Very nice Inn/Lodge in a beautiful location by the Russian river. 1-2 min walk to the river.Easy to get to places like Jenner , Occidental , Wine country etc.

Service was wonderful, nice breakfast
Room is tiny. Way too small for 2 people with more than 1 suitcase. Only one tiny sink with no edge to put anything on.

Stayed for one weekend. Good location. Nice being right on the water. Easy parking and check in. Very casual place. OLD bones - creaky floors and not very sound proof. But the owners were very nice and having the restaurant there was helpful. Unfortunately, the 3rd floor "suite" had a fly issue. Some cracks in the door frame allow them in and each day, they came in by the dozens. As long as you are OK with fly killing duty - its fine... but I would have preferred NOT to deal with that.

The hotel was right on the River. The restaurant was great . The owners were super nice, but not the type of owners that get to know their customers. They just say hi and bye and here’s your key. Just mentioning this because we are the type of travelers that like to get to know people a little, so we thought that was strange. Still loved the place. They do have balconies on the river, but we weren’t offered this option, so we were able to sit on the lawn behind the hotel and enjoy the river for a little while. The breakfast was great. Super clean. There are no heaters/ac in the individual rooms, they just have a main thermostat in the hallway set at 66 degrees. Super cute and super safe hotel.

Not recommending this property! The room was small, the bed was hard and very uncomfortable so were the pillows, they were too soft and didn’t offer neck support. The sheets and pillowcases smelled strongly like bleach , it was suffocating. I didn’t get much sleep. The room didn’t have a refrigerator nor microwave, nor pressing iron. The air didn’t work and it got warm during the night.
I left early since I could bear being there for another night.

Property was cute, right on the river. Good quiet place right on the river. There is a restaurant/bar on site, however it was closed on Wednesday and Thursday when we were there.

The hotel.was vey clean and in a quiet area. The balcony was overseeing the river. The restaurant was closed that night but the receptionist recommended a restaurant a couple hundred yards away, which was.also very nice.

It was nice having the balcony looking out at the river. Nice having the bar and restaurant. The hours were very limited but still nice. Very friendly staff. The "breakfast" was ok, we thought there would be better selection. Was easy to walk around Monte Rio area, which we really like. The Lodge has lots of character and we enjoyed our stay.

The property is charming but dated. Room was clean but not in good shape. There is a big stain above our bed with prior leek or collapse sealing. When we walked in we smell chemicals that probably were use to clean the room. The front desk gave us a fan to air it out, but never offered to change the room. Smell subsided but never went away. For B&B breakfast was mediocre, small continental breakfast like in motel. Location is great, right on the bank of Russian river, but to get to it is a challenge.

Bed was comfy & clean. No air conditioning no closet but that wasn’t a big deal. There was a nice variety of breakfast items in the morning along with coffee and tea. Very reasonably price I was quite satisfied and would definitely come back again

This place was the cutest little bed and breakfast around the scenic Drive to get there through the redwoods was my favorite. Once we got there, we didn’t have to leave the restaurant that is there is amazing and the breakfast in the morning was perfect! Would highly recommend this property to any traveler.

This is an amazing venue with a serene, quiet dock and great river view. Everything was wonderful!!

We had a wonderful couple of days staying on the Russian River. The location of the B&B is perfect and absolutely stunning.
We enjoyed swimming directly off the small dock and watching the sunset.
However, a few things in the B&B let our stay down.
I had read lots of reviews that said it was clean. In our room there was so much dust on the bed frames, skirting boards and picture frames, it looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a long time. Behind and under the furniture was even worse.
The shower curtain in the bathroom was mouldy and we had issues with the shower. We did speak to a member of staff who said that several guests had complained about it and that someone would look at it when we were out for the day. On our return, I spoke to the owner and she said she knew nothing about it and would send someone up to look at it. He did arrive promptly but seemed dismissive of the problem and that ‘was the way showers are in California’ (it felt like we were being jet washed when using it). Our shower in the hotel in San Francisco was fine. He did look at it and helped us to get a better pressure, but did concede that there was a problem with it.
I have read the reviews about lack of kettle, fridge, foldable seats in the room and reluctance to provide ice and glasses, which they did give us (two wine glasses but I couldn’t negotiate glass water glasses so ended up with plastic cups!).
Finally, we had expected a warm and friendly welcome which wasn’t very forthcoming.

