Nestled in the heart of Bar Harbor, Maine, Bass Cottage Inn offers a quintessential New England experience that balances cozy charm with luxury. This beautifully restored 19th-century inn is located conveniently close to the town’s bustling shops, restaurants, and waterfront, making it ideal for those who want to explore the best of Bar Harbor. Yet, it remains tucked away enough to provide a peaceful retreat.
The breakfast at Bass Cottage Inn is truly a highlight, showcasing a delicious selection of homemade options that start your day off right. The frittata, in particular, stands out. Made with fresh, local ingredients, it’s cooked to perfection, with a blend of savory flavors that elevate a simple breakfast to an indulgent experience. Whether you’re a fan of eggs or not, the frittata is a must-try and pairs beautifully with their freshly brewed coffee.
Inside, the inn features several inviting sitting rooms that are a treat to explore. These spaces are meticulously decorated with tasteful antiques, plush furniture, and art that echo the historic charm of the property. Each room offers a unique ambiance—from cozy nooks by the fireplace to airy spaces with ample natural light. These sitting rooms invite you to unwind, read a book, or simply savor a quiet moment, making them perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure.
Another major advantage of staying at Bass Cottage is its proximity to Acadia National Park. The inn’s location al

A beautiful Inn that is well
Maintained with a lot of original stained glass. The room was perfect and the breakfasts were delicious. The location was a very short walk to downtown. Thank you Walker for you friendly assist.

Absolutely amazing. 10/10. We stayed in the Lilac room - the one with the raised ceiling on the third floor in the Ullikana house. The house was stunning. It felt like a step back in time in an English garden with the beautiful Tudor-style home. Our room was huge with lots of seating. The bathroom and shower were great. The bathroom mirror was perfect for someone maybe 5’8” … I was too short and my husband was too tall … but no points are being deducted because they had a handheld mirror in the bathroom and two other mirrors in the bedroom. The king bed was very comfortable. It was wonderfully peaceful and quiet. As we checked in, they were serving afternoon tea with a variety of homemade sweet treats in both houses. The breakfast was fantastic - a sweet option (bananas foster waffle) and a savory one (sausage and sweet pepper frittata) both served with hash browns and fresh fruit. While waiting for breakfast, they brought us each a piece of crumb cake. There are plenty of common seating areas in both homes with books and games available, plus backyard seating looking out over the water. I wish we stayed more than one night! If we are in the area again, there is no question that we would stay here again.

This property was okay. The location is great, parking is easy, and there's a lovely view of the water (with adirondak chairs) in the back yard. Very peaceful place to read or relax. We felt our room (Daisy, #4) was musty with old carpet and quite small. Plus the property was not transparent that the shower was literally in the room itself, not the bathroom - it's a converted closet. For the price, this should have been disclosed. Also, the fire alarm went off 3x one night - and the staff didn't give me confidence they were going to fix the problem. We had a fine stay and enjoyed BH but wouldn't stay at this property again.

Great location. Historic ambiance with three sitting rooms. Staff was great! Parking was easy. Breakfast was terrific. For those who like tea time, at 3:00 pm tea/coffee is served along with cake and cookies.

There was a continuous noise in the room all night and I could not sleep. I could not understand where it was coming from. It was like every hour. It might be water pump or something else. It was waking me up every hour or so. A loud mechanic noise. Like a mechine or drill working. Very disturbing.

Absolute perfect location to all shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor as well as the harbor area for all boat tours. Reserved parking place at lodging. Staff was great, breakfast and snacks wonderful. Highly recommend!

This property was a fabulous location and the staff is amazing! It is so convenient and the breakfast was wonderful. Chef Trevado does a great job with not only taste, but presentation as well. You felt right at home…but way better!!

The property was conveniently located within walking distance to town and the waterfront. Even though it was so close to town it was still peaceful and quiet. There are two inns, we stayed at the Ullikana; a very nicely restored older home. The service was great and all staff were very gracious and friendly. Breakfast is offered every morning and was delicious. Each room is unique and clean. Bed was extremely comfortable which is something I appreciate. A few cons: no refrigerator or microwave in rooms. There is a small wine cooler type refrigerator in the lobby area however a small microwave would be convenient there for quick warmups. A small workout area would also be nice. Overall, a very pleasent experience.

