Great location and friendly staff! Good value for money!

Friendly, helpful staff and the whole town had a very relaxed , safe feeling to it. Our fridge was stocked with beautiful food. We climbed Kosciusko and the food was perfect for the climb. Loved our stay here. Magical town.

Super basic and dated rooms. For the extreme daily rate the TV didnt even work on all channels and had no smart connectivity. Breakfast was terrible.

Terrible communication! We tried to call hotel multiple times and NO ONE pick up the phone at all. No reply from email! What kind of hotel service that not contact guest if guest not yet check in! No courtesy call, no instruction on how to check in if arrived after check in time! We tried to call during operation time but noone answer! What a stressful experience! Room is much smaller than what we expected and dated! No heater in the room. Breakfast is just plain! Breakfast dining room was so dark!

Noisy pipes at night, no staff on reception, but you get what you pay for. It does what it says.

Convenience

It’s an older hotel, as it was summer there was plenty of hot water and room was a good size for 2 adults and a small child. It was a great location for skiing and hiking. Breakfast was basic but better than nothing. Room had a microwave, kettle and tea and coffee making facilities but no plates or cutlery for microwave use.

For the price it was ok. Thredbo as a destination leaves much to be desired. It’s tired, outdated and expensive

This property would be fine if you are a mad keen skier and plan on being very drunk for the rest of the time. The only redeeming feature is the proximity to the ski lifts, inconvenient for anything else. Needs renovations badly! Food was appalling.

1 star accommodation at best. No staff no service. No heating. Accommodation for 4 adults was a one bed and mattresses on the floor. Dinning room was cold and dark. Only thing going for this hotel is location. Avoid at all cost. Do not stray here.

The only reason to stay at The River Inn is it’s proximity to the Chairlift. The foldout bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever tried to sleep on.The staff at reception never even bothered to get out of their chairs to assist with check in or check out.

Thredbo cancelled lift access due to not enough snow. Perisher was however open. The River Inn also own a property at Perisher. Wanted to move to Perisher as we were catching at bus up the mountain and didn't have any transport to get from one to the other. Travelling there from the Gold Coast. Refused to even consider moving the booking even though we offered more money. Very strict booking practices. Be very careful and read the fine print before you book.

Nice and decent for a short stay. Don’t expect luxury. Their staff, Tom was really polite and helpful. Would definitely come again in future.

Great spot to see the sites of Thredbo - off season but would be good any season. Great friendly and helpful staff. Loved the lounge area with the fire as we had bleak weather.

Great staff, restaurant and bar.

Very comfortable stay, the shower was very good (hot)
The room had a small electric heater - not sure if it made a difference
Front desk was not attended, perhaps a staff shortage. Check in was done upstairs and a very easy process.

Fabulous place to stay - a bit of a rabbit warren of rooms which the kids loved! Great breakfast, comfy beds, tasty and well-priced pizzas and gins at the bar, and the location was brilliant.

Overall the staff in the bar where I checked in were friendly and it met my needs as I was there for an event so I’d stay again. But a few things to prep for if you’re staying:
* There’s only on street parking which can be a nightmare in Thredbo.
* The walls are paper thin so you hear your neighbours constantly when there’s no background noise, take some earplugs if good sleep is critical.
* Curtains have to be fully closed all night as there are piercing lights outside the window.
* The bed is pretty hard but pillows were ok.

Location

Quiet and comfortable. The shower had no screen so water flowed all over the bathroom floor which seemed a bit silly. Also despite what it says in the wotif description there is no longer a hot tub. And we missed the complimentary breakfast because the sign in the room says 7-10 whereas the one at reception says 7-9.

The location

Property was in a great location, however the beds were old and extremely uncomfortable. Bed springs were poking through the mattress. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Included breakfast was poor with health standards not met. Considering the premium price paid to stay there very dissatisfied with the property.

It was a great experience! The only thing I think they can improve is to add more options in the breakfast. Everything was great!

Great location, good breakfast, warm and cosy room.

The hotel advertised that they had an open restaurant and bar which they did not. The hotel staff helped themselves to the bar that was closed and partied until 1:30am. The included breakfast was out of date UHT milk and stale cereal.

Check in was great. Got a text to say room was ready early. However it was still 2:30pm as check in isn’t until 4pm which is very late.
Bathrooms are fine but dated.

Loved Thredbo village, was our first stay in town. The hotel was good but serves no expresso coffee in summer and we had paid breakfast
3.0 / 10.0
We booked for a bunk with a king bed but ended up getting a trundle bed which was almost attached to the floor. Location is good if you are using the chairlift to the mountains and using the facilities at Treadbo Village. Restaurant was not opened for lunch and dinner during our stay but it did offer continental breakfast which was nice before a day hike.
There was no one at the reception during the first 2 nights of our stay and cannot get replacement towels and toiletries. On the last day, we met a couple of cheerful receptionists whom are quite helpful especially the male one (did not ask for his name).
Not many restaurants in the area and travellers should prepare some dry/emergency food supplies if you do go to Thredbo.
