This hotel really needs to start offering laundry service, heat the pools, and have a dinner and room service option for guests.
That would make the experience much better.
Neighborhood is loud so maybe some white noise options in the room would make the experience more pleasant as well

Not only was the property lovely, the food was delicious and the staff were above and beyond kind and helpful. While I was there, I needed medical attention. The staff worked as translators with the hospital, set up taxi rides, and checked in on me frequently. So generous. The pool area is clean and calming. My hammock on the porch, alluring. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot. No complaints at all. Casa Hormiga is quiet and peaceful. It is only a few blocks to the lake or the plaza... very convenient. I'd stay there again any day.

This was a spectacular surprise. They have created a natural and very tasteful sanctuary with their hotel that is very special.
We tried the temazcal ceremony and it was an amazing experience lead by Ronny.
Special mentions go to Rubén and Rodrigo on the front desk for their professionalism and understanding of what great service really means.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Casa Hormiga. The pristine grounds, excellent service, and unique activities like the "House Ritual" with the Cacao Ceremony and massage made it a standout destination. The rooms were spacious, room service was good and the location very walkable. Special shout-out to Ruben, who was hilarious and extremely welcoming. I’ll be back one day!

Casa Hormiga was a beautiful place to stay. It blended well with the zen feeling of Bacalar. The style and overall feel was very peaceful. I loved the morning yoga sessions. The staff was super helpful and made you feel very comfortable. Thank you Casa Hormiga for a beautiful vacation!

I loved my stay at Casa Hormiga. Everything was excellent, including the fantastic cocktails from the bar, the delicious food with lots of vegetarian options, the quiet pools and the comfortable room. We were there during a slow month so the hotel wasn't full, which meant we had the pool all to ourselves and it never felt busy at breakfast either. The city is walkable from here but it's not right in the middle of the noisy areas either.

Casa Hormiga is a great place to stay on your next visit to Bacalar. The property grounds are beautiful and have a relaxing vibe. Staff is attentive and the rooms are some of the nicest places I’ve stayed at in Mexico. Plus you are in walkable distance to the lagoon and downtown area. Totally recommend and will sure return here!

Beautiful place with lots of green. Good restaurant and very nice staff. Unfortunately, we had a constant sewer smell in our room that was rather unpleasant. We could not get another room as it was fully booked. They were going to look into it and i am positive that they will be able to solve the issue.

We travel over 100 nights a year and stay in hotels all over the world. I never leave negative reviews but this hotel was super disappointing. The hotel is beautifully designed and super photogenic but not designed for humans. For example the bathroom sink is super high (and we’re tall), the bed is super short, the shower has no ventilation which made the room steam every time, and the room is poorly lit.
The staff are just not professional and definitely not hospitality oriented, there’s no other way to put it. We arrived slightly earlier than checkin after a long flight and the first thing they said was you’re too early. The room not being ready is fine but welcoming they aren’t. The checkin process was like a long list of rules - felt like being in school and that’s followed again at breakfast where the waitress explains the rules. Ah and there’s no coffee machine at breakfast until 12pm - after breakfast finished.
We debated between here and Habitas - and having stopped at Habitas for a meal I can say that we made the wrong choice and Habitas is really an amazing property.

We had a great stay. The staff, public areas, food pool etc amazing. It’s a beautiful property our only issue was the bed honestly. There are only queen size beds (we knew but hoped for comfort), but honesty the beds were not the most comfortable. The lobby, pool area and dinning are beautiful. We just felt like the rooms were nice but fell short. The sink in the bathroom is a odd height a lot higher than most. The rooms are a great size more than enough room for a king size bed. Overall we loved the location and our stay.

From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel welcome and well attended to. The property is absolutely beautiful. It feels like a hidden lush oasis once you enter off the street. I was impressed with the quality and caliber of materials used throughout the hotel including the furniture pieces and decor.

Beautiful, tranquil, with very friendly staff. Only complaint was that my room or towels never got cleaned and I came back from being out once to having my room door (that had been locked) left open. No cleaning was done. Still not sure what that was about. Maybe cleaning person was interrupted. Everything was intact.
