Friendly staff, nice location close to the main street but not right on it. Excellent breakfast. Things inside look updated and not worn down.

We had a lovely stay at MadreTierra - from our initiial welcome (including a refeshing glass of freshly squeezed juice) to the comfy room and delicious breakfast everything was great. Staff were also very helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport. Would highly reccommend!

Lovely hotel with a fantastic breakfast! Just two blocks walking distance to town makes this a great place to explore the Calafate area. The staff are very warm and the room was super comfortable with great bathroom products and small touches to make you feel right at home.

I travel quite a bit but was impressed with the staff. I especially want to thank Daniel who helped me with a late checkin. Never have I had such care taken of me by a staff member. He was marvelous.

Average hotel with good location. We were out right by the reception and while at dinner money was stolen out of our room’s safe. I had discussed paying for breakfast with the front desk attendant and he insisted on USD instead of pesos. I returned to my room and quickly grabbed the money and paid for the breakfast we had. When we returned later that evening it appeared that someone had “turned down” our room. Straightening the sheets and moving a blanket off the bed. A little sign from the hotel staff was placed on the corner of the bed. As we were checking out the next day we cleared out the safe to pack and found $40 USD missing. We notified the front desk and we were told there was a key to open the safe and they had cameras they would review to see if someone had snuck in and taken the key to then steal from our safe. It seems very clearly to be an inside job. We had to catch a bus early the next day and were staying in a location without wifi until now. Will be following up with the owners.

We enjoyed our stay here. Great location. Friendly service. Well equipped room.

A very unique property, very nice staff with personal touch (rooms don't have numbers, they go by colors, and first names of the guests are written on the chalkboard on the door). There is a very cozy common sitting area with and even a yoga room.
And by the way, breakfast is delicious.

Very charming boutique hotel a short walk from the Main Street. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included and every day was many fresh fruits, made to order eggs and meat and a delicious variety of fresh pastries. I would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to my next visit! Thanks to everyone!

Wonderful local flavor, close to many shops and restaurants. Excellent and helpful staff.

This simple property is exactly like in the pictures. Cute, somewhat quirky, and convenient to the Main Street of El Calafate with shopping and eating within a couple of blocks.
The gentleman at the front desk was particularly helpful, the woman less so. Both were friendly though.

MadreTierra is a very nice small boutique hotel, located conveniently close to many restaurants and stores in the centro (downtown) of El Calafate. We had an issue at checkin because we booked rooms that can each accommodate two adults and one child (as we had done at all other hotels for our trip, with absolutely no issues) but it turns out that only kids up to 2 years old are allowed to share a room with their parents. Our kids were old enough to sleep in a separate room and, thankfully, the hotel had one extra room available for the first night of our stay, but then we had to figure out how to split our family group between MadreTierra and a different hotel. This situation made things a little uncomfortable, so I would only recommend this place for couples (who don’t mind a very small room), not for families with kids.
Other than the small size of the room, this is a very nice place. The staff and manager are very attentive and friendly, and the overall experience is very pleasant thanks to them!

Such a little gem of a property in El Calafate with welcoming hosts. Location was perfect and right off the main street of Avenida Del Libertador.
The hotel has a family feeling to it and the breakfast in the mornings was great. If it's an option, I suggest paying the extra money for it.
I will definitely be visiting this property again.
Thank You!

Great boutique Hotel. It was charming, and the staff was lovely. Except that it didn’t have air-conditioning. Still give it a 5/5. Breakfast was great.

We loved our stay at Madre Tierra! Mariano, the owner is a hands on owner! Not only will he and his staff ensure you feel right at home and safe, he is also super knowledgeable about Calafate, and offers services to take you trekking, to the glaciers and many more adventures! Make sure to ask to reach out ahead of your stay to ask about these guided adventures.
The hotel itself is also amazing! Very clean, spacious and the rooms are very comfortable. Make sure to book your stay with breakfast included, you won’t regret it!
When we go back to Calafate we will make sure to stay at Madre Tierra.

We love this cozy place!!! We enjoyed the room, shower, breakfast and the great company of the staff. A little heaven in the southern tip of the world.

Friendly front staff. Must either pay in cash or pre-purchase through Expedia or alternative website. Shower vacillated from extremely hot to extremely cold. Did not have hot coffee available at 7 am as we were leaving for our excursion. Pillows were so hard that I used my camping pillow instead of theirs.

I had a very comfortable stay at this inn, which was small, cozy, and comforting. The staff, particularly Matthias (spelling?) were very approachable and friendly. He listened to me babble nonsense after our two hour drive there from El Chalten by answering all my questions/demands in English, informed us that he was putting finishing touches on our room before we officially settled in (this was critical based on previous reviews), and prepared the free coffee/tea in the lobby for guests; he had a great attitude even after I spilled some on the tablerunner. Mariano, the GM, who we did not meet until breakfast the next day, unfortunately, which was excellent as other reviews say, will greet you if you arrive in the morning. We met another couple during our stay in the common area, who we dined with, which added to the intimacy of the place.
The Argentinian hospitality at this inn will make you feel welcome to Patagonia whether it’s your first or last night there, and encourage you to leave your heart in this surreal place at the end of the world!

Clean, comfortable, quiet hotel with friendly staff that provided a good breakfast and is within easy walking of downtown. My only complaint is minor: no way to refuse my room being entered, which was done more than once per day - my things were moved and my reusable water bottles thrown out. Need to add a sign to hand on the door to indicate not to disturb or clean. Otherwise, very sweet with nice touches. Busses had easy access to pick me up. There is an excellent cafeteria right across the street that also has sandwiches perfect for all day excursions.

Really was a lovely place to stay. It was small and quaint and very convenient to the center of town and all the restaurants. Theres a delicious bakery right across the street. The owner helps with all transportation, tours, and guides. Everyone was so nice.

This is a small eco-boutique hotel located just one block from the center of town. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The hotel serves breakfast but not lunch or dinner. This is not an issue since you are very close to Libertadores Av where you find great restaurants and shopping. There is also a great bakery across the hotel where you can get lunch for your hikes.
The GM, Mariano, is also a mounting guide and gave us great tips on El Chalten and Perito Moreno.

Mariano, the owner, provided the most related, attentive, and helpful service and suggestions possible. He arranged transport for tours and made changes when we needed them. His staff is the best. It is a small, beautifully appointed hotel within easy walking distance to city center, but located on a quiet street. Choosing Madretierra is among the best choices we made for our trip.

I usually don’t comment anything but this hotel is highly recommended. 5 stars ⭐️. Its clean, well located, friendly. They treat you like one of their family members. Mariano and Natacha are super nice. They even help you to book reservations for restaurants, took us to the airport, and gave us a tour around El Calafate. Also, i have some issues with WesternUnion and they were really into help me out. Therefore, if you are planning to book a hotel in El calafate don’t think twice and stay at Madre Tierra Patagonia .