We were pleasantly surprised how nice and spacious our room was. We had a great view of the river and the furnishings were comfortable. Our host Ingrid was delightful and very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed the German cuisine offered in the restaurant on site. We definitely will return.

Quaint inn, great dinner food. Employees are informative and friendly.
Rooms are comfortable. Pillows too soft for me but still slept extremely well.
Small town, great feel. We plan on returning

Great room. Hotel very charming. No pretend. Great staff. Good food too. Modest breakfast service.

We reserved this hotel based on reviews. I have no idea who or where those reviews came from. The staff was not friendly, the room was very small - queen sized bed with a small nightstand on each side. Bathroom contained a toilet and a shower with black stuff around the tile, and the sink was in the room, not in the bathroom. The walls were thin - we could hear the conversations happening outside our walls and the people walking on the floor above. The AC is managed in the hallway, so when the shower ran, the room heated up and we had no way to cool it off, so we had to open our door. I do not recommend staying here.

This was a cute little property right on the river. We enjoyed our stay and the staff was wonderful. The building is very old but clean. The only complaint was that it was loud, for instance when someone was showering in another room near us the pipes/water was super loud and the cars going by were loud (we were on the street side). The bar and restaurant were great!

The location was lovely. The room was smaller than my spare bedroom with no closet or storage for your suitcase which would have been fine if there was more than 2’ft space on either side of the bed and about 4 ft from the foot of the bed to the door. You are given two keys, one for your room and one for the exterior doors and the patrons are responsible to lock those doors. Which again would be fine if everyone did that. Each time we left and returned the exterior doors (front door, door to go to the river, etc.) were left unlocked. When we came back from dinner after 10, the front door was open. Oh and, the Inns bar and restaurant were closed while we were there. I wish someone would have shared that beforehand. The exterior is filthy. The chairs out back and your room patio chairs are
Covered with bird poo and spiders. We had to clean them before sitting. Luckily, the breakfast had good stuff and the coffee was good.

Very quaint, simple accommodations - super small rooms and thin walls

The property has a great view of Russian river. But no direct access to the river. The rooms are smallish, and it does not feel comfortable. The front desk staff were not polite.

The Highland Dell was an enjoyable stay for us. Our room, 102, was interesting. There was no thermometer setting available but I assume it was because it was certified as Green and all rooms were monitored as a whole. Room was relatively small but very clean. No closet, bathroom consisted of a toilet and shower. Sink, mirror, hairdryer were in bedroom area. Walking from the bed to the bathroom was literally down hill. Floor not level but not an insurmountable problem, just interesting. Dinner was very good on their Friday special of prime rib.

We loved our stay at this well appointed cozy beautiful hotel! The food was great (I had awesome schnitzel) the room was very pretty, and the service was excellent. I’m fairly picky and was delighted to be impressed!!! We also thoroughly enjoyed the location. It was just a stairway down to the river and we could walk to the redwood forest for hiking. Definitely will stay there again!!

The Highland Dell was a very well-kept and pristine property in a beautiful setting in the redwoods along the Russian River. The dining area and menu were excellent. The management and staff were all friendly and accommodating. I will recommend the Highland Dell to all my family and friends.

It was okay for a one night stay

The worst thing about the place is that on the website they do not inform that the Hotel is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I found the key in the main door and I see that there is no type of restaurant service or any other type of food.

The room was very tight, the bed was too firm for me, but they have great pillows! It was clean and the continental breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from. The lodge is old architecture which we enjoy and being on the river is very relaxing. Love that its close to the coast, which is wht we chose it and reasonable as well! Oh, plenty of hot water for showering!

Hotel was very comfortable, very clean and hosts were welcoming. Check-in was easy since we arrived during the specified time window. Our special request was honored. We only have one improvement suggestion. The hotel detail indicated "Breakfast Included." It did not say continental breakfast, but that is all that was available. That was a disappointment. No hot food available other than instant oatmeal packs, but a lot of bread and roll choices, yogurt and hard boiled eggs.

Very capably run, very clean mom and pop operation.
