Room extremely warm when entered. Thermostat not working. Hotel replaced batteries but still didn’t work. Had to control temp from the unit itself. Blower would not turn off

I liked the hotel, but I did not like that I was charged $28 when I left for amenities that I am not aware of. I should’ve been told that at check in.

What a great find For traveling with our Dogs! We would stay here, even if we didn’t have them with us. Cute decor, great location, comfortable, and clean!

I recently stayed at the Wayfinder Newport with a large group, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations or justify the high cost. While it’s clear they’ve done some renovations, the property still has the feel of an old, worn-down motel, and the updates seem only partial. Our group was split between rooms, with some in renovated spaces and others in outdated, musty rooms with old, dirty carpets.
The rooms lack basic amenities like drawers or closets – a setup that might work for a quick stay, but for longer visits, the “Moxy-style” approach of keeping everything in your suitcase just doesn’t cut it. WiFi didn’t work any of the nights, and our AC broke down, which made it uncomfortable, especially since there was no phone in the room to call for assistance. We had to use our cell phones to contact the front desk, which, in fairness, was helpful, but it still added to the frustration.
Overall, this property feels overpriced for what it offers, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s simply not worth it, especially if you’re planning an extended stay.

Firstly, my travel partner was sick with COVID and could not make it. I found this out early Sunday morning with only a few hours before check in. Although I knew it was a long shot I did call your hotel to see if it was possible to cancel or reschedule the reservation. I was told it was too late to do so; therefore, I decided to come on my own. Upon arrival at 4pm sharp I was told my room would not be ready for a while and asked if I could come back later. I found this a little irritating since only a few hours earlier I was told it was too late to cancel, but I should just be ok with having to check into my room late? I came back around 6pm and was able to check in. Secondly, upon arriving at my room I started to relax and turn on the television. However, every channel was snowy and the sound was altered. I went through each channel and found that it was all of them. I was only staying overnight so I did not bring a laptop or computer so I was stuck without television for the remainder of the night. I called the front desk and was told it was every TV, not just my room otherwise I would have asked to change rooms. Lastly, and the bulk of my problem was what was in the fridge. I opened the refrigerator to put in my water and there was a plastic bag with 2 filled syringes. Both needles were filled with liquid and unlabeled. I had assumed someone left their medication behind, but for the staff not to find it while cleaning the room is unacceptable.

Really nice room with a really comfy bed, and the staff were very friendly helpful.
My problem is the how loud the rooms are - dont expect to get much sleep which is sad because the beds are so comfy.
Our room was on the ground floor, the person in the room above above us was walking about constantly (no exaggeration it sounded like an elephant was up there) until midnight and then started doing it again at 5 am - this may seem like a silly thing to complain about but it was so loud that we couldnt sleep.

I was a regular at The Wayfinder prior to their fire years ago, totally upset when they weren’t open this is my first time back and it’s better than ever. I’m actually booking for next May to be there as well. It is definitely my go to when I go to Newport. It’s convenient to Newport off the bridge it’s right there is excellent front desk. I’ve never had a problem. We highly recommend this hotel to anybody traveling to Newport.

My family and I had an incredible experience at the Wayfinder Newport! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The check-in process was seamless, and I was offered a a free room upgrade for my parents which was great! My parents absolutely loved the room as it was the exact type of accessible room that they were looking for.
The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated with modern yet cozy touches. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and my family and I appreciated the complimentary bottled water. My parents absolutely loved, loved, loved the waterfront views!!
The service throughout our stay was top-notch. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and always eager to help.
The hotel is located in a prime area, just a short drive to and from the Navy base, beach and local attractions. It was easy to explore the nearby shops and restaurants, and I felt like I was right in the heart of everything.

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel especially after reading some negative reviews about the rooms. Our room was newly renovated, a new rug in the hallway, laminate flooring in our room, and an updated bathroom, along with bedding and furniture. It was also very clean. The hallways are dimly lit as mentioned in other reviews and it was a bit of a maze to get to our room. But overall we were very pleased with our stay and especially appreciated the complimentary cocktail! The staff was also very friendly.

There was a rat running in the pool area and the carpets in the halls were heavily stained.

The front desk staff were the stars of our stay. Very nice, professional and responsive. They made us feel welcomed!
The room on the other hand was a disaster, as soon as we walked into the room I was slapped in the face by an overwhelming bbq smell. There was a huge stain on the carpet that looked brand new. There were many stains on the carpet which always makes you feel uneasy. The toilet had black rings on it and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite sometime. There was hair everywhere!
I went to the nearby supermarket and purchased some cleaning supplies to clean the bathroom and disinfect the room as much as I could. I was staying with my 1 and 10 year old.
We asked for help with the BBQ smell it was just overpowering, the cleaning crew came and tried to convince me that it was actually nice our room smelled like BBQ sauce and then said he needed a couple of mins. Whatever chemical they sprayed in the room made it worst, the room smelled like Bbq sauce and chemicals now it was nauseating. The entire three days we dealt with the gross smell, because they didn’t have any available rooms. It’s evident the cleaning staff need to dedicated more time to their work.

