Great option within walking distance to city hall and national palace.

Such a lovely one night stay here. The property and room was so charming.
We arrived on a rainy day and our room had the windows open so our bed felt very slightly moist which was the only downfall. As a vegan I didn’t have too many options for breakfast but I am used to that. Overall I would absolutely recommend coming here! It can be hard to find at night by car. But the staff is so helpful and kind.

The breakfast personal was really good and serviceminded.

Tricky to find but probably one of the best spots you can stay at in sintra

Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay. This place was amazing, clean, good service and with a great location. Staff is very kind, specially Ahmed Hassan who helped us with all the info that we needed. Breakfast was very very good, we loved our stay at Casa Holstein!

I stayed in a small secluded villa w my daughters. Nice and quiet but very centrally located. Great staff and good recommendations for dining and things to do.

Great hotel. Near downtown. Room excelent. Will come back.

We loved this hotel! It’s a beautiful property located near the National Palace. We had a fantastic time on our babymoon. Breakfast was convenient and the hotel staff were lovely. Would recommend in a heartbeat!

We loved this property! The manager, Hassan, went the extra mile and gave us an upgraded room. Anything that we needed during our stay, was taking care by Hassan, a true host. The property is very peaceful and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. A nice peacock kept us company. The breakfast was delicious and the food was fresh. Location was great, walking distance from the city center. We enjoyed our two night stay on the property! We hope to return soon.

We so pleasantly surprised with our beautiful room and the surrounding estate. It was may favorite experience in Portugal. Highly recommend.

Hassan is a dedicated employee, we saw him every day. He is polite and efficient. The resident peacock made life interesting, especially when he tried to block us from leaving our room. Don’t be afraid of him, he is harmless and makes for a great story. Breakfast was simple but the most delicious we have had in years. Their baking is done onsite, who doesn’t love a warm piece of bread or croissant? We loved our stay here.

I just spent one night here in the villa, and it was fantastic! Beautiful small hotel with amazing breakfast, free parking, and easy walk into old town Sintra.I would definitely stay again.

Great place with most helpful staff.

This is our 3rd time at this wonderful CASA right in the centre of Sintra yet so sheltered from the choas of the very close and walkable historic centre. Perfect choice.
4.6
Beautiful hotel in the center of Sintra. We could easily park our car on hotel area. We had a large and nice room, and the breakfast was delicious. Very friendly staff.
Upon arrival it was difficult to find the entrance, even more difficult because a road was blocked due to works. We needed to call the hotel for help, and then we succeeded to get there

I can’t say enough positive things about our stay…from the amazing breakfast, the helpful staff, the beautiful room and property…..walkable to the main square in Sinatra and a number of attractions. We would stay here again in a heartbeat…a hidden gem for sure.

We thought we were only renting a room at at a hotel. Turns out we rented a room at a royal-family's estate. This is a first class place to stay. The breakfast buffet is the best we have ever had anywhere in Portugal. The location is perfect, just a couple of blocks from the heart of Sintre's historic center.
4.6
Although the property is sitting in a naturally beautiful and green setting, but access to and from was so confusing.

This place is truly a hidden gem. An oasis among Expedia properties I have visited. Would highly recommend this place.

This wonderful location, though potentially challenging to find initially due to road closures when relying on navigation devices like Google, offers a secure and complimentary on-site parking option. Upon your arrival, you'll be greeted by exceptionally friendly staff who are more than eager to extend a warm welcome and guide you to your accommodation nestled amidst serene gardens.
During your stay, don't forget to say hello to Oscar, the delightful resident peacock, known to make occasional appearances during breakfast on the dining room patio. Be sure to treat yourself to the delectable cooked breakfast and freshly brewed coffee.
When you're ready for dinner, it's just a short, leisurely stroll to the town center, where you can explore various dining options and even catch transportation up to the castle, or opt for a scenic walk if you're feeling energetic.
A simple but lovely gesture during your stay is to exchange morning greetings with fellow guests as you head to breakfast. A friendly demeanor can add an extra layer of charm to this already delightful accommodation.

Awesome place awesome service!

This was a nice, quiet getaway. It felt like a travel back in time. The property was beautiful and ancient. The pool was relaxing.

This hotel is a storybook dream. The buildings, grounds, gardens, delicious custom made breakfast, even the peacock speak of a time gone by but with today's conveniences. The most successful element in this hotel is the warm, gracious staff, who goes out of their way to help. I could hardly enjoy the things Sintra had to
offer because I wanted to stay all day long at Casa Holstein!

Small oasis in a busy and beautiful area. Staff were kind and excellent!

Good location, walking distance to downtown.
Friendly staff.
Negative point is the lack of s SmartTV in the room.

Nice taste, good breakfast

Poor Casa Holstein. It was probably a great hotel pre-Covid. You can see it in its bones.
The grounds, one of their points of pride, were in horrible conditions. Looks like zero maintenance for the past two years. The boxwoods have fallen victim to
European boxwood blight.
The staff were all non-Portuguese. They knew nothing of the surrounding area. Great restaurants close but you had to figure out that for yourself.
I was told by a local that the elderly owner of the property died a year or so ago and the folks who lease/operate the property have let it go downhill. No one in the family seems to be holding the operators accountable.
With that said, the rooms were nice. Linens were okay but not of the quality you would expect from a hotel of this stature.
We stayed in the villa. Words of warning! DO NOT RENT THE VILLA UNLESS YOU ARE IN TOP PHYSICAL CONDITION!! The villa is down below the hotel. The stairs are long, steep and treacherous. I can not even imagine navigating the hike to the villa in the rain.
With this said, we liked the hotel. There is a special charm to the place. I hope the owners hold the operators to a higher standard and return Casa Holstein to its grandeur.

Very clean and pretty property. Located close to many attractions. Will come back at some point again.

Loved the location. 15 minute walk to the city touristy area but such a quiet location away from the business. (Except for the peacock, but he was respectful and didn’t start his calling til after 6:30 am). Loved the available on site parking. Was a little disappointed as the pictures are deceiving, but the charm of the place made up for it. I would definitely stay again!!

Friendly staff, nice breakfast. Room was ok, in a basement like area. A bit smelly, like it was closed for some days.

This is an historic establishment, with great character and charm. The rooms are attractively furnished in ‘Country House’ style, and are generously proportioned and provided for, (though their phone system needs an overhaul, as I couldn’t make a local call on the room or the one at reception!). We especially liked the pool terrace (great view at sunset), and the faded grandeur of the grounds, though they do really need ‘taking in hand’ with regard to the rear gardens and the pool itself, which is slimy and full of leaves.
The staff were all friendly, and the breakfast staff provided us with generous fare, served on our terrace. (Vishnu was particularly impressive, but everyone made us welcome). In general the rooms were clean, but on arrival our floor needed a good mop, which did our after prompting.
Our main problem was the smell of damp in our room, and the effect it had on my partner’s asthma- he had several coughing fits in the night, due to the damp atmosphere, and because there is no extraction system in the bathroom (Room 9, but other rooms also seemed to lack this). In the short-term a de-humidifier is needed in that room, and cleaning and spraying to remove fungal spores.
