Was great my first time in Palm Springs wanted to stay there cause the history of the place loved it !!!! Will be back so happy I chose this one will prob be the only place I stay when I go to Palm Springs!! They had a Photo Booth u can take and email the pics to yourself for free Rooms are big it was 109 and the ac worked good I got room 4 the higher the room number the closer to the pool u are I don’t swim so it was perfect location

The hotel and room were easy to access with the codes sent to me. My room was mostly very clean. I appreciated that there were several coffee pods as I need at least two cups every morning. The only downside for me was that the AC was quite loud, but had to be on...I mean, it's Palm Springs after all.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. I had a serious air condition issue during my whole stay. On the second night the A\C gave error and started to not cooling. I couldn’t tell anyone as the property is a non-staff hotel. When I woke up I called customer care and they sent a technician a couple of hours later in the afternoon. He said he reset the a/c and said now is okay then left. The room size is big and the ven when the technician said it’s okay, there was really not perfect cooling in the room but I said myself it’s okay it’s better than having no a/c. However in the same night the a/c gave the same error and stop cooling again. It was a nightmare to trying to sleep without a proper air conditioning while 110 degrees heat wave in PS. I called customer care again on my checking out day yesterday. They said they are very sorry about all this inconvenience and they will get call me very soon. Since yesterday no-one called me actually. Hotel has nice decorated big rooms I really liked it when I first arrived. But air conditioning made my stay quite uncomfortable under dessert heat.

Unique approach to hotel/motel

Fantastic hotel in beautiful Palm Springs. Highly recommend The Monkey Tree as an authentic slice of desert classic with a great pool / tub and sauna/cold plunge. Located away from the loud busy strip. Can’t wait to return

Very close to downtown and popular restaurants. Place was vintage, found it really cool.
Great spot to stay with a large party. Parking wasn’t an issue when we were staying. You are looking at approx. 10 standard parking space, 2 for accessibility, and about 2 for EV.
The suite we stayed was Presidential, it had 2 full baths which made me and my wife excited! Room was very colorful, lots of space. AC was blasting on cool which was a plus since it was almost 100°F when we visited.
Room and facility was clean, no foul odor or smell.
Easy to access, you have the main gate code and another for your room. The hotel does not have staffing active 24/7, so do note that if you need frequent assistance.
Going back to the location, it was 20 minutes away from the Cabazon outlets and less than 1 hour away from Joshua Tree National Park. Also a few mins away from Elvis Presley’s Honeymoon Hideaway house which was sadly now private property but cool to look at.

What a cool hidden gem in Palm Springs! This spot was such a nice surprise find. Rooms were simple and clean, and we loved the hot tub and pool/patio area. Elise and staff were friendly. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Great location, unassuming front entrance, enter into a literal paradise.

NO SHAMPOO! I have minimal requirements for most motels I stay in - a comfortable bed, relatively quiet, ice machine, working toilet and shower and soap and shampoo. This motel uses dispensers, not little bottles of shampoo where you can tell whether they are empty or not. After getting in and getting wet, I reached for the shampoo dispenser only to discover the dispenser was empty. I found no additional supply in my room and, since this motel is totally contactless ( which they seem to consider is a plus), there was no office to go to and person to speak with to get the problem fixed. There is a number to text, but I was wet and it was an hour before check out. Mini fridge worked and the loud a/c didn’t bother me, it actually blocked other sounds.

Need to update the room. Need paint, wood repair and shower repair. Need to clean the windows. Room only barely passable for appearance. No staff on the premise. We received two codes for the front gate and the room. I went for a walk in the morning to see the sunrise. Gate code didn't work when I returned so I was locked out.

It’s a lovely property and the rooms surrounding the courtyard make it feel very much like staying in a private home.
It’s unfortunate that planes start flying out overhead at 5am as I’m a light sleeper.
I wish the hot tub and dunk pool were cleaner. And small details like a tripping hazard on the mat in my room should be taken care of.
A little more care would make it a 5 star experience

We enjoyed our stay. Room was clean, pool area is relaxing. Hotel has a hip vibe. Tesla charging was awesome!

