Beds were comfortable enough and the room was clean. About the most you can ask for out of an old historic building. Just wish they had mini fridges in the rooms

My bad! I reserved a "smoking" room. Ive stayed in smoking rooms before but this was super......special, to say the least. this room was, for real, on a whole other level. I used to be a smoker and honestly it doesn't bother me like this did. It was very "chemically" smelling and almost burned! For $200 a night i felt it was way over priced. It is an historic hotel so it does have that charm. The staff was friendly and helpful but as a "local" i wont be staying there again. Hope this helps someone.

Building definitely needs some TLC, hot/cold on the shower was horrible. Every flush or water adjustment from another room affected ours. Showering was miserable.

The ground floor is beautiful. They make the parking very convenient by transporting you with a golf cart back to the Hotel after parking. The rooms are the very WORST rooms I have ever stayed in and should NOT be rented out to the public. The carpet was so old that it no longer stayed flush to the floor. The entire floor smelled of urine. Tiny and dark room. The smell was the worst & I did not want to write this review but felt that it would be wrong not to.

Our stay was amazing, lots of room for the whole family. I loved the history and the genuine historic state of the hotel. The only complaint we had was the shower was nearly impossible to get a good temperature of the water. Overall we would love to stay there again.

Location and history are what you’re paying for with the Historic Franklin Inn. Parking 2 blocks away. NO DAILY ROOM SERVICE. For our $800 stay for the weekend I was very frustrated to learn this. Especially when they had “service needed” signs to hang on the door knob. I placed the sign on the door and came back that night to dirty towels, full trash can, and unmade bed. When calling the front desk, I was unapologetically told there is no room service and they would have someone bring clean towels. The room had a nice view, but was in need of updating. Bathroom had CAKED calcium buildup on the shower head, dingy towels and bathtub with peeling caulk and stained tub traction. The room itself had peeling popcorn ceilings and goodwill furniture. Also, no mini fridge to store leftover/drinks was an inconvenience. Cleanliness throughout the property could definitely use more attention. Mounds of cigarette ashes near the benches, vomit next to the trash can in front of the hotel, finger prints all over the doors/windows/elevators. And don’t get me started on the restaurant Legends downstairs. While this is one of the nicest features of the property, the service for dinner was rude. We had an excellent breakfast there, but when returning for dinner the inexperienced hostess was unapologetic, and the young male bartender was extremely rude while sitting at the bar. Overall, I appreciated the location, historic aspects, and the friendly door man.

Shower was a disaster for Seniors. My husband is 92 & there was NO WAY he could climb into a claw foot tub with no bars. Totally awful!!

Property has trailer parking off site, they have staff to take you and your luggage to and from the parking lot which was very nice. Our room was on the 2nd floor, elevator was quick. The bedroom window looked right out onto the veranda bar which was a little surprising for any privacy but it was honestly fine, just surprising lol

I love the Property makes me feel I’m back in the 1800s. Always a good experience!

Room was old and outdated. Had a queen and twin bed. Not comfortable. Had a window AC the size of a toaster barely keeping the room cool. Hallways smelled musty.

The staff was wonderful. We stayed at the Franklin before and so had very low expectations but it was cheap. Not clean. Light came between AC and window sill. Windows so dirty. Carpet was dirty.

Great location on Main Street. Older hotel, but i would stay again.

The room smelled of mothballs and the carpet was stained all over. Hot water was so inconsistent we could not shower without freezing or scalding. Massive amounts of paint/enamel was missing all over the tub and sink.

We have stayed at the Franklin for the last couple of times in Deadwood. We enjoy the hotel and the restaurant. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We plan on staying there again.

This historic hotel is all about location and gambling. Our "suite" was dingy, had mold growing in the bathroom, a SUPER loud a/c unit, and no fridge. We requested a fridge because we had a medication that had to be refrigerated and they charged us an extra fee per day. The beds were bouncy and collapsed in the center and I was uncomfortable with the idea of sitting on the carpet.
If you plan on spending all your time in the casino or across the street at Outlaw Square, then this location can not be beat. We found our stay so unpleasant we elected to leave a day early (and they didn't credit our bill).

The room was clean. Not immaculate, but good. The problem was shades didn't cover the whole window so it didn't get dark at night. And there was a crazy amount of noise! Not good when you are trying to sleep. We use to love it there but it seems to be going down hill. Too bad!

The property is in desperate need of renovation, which is in the planning stage. My only other hit is the housekeeping. We put out the placard to get maid service 2 days in a row, but never got any service.

The historic hotel is really a poker machine casino. The hotel has a small waiting area upon entering, otherwise machines.
Queen bed was stained and unmade. Called front desk, a set of single bed sheets was delivered.
The restaurant is recommended and saved the day.

We were very disappointed with our stay. I was looking forward to staying in this historical hotel. The rooms pictured were lovely with vintage furnishings and decor. Our room was very small, had a small TV, spots on the carpet, no coffee, no refrigerator or microvave, no chairs or desk/table, no iron or ironing board. The bathroom had newer fixtures and was very clean but nowhere to put anything making it very inconvenient. It definitly did not look like a vintage hotel room.

Hotel is old and rustic, ok with that. Parking is 2 blocks away with limited shuttles, not ok with that!

Cracks in walls and ceilings, floors creaked when walked on, old slow elevator. Told we would be picked up and taken to parking 2 1/2 blocks away when checking out but nobody showed up after waiting 15 minutes - we finally walked their, carrying our luggage there as street was blocked off and thought it would be difficult to return with car and pick up luggage afterwards. Bell hop was very friendly older gentleman and quite knowledgeable about area. Vending machine for root beer drinks was out of order. Shower was old but powerful yet sink did not have enough power to shave with. Entire building needs to be demolished and rebuilt from ground up.

It was what you expect from an old historical hotel. If you want all brand new…. Don’t stay here but if you want the experience I recommend it.