Both places were easy to get to, check in was simple and enjoyable. Walker, who is responsible, was pleasant, welcoming and knowledgeable about the houses, the surroundings and the different places we wanted to visit. The house are beautiful with a lot of character and feels very welcoming. Our room was lovely, cozy and peaceful.
We were between two rooms and never heard our neighbours on either side. We arrived in time for “Tea-time” and was delighted by the yummy desserts that were served. Our 1st night was peaceful and quiet and considering the drive we did from Montreal to Bar Harbour, we needed that rest. Breakfast was very much anticipated and we were delighted to the tasty menu presented prior to our selection we were given a delicious portion of cinnamon muffin which was so delicious. The meals were well thought out and the portions enough to carry you to lunch. We were served by a lovely outgoing young woman named, Echo, she is our sunshine! She and Walker were very attentive to all our needs and provided great hospitality. We look for to returning next year!

Bass Cottage Inn -
WOW!!!! 10 stars, 100 stars, 1000 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
This place is beautiful, comfortable and so perfectly located to all the great shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. However, above and beyond all of those great reasons alone to stay at Bass Cottage Inn, THE STAFF ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amazing, kind, thoughtful and their attention to detail is second to none. Every morning in the beautiful sunny dining room, you can sit down to a complimentary gourmet breakfast created by Chef Steven. We ate the breakfast 3 mornings and every one was so delicious. The Inn Keeper Jill and her assistant Walker were so wonderful to work with us on some last minute adjustments which made our stay even more enjoyable. All the staff we encountered were so nice and wanted only to meet our needs. This is a one of a kind amazing place to vacation or stay for just a few days. You won’t regret it.

I stayed in this hotel for one night during a weekend trip to Bar Harbor. I visit the area somewhat frequently to hike in Acadia and often stay one or two nights. This hotel is very close to the main part of downtown and is cute. The condition of the room was great.
I personally don’t want the B&B feel and just want a comfortable bed with no harassment for a lower cost. I think there are better options in the area for this like the Main Street Hotel or the Bar Harbor Grand.

My partner and I booked this place kinda last minute but lucky it's still before the masses of other tourists arriving later this month. And I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded for no extra cost to a bigger room since there weren't many people staying at the inn. (To the "Cinnamon room" #1)
And wow! It was a gorgeous room if you're a history buff like me. A massive painting of an elegant library over our own personal (operational propane) fireplace, huge king bed, and big bathroom. Also a modern very quiet AC/Heater to keep you comfortable too.
Our Hostess was Jill, an excellent and extremely kind host who may even join you for some games in the lobby if its slow. (I heard she's a pro at Rummikub too)
And the included breakfast was delicious. Its a rolling selection of 2 choices every morning, and their chef definitely knows what he's doing in the kitchen.
Overall we felt like we were living the rich life in the 1800's kinda vibe.
10/10 rating from me.

Location is ideal. Within walking distance to most parts of Bar Harbor and good driving proximity to most of the popular trails in Acadia.
Daily breakfast was amazing, and frankly, better than what other restaurants in the area had to offer!

Amazing place. Very nice old house well located. The service and amability was excellent. The included breakfast was better than many restaurant breakfast with many choices. I highly recommand this place, it was just fantastic

Bass Cottage Inn is a wonderful home away from home while you explore Bar Harbor and Acadia. If you want a good night's sleep, an amazing breakfast and knowledgeable staff that make you feel at home, this is the place for you. I stayed here for 3 nights recently while hiking Acadia and exploring the Maine coast. The location was perfect as you can walk pretty much anywhere in Bar Harbor. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and the inn was such a comfortable place to return to after a long day. The staff, especially Jill and Rya (sp?) had great, off the beaten path, recommendations for me to check out. I can't wait to return in the near future!

There was a small inconvenience during check-in that involved moving baggage from our room, but otherwise a very pleasant experience. The room was great, location convenient, and staff pleasant.

Amazing time! Very close to everything you would want to walk to, the nutmeg room was very cozy and felt more secluded. All the people working were lovely, especially Jill, Rebecca, and Riah. It felt like staying with friends! Breakfast was great and the common spaces were very clean and cozy.

Beautiful inn close to the water and all the shops. Our room was spacious and faced the harbor. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely return

Everything was incredible! One of those "you have to experience for yourself" type places as the reviews are all great but you don't truly know until you are there. The breakfasts and the social hour wine/cheese was our favorites! Jill and Suzy were amazing and so nice/helpful/informative on all of our questions.

I would highly recommend Bass Cottage and Ullikana. It is a very quaint B&B style small hotel in a superb location. The back lawn has a beautiful view of the harbor which is only two blocks away. And the hotel is also only 2 blocks away from Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are located. Finally, the staff, led by manager Jill, were extremely kind, attentive, and helpful. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - you will love it!