Not enough hangers and drawers for my clothes. Lavatory drain was clogged, staff came out and fixed it but it took him more than 30 minutes to finish. Always provided towels and coffee cartridges and cups only for 2 even though the room was reserved for 3 adults with 2 queen beds.

The floor was dirty and needed to be swept and mopped.
The refrigerator didnt work. All night and morning I could hear doors slamming and I didnt get any sleep. They need sound proof their hallways and doors. The light switch didnt work either. I did not enjoy my stay.

Had trouble with front desk staff not being able to completely help us with things.

Housekeeping never came despite having to go down daily and request it continually and keep getting my own towels after paying nearly 400$ per night. Hot water takes 10 minutes to get to the shower and sink in room. Strong water damage smell on first floor and stains on hallway carpets. This place has a lot of work to do still.

The Manager refused to honor the Welcome Drink we were promised at time of booking and kept telling us to come back to see if maybe they could help. We tried twice, but it was a complete mess at the front desk. Our room was filthy, and I picked up a piece of glass on the carpet, along with several pieces of someone else's hair. I would never stay here again! This place is falling apart, and there were stains all over our carpet and our friends' room's carpet as well.

The aesthetic of this hotel is cute but it’s not well maintained.
the management said the hotel was under construction but all the issues we experienced we due to the property being neglected or in disrepair. Our bathroom sink handles fell off when we twisted them, the blind was broken, our phone didn’t work, the remote control turned on both TVs (??), the EV charging was not working and if you look at reviews it hasn’t been working since 2023.
The HVAC unit in the room was super noisy, even when we turned it off there were loud sounds and air.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the only saving grace of the stay.
Very disappointing experience.

Room was very comfy, good beds, clean restroom, nice and helpful personel, etc.
But would suggest to clean or change hallway's carpet and increase lighting, this will definit boost hotel reviews

There are distinctly different areas of the hotel - we stayed in the main building in a 2br suite which was brand new and modern, and friends were booked in the older “motel” section and quickly changed rooms when they arrived. The pool was a hike from the main building but beautiful (and super cold), and plenty of chairs and umbrellas for the number of mid-week guests. The restaurant had just reopened and we didn’t try it, but the lobby cafe had coffee, and salads from the pool bar were ok. Beware of the $25/day facility fee - not sure why that’s in place given the price of the rooms. We didn’t take advantage of the free bikes but they seem new, and the only nice machine we found was near the main lobby. Overall we would consider it again if priced well below in town options (which it was). Not much around the hotel, but only 25-30 min walk to the downtown area at a fast clip.

I was disappointed with my stay. It seems like the hotel did a quick renovation just to make it Instagram-worthy, but it didn’t live up to the hype. The bar only served canned cocktails, and the pizza tasted like it was microwaved. The pool had broken tiles—definitely not something you want to look at closely. Some items in the room even still had price tags on them! Overall, it didn’t feel like a good value and came off as a bit cheesy.

The Wayfinder is a cute boutique hotel, and the price per night to stay there was unbeatable. However, there were quite a few inconveniences that dampened our experience there... When requested to reserve a room that was away from high-traffic areas that could produce noise, we were instead put in the far end of the hotel down a poorly lit hallway that was right next to the part of the property that was under construction, so we were hearing noise from that which defeated the purpose of our request to be in a more quiet area. Also, there were dirty dishes along the wall directly across our room when we arrived. We were there for a few days, and every day, those same dirty dishes were never picked up. Lastly, we were double-charged for our stay. We paid in advance but were accidentally charged again when checked in. Most of the money set aside for this trip was no longer available until everything was sorted out between the bank and the property, and since it was a weekend stay, funds were not returned until we were back home. Regardless of the multiple inconveniences, we would definitely stay again to support The Wayfinder, but it will have to be after it's fully renovated and the staff better trained, which we hope will be very soon.

Staff is amazing but this place is awful. I would rather drive home on r sad l k erp in my car. Forget the construction not v sure v where v the renovation was being done but this b place needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up.

Loved my stay at The Wayfinder!!! The room was super clean and well decorated. The location of the hotel is a 7 min drive to downtown Newport. I enjoyed the amenities like the pool and gym. The customer service was also great from the front desk staff to the housekeepers. The only things that were missing from our room was a microwave and iron, but you can ask the front desk if you need one. Also side note- the sheets, they’re not cooling and not great for hot sleepers.