After I had arrived at Monkey Tree Wednesday March 22nd (for 3 day stay) l, I sat on the couch to relax. However, when I sat down, the couch sank very close to the floor. I had to crawl my way to getting off the floor. As I was getting back on my feet, I hurt my knee. This couch and matching chair was not safe for me to habitat there. Also, there was a matching set of bar stools with a table. I am unable to get up and balance on the bar stools. My ankle does not bend & have little ability to move. As stated in my request to have accommodations since I have a fused left ankle, there was no furniture except for the bed to sit on. Immediately I contacted the property. I reminded them I had inputed about my physical limitations when I made the reservation. They said there was nothing they could do to help me. Without any success, I called Expedia Customer Service. All I received was a recording that the office was on holiday. You advertised that "As a customer, I could get help 24/7." This was not the case. According the ADA regulations, I am suppose to get accommodations for my disability. So, I had to find accommodations elsewhere to address my disability. I require a full refund due to not fulfilling accommodations as I had originally requested.

Great MCM design. Clean, great pool, quite. Had a great night!

If you want a kitschy experience in Palm Springs, this would fit the bill. The hotel property definitely has that mid-century vibe. And the pool area was very nice and manicured. The parking lot was a bit tight, but there are enough spots and we never had a problem finding one. They even had a few charging stations for EVs which came in handy. We stayed in room 1 which was large and had a private patio. Upon entering the room we were hit with a strong bleach smell. I’m weird and kinda like the smell of bleach but it was even a bit too much for me. We opened the slider and resolved that issue. Overall the room was ok, it definitely looked better in the pictures. I know it’s a mid-century vibe, but some things were a bit shoddy and in need of repair. For example, the shower could definitely use a regrouting, it was pretty really dingy and even with the bleach it didn’t look clean. The vanity (original to the hotel) could use a new paint job and hardware (what’s on there now is rusting and looked sloppy). The room could also use some throw rugs. I feel like this place could be a real gem if they just put a little bit of money and elbow grease into it.
Location wise, the property is not near downtown but it’s not far. Also, I could have sworn that when I booked, bikes were available to use. That is not the case.

Enjoyed the easy access and environment for the most part. The sauna was an amazing touch too. Though the premise was peaceful and quiet, walls are very thin and neighbors were a little loud. In addition, WiFi was very poor. Also the a/c and heat made a noise that was disruptive so we didn’t use it which was a bummer. Good stay for the price but just a couple of misses.
4.3
Quirky property near the airport, excellent communication regarding check in etc which is all done electronically. Would stay again.

Stayed there Wednesday, March 6th. Place had no power that night. The facility itself was decent though, rooms are a good size and it’s quiet.

Hotels.com?AvantStay does not inform you about their check in rules at the time you pay for the stay. You are sent an e-mail requiring that upload your Drivers License, Passport or other information. The e-mail appears to be a phishing attack, but no one at AvantStay knows what phishing is. Conveniently. You cannot opt out of this. After getting the request via text and a conversion, I had to submit to a facial biometric scan and then download the app to my iPhone. The data sharing details required by Apple divulge AvantStay will sell your data and denotes they will access your Contacts in your iPhone.
This is completely outrageous. Since AvantStay doesn't know what phishing is, who know what they are going to do with perfect identity theft information they possess. I had my cc compromised in the past via bookings.com because they were hacked. PISSED OFF!

We really loved our stay. Amazing hip little property. Could use a microwave in the room. And could use better cleaning. Our patio furniture was caked in dust and very dirty. Other areas of room/property also needed more cleaning.
The giant tub in our room and large windows were awesome. Bed very comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

I have stayed here several years in a row and always had a wonderful experience. This year however, the temperature in the room was cold and i couldnt adjust the unit even after asking management. the jacuzzi on the coldest night was barely luke warm and no way to adjust it. I am usually welcomed with cute little branded items, but nothing this year. Seemed a little lax this year.

