We arrived at the hotel around 12h40pm and the check in was at 2pm. The lady at the front desk said that the room was ready but i had to pay a fee for early check in. At almost 1 hour away she still wants to charge me $20 which gave us a bad taste in our mouth since all other hotels in our experience happily gave us free early check in according to availability when we arrived early like 8am. Here it was only 1hr away and of course we were exhausted by the strike in this country already affecting our itinerary. But there was no consideration.
So we paid the fee. Everything else was fine. The gentleman ar the desk was helpful for some documents i needed printed out. Upon check out though they were able to hold our luggage for a few hours free until our flight that afternoon (which i believe should be a standard courtesy from all hotels).

The staff is great and smily and helpful. Room was small, and bathroom even smaller. The area is okay, near the historic center.

You’re going to love this beautiful Jem of a historical hotel, in the middle of the center of Santiago close to all the tourist sites & museums. But what was more amazing was the staff: Super-nice and excellent attention to everything!
From the friendly, perfect check-in by Miguel and the help from the other front desk staff: Francisca and Gino… to the great food and superb service by Daniela the restaurant manager and her whole team, I highly recommend this hotel.
Thank you.

Staff was friendly and professional. Made the experience visiting chile unique by helping us plan trips to Valparaiso and vina Del Mar.

The rooms are hella old, I understand is an historical building but that doesn’t mean they don’t have to get new beds if necessary and also there is not enough light in the bedroom. The thing that bother me, the most was that they cut out the light in the middle of the night, so I had to go to the front desk to get that fixed. The pictures actually don’t show the real Ambience of the hotel. I do have to say that most of the staff was very friendly and they were always willing to help.
As far as the stuff goes great, the rest was very basic and lacking.

This is a beautiful historic property that’s rich in character. Staff was very helpful. Really convenient to major tourist sites but doesn’t feel “touristy”. There are small convenience store, cafe, fruit stand, etc right across the street. Great experience staying at Hotel Casa Zañartu!

Our room is next to the hotel’s restaurant and when you open the door to leave the diners can see inside of our room . It also gets noisy when people and staff congregate in this area .
We asked for a taxi from a male staff that worked late afternoon to go to Terminal San Borja where we were to take a bus to San Antonio , even showed him our ticket that contains the terminal address but he just kept repeating Terminal Alameda and I said no, we want to go to Terminal de San Borja . Assuming he understood where we want to go , he eventually called a taxi . Taxi driver brought us to Alameda Terminal which he claimed the hotel caller had directed him to bring us We directed him to go to San Borja instead ; almost missed our bus . Also , the hotel clerk quoted us a much higher fee for the taxi than the actual taxi meter even with the ran around between the 2 bus terminals .

It is an interesting old building and very authentic Chilian older style inn....its a bit annoying that the rooms face the interior and you hear everyone in the am and it wakes you up....other than that it was very nice
4.3
The staff were so wonderful. They helped us get transportation for nine of us to sightsee and get up the bus terminal. They found us very good taxi drivers snd good prices.

If you are looking for a historic property to stay in while in Santiago, this hotel is it. Very much feels like a time capsule, in mostly good ways. I would warn you though, if it’s the summer in Chile, this hotel has no central AC and it is HOT. Opening the windows at night cools things down enough to sleep, but just barely… and with the windows open there is A LOT of street noise, so it’s kind of a double edged sword. Breakfast was meh… not great, but it’s something. Staff were super kind and attentive.

Great historic property located downtown Santiago. 1/2 block from the Subte, and Plaza de Armas, Museo PreColumbiano, Museo Nacional, Plaza de la Independencia are all within a short walk. The staff are friendly and professional, rooms are clean and simple. Great price?

Very local

Was a very good place with a little walk to main sites had to park two blocks up street which worked out fine, very good value

This is a charming hotel in a historical building in the old center of the city. The staff is courteous and helpful.

A beautiful hotel in a very good location. Staff were excellent and very helpful. We enjoyed our multiple stays in the hotel.
4.3
Gracious and welcoming hosts. Comfortable room in an older building. Great shower.
We are 70, but healthy and city-aware. The area around the hotel is fine during the daylight, (in mid February that was 9:15pm), but some could feel uncomfortable after dark as the area closes up early.

Very good

Beautiful hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Great location. The restaurant food was delicious. We would have liked to have a mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cool, but outside of that, this was a perfect stay.
4.3
This is in an excellent location, about 20 mins walk to/from airport bus and 10 min straight walk to centre.
Cheap eats nearby. Friendly, helpful staff.

