian building. Perfectly cooked breakfast with very personal touches. Loved the interior decor and furniture very tastefully done. Garden to the rear is stunning. Pablo and John are so hospitable and the attention to detail is very evident. Fantastic stay at The Lion. Hosts where magnificent...helped us with taxis and check-in logistics as we were attending a wedding in Kelham. Rooms were spacious and clean, and the breakfast was brilliant. Cannot praise them enough!

Pablo and John very friendly and attentive. Beautiful room, warm and cosy, comfortable bed, massive immaculate bathroom with gorgeous stain glass window. Breakfast freshly cooked to order. Fantastic service all round. Wished we could have stayed longer to appreciate it’s splendour. Looking to return in the summer to enjoy the gorgeous garden area.

The host, John, could not have been more understanding when we were late arriving ( not our fault). So kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Lovely comfy bed and a beautifully freshly cooked breakfast

We had a very pleasant stay. Our hosts made what was a family memorial service (close by) easier to accept and allowed us to entertain other immediate family members in their b+b. The accommodation was clean,the breakfast were hearty and delicious with home made jam and marmalade by Pablo

A lovely venue. Comfortable and clean with perfect hosts (John and Pablo) who couldn’t do enough for us. The room was spacious, adequately heated and tastefully decorated. Bedding scrupulously clean and breakfast delicious. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, my husband full English. Complimentary wine or G+T during our overnight stay was just another little personal touch. Would definitely recommend to others, and will be back. Within comfortable walking distance of the historic centre of Newark.

The hosts, Pablo and John, were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was large and clean with comfortable beds and a good quality en-suite shower facility. Breakfast, we chose salmon and scrambled eggs followed by breads with home made jams and marmalade, was tasty. The property has a homely feel and benefits from its own parking spaces and is also within walking distance of Newark's attractions.