Love the mid century vibe of the monkey tree! Great pool area with comfortable lounges for everyone!
4.3
Loved the 60’s vibe and the history of this place!
4.3
The scenery was very beautiful and comforting. As far as the stay was a blast to the past, since everything is vintage and makes you feel like you are from that era. I will most definitely come back to this place!
4.3
Couples getaway! Very quiet, private and loved the heated pool in February!
4.3
Nice mid-century property.
4.3
no human contact was not welcoming, cold , barren, in contrast to a social environment. had to re-enter key pad code X2 to enter room each time. carpet unglued and a potential hazard in room, no microwave, so meal prep ,even with take out or wanting a hot cup of coffee, nope. light in hallway to bathroom did not work. great concept, but not carried out fully.
4.3
Only complaint is we couldn’t adjust the shower head, water was pretty harsh coming out. Not much to complain about is it 😄
Very nice place!!
4.3
The water took forever to get hot. Spouts too close to back of the sink No broadcast TV.No staff present on premesis
4.3
Great stay, extremely easy and virtual check-in process. Only stayed 1 night so I was unable to use the ameneties to the fullest but there is a nice clean pool area, and complimentary bikes.
My only cons for my stay is that the walls are a bit on the thin side so you can hear planes from the airport and door closings from the neighbors, but I still slept great.
That and the bathtub had some discoloration from age. probably just needs some extra TLC in that unit but I would definitely still stay here again.
ALSO, biggest reson for me staying here was the EV chargers. One of the few properties I found that had one. There are 3 Tesla Only chargers, and one (hiding) normal EV charger (slow), but super convenient for overnight charging included in the stay.
4.3
It was an interesting place, no direct interaction with hotel staff everything was done through email and text. Room was clean and comfortable except the heater did not work as well as I liked. They seemed to be near the airport as in the morning we could hear planes coming over. They had a nice pool and hot tub. Arriving in the dark proved a little challenging as they have limited parking and wasn’t easy to spot. They have charging stations for EV’s.

1st time in palm springs and the monkey tree was awesome. I fell in love with this property from its charming decor and above average amenities. No issuies whatsoever with check in, got all the codes and details ahead of arrival. Didn't see staff on property after 7pm but honestly you shouldn't need them, everything is in your room and around the common area.
Thank you to the staff who keeps this place running. We will definitely be staying at the monkey tree again!

This hotel is great! The rooms all face the pool and have patios. My room was clean and comfortable.

We stayed here for a company Christmas party and only planned to spend the night and what a mistake! I would spend a week here! There were so many amenities (free of charge) and the rooms were spectacular. I'm a big fan of the 60's and 70's and was surprised to see how authentic and well-decorated the rooms were! The pool and hot tub (sadly the only amenities we used) were well kept, and we felt safe, clean, and at ease. I will definitely be staying here next time I'm in the Palm Springs area!
4.3
Very nice property. Pool patio hot tub was great. Used the BBQ as well. Bit of road noise through the back wall of this side of the complex. Curled up at edges area rug was a major tripping hazard. Bikes were fun but the 2 old ones are dangerous as the chains are very rusty and when the chain pops off you have no brakes except dragging your feet.
4.3
The fact that there is no one onsite to help you through the registration process is most frustrating. Had to wait over 1 hour under a 103 degree sun to get a room, trying to get assistance from their customer service via phone. Terrible experience. They don't realize people may not have battery in their phones or have trouble connecting with them. They are very slow at responding. Check-in is not until 4 pm, which is a major problem if you arrive earlier. There is no public bathroom in the property. I'll never repeat with them.
4.3
The entire stay was unique. Loved it very much
4.3
No fun ,very cold pool.totally boring .never again
4.3
As others have mentioned there does not appear to be any staff on site at the property even though their text correspondence says they are available 8a-8p. When I arrived my electronic code did not work. I notified the staff and was told to call customer support.
Most troubling to me however was that shortly after I got into my room I discovered the door between my room and the room next to it was UNLOCKED and there was no way to secure it on either side. Given I already learned there was no one on site, I placed the coffee machine in front of the door and hoped for the best despite feeling fairly unsafe.
Also unclear why customers are advised to check in before 6pm as there is no one to check you in anyway?