Efficient and great rooms

The staff was very helpful. They even printed our boarding pass, made phone calls for us and were extremely patient and polite. The room was large, well decorated. The breakfast was complete and serbes in a lovely patio

Things I liked about this property: first and foremost, the staff was AMAZING! So very helpful and super friendly. They truly try to help with everything. Securing taxis or other transportation, food and things to do recommendations, and help with directions. Most but not all of the front desk staff is English speaking. The property itself is beautiful. The hotel is a historic building with lots of wood floors and gilded mirrors. Very attractive.
Things I disliked about the property: no air conditioning and not a super safe area after dark. We were in Santiago in summer proper. It was 92F. Therefore, it was very hot in the rooms. The hotel has portable coolers to put in the rooms, but they are not super effective. They are much better than nothing, and they definitely take the edge off, but they are not AC. You also have to put down a $100 deposit to have one in your room which you get back assuming you don't break the machine. The weather does cool down at night and you can open the windows, but it is loud in the city, so sleeping with the windows was not an option for me. This hotel is located very near the city center, so during the day the street is bustling with lots of people. After dark, it's a bit scarier. Even during the day, one local cautioned us to not go a certain way around the block because there were "Robbers and pickpockets" that way. If you stick to daytime hours in the populated areas, you are good.

Great location near the city center within walking distance of the plaza del armas, Brazil barrio, and Cerro Santa Lucia. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. There is a restaurant right on site. It’s a beautiful building with golden framed pictures of all the presidents. Colonial historic building.

Really nice old Hotel. Staff was great

The staff is by far the best of any ive ever stayed at (and i travel alot). They speak some english and go way beyond in their effort to make your stay perfect. The building is so beautifully persevered antique..the parque flooring is breathtaking. Yoga right next door in as iconic building. Its people that make a place and the staff from front desk to dining are stellar. You will feel at home at Casa zanartu..wonderful

This hotel is located in what it used to be an old very large private house built in the late 1890's. Of course it is no up to the 21st. century. Our room was on the second floor with no elevator. I am incapacitated so I went up to our room with help from two staff members, and stayed there until the time to go to the airport the next day. The room is not air conditioned, so we had to the windows open to get some air. The bathroom is tiny and you have to be a contortionist to get in and close the the door, no toilet paper holder, so a roll was left on top of the toilet water tank. Only one towell holder, so the other towells were left on the beds. Don't forget the towells before getting in to the bathroom. Be carefull about what you need, because there is no telephone to call the front desk. Well, I guess you get the picture.

Staff is extremly kind and helpful , excellent location 5 minutes walk from Plaza Major, spacious room.
4.3
Good location near tourist areas. Breakfast consists of a ham and cheese sandwich and small cup of cereal and yogurt. Cleanliness is average. No fridge in room but there’s a refrigerator in the common area. Front desk service was excellent.
4.3
We had a very poor experience staying in this hotel. They gave us their worst room because we had booked via Expedia and had a special offer.
The room was very small ( not like the photos) , after complaining they moved us to a bigger but super noisy room. They were asking for extra money for this.
The breakfast was so limited and poor, serving commercial Nescafe with hot boil as coffee!
Although it looks like a charming hotel, I do Not recommend it. We checked out and booked in another hotel for the following day for much better rates and waaaaay more comfort.

Having a good restaurant is convenient for solo traveler. And hotel staffs are friendly.

Superb Ambience and Kitchen staff. Made our trip very enjoyable

This hotel is located in a large historic house conveniently located near Santa Ana station and walking distance from major landmarks like Plaza de Armas and Plaza de la Constitucion. The rooms are very basic and not equipped with a bar fridge, closet, iron, etc.. There is a fridge downstairs if you need to keep some leftover food cold. There was a strong smell from the bathroom, but this may be related to the city's sewer system.
Most staff we interacted with were able to communicate in good English and were very attentive to our needs. In fact, they were able to move us to a different room with A/C after spending a night in a room with a fan. Our new room was smaller and on the third floor (there is no elelvator!) but we agreed to this trade off given the hot temperature at the time.
We didn't feel unsafe walking around but we would not venture out very late at night - same applies every where in Santiago. If you are looking for more hustly and bustle, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for something quiet and nearby the historic centre and a subway station, this is not a bad option.
4.3
we stayed two nights there. It is close to all major attractions in Santiago. Staffs are super nice. Breakfast is not buffet style but a set breakfast that include juice, yogurts, fruit/nuts, toasts, ham, cheese, egg etc. Free coffee is instant coffee. They charge a very reasonable fee for regular coffee. You can order extra if the free breakfast is not enough for you.

The room was on the third floor with no elevator access. Travelled with seniors and was placed on the third floor. The staff were very friendly and carried our luggage up the stairs. Staff also spoke English which was very helpful

I love the staff here. Hotel is nice. The room we got this time has a queen bed and a twin. Bathroom is separated from bed area. We had a very good night. They were very accommodating about us leaving bagagge when we stayed here last weekend and picking it up on our way back last night.
