It is nice way to travel to book at a casa. The host is super helpful and can give many information.
For other tourists: contact the host before u go to cuba! He will give you good tips.
It was our first days in cuba. And cuba is very special for money, internet and electricity.
Money wise take some euros or dollars enough.
The casa is a very nice building. The room a bit small but it is good enough.
Host is fantastic and helpful.
We did two casa in la havana. This one is a bit further from the center so it takes some time to walk to the old town. But the area has also a lot to offer and it is way much calmer (people talking to tourist all the time in the old town).
Tips : good vegetarian restaurant in the area and one bar for cocktails around the corner with some show.
We had a great stay!

Alex is a wonderful host and helped us with information around the city and also taxis.

It was a pleasure getting to Alex's casa. First of all, once we booked the room he immediately contacted us to make sure we understand how and when to arrive. Alex was kind and helpful, guiding us how to best manage ourselves, as we didn't plan properly and didn't have cash with us, he also helped us acquire the necessary amount in Cuban Pesos so we can enjoy our stay. Furthermore, we asked to leave our luggage and Alex was happy to assist and even offer to leave us the room if no one will book it.
Beside the pleasure of having such a wonderful host, the house itself is magnificently beautiful - an old colonial house in the beautiful and lively Vedado, a few steps from the John Lennon park and the Submarino Amerillo pub. It's within a walking distance from Plaza la Revulucion, many restaurants and La Rampa.
If you're going to Havana, do yourselves a favor and stay at Alex's in Villa Carmita. It's the best option!

The host Alexander is so very kind, thoughtful, helpful. The ensuite bedroom was lovely, spacious.
It's a trek to get into town but ok if you like walking.

The sweetest family and most beautiful house to stay in, if you’re going to Cuba!
Would highly recommend you to stay there if you visit Havana! Couldn’t have been a better experience

The owner offered to change USD to Peso, saying he was an honest man and there were lots of dodgy people on the street changing counterfit peso. He said the bank rate was 110 and he would give us 200. He told us to always come to Alex to change money. Later we foind the shop next door was exchanging for 250 and this was the rate used everwhere. He ripped us off.

Alex is a very friendly and helpful host who will do everything he can to help you. And you will need his help 😊

I enjoyed my stay at Villa Carmita. The owners went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed and to answer questions I had about restaurants, transportation and local attractions.

It was my first night in Cuba, after a long trip. I felt really secure and comfortable, the room was clean, with air-conditioning, very important. I had a good night sleep. Alex was very welcoming and helpful with everything, he helped me with money exchange and getting a taxi to my next destination.
I highly recommend Villa Carmita for a stay in la Habana.

This is my second visit to Habana and I am totally satisfied this casa during my 9 days staying. The casa has a clean large room with air conditioning, beautiful lounge and confortable terrace. The owner Alex is a very very nice person and he makes a good breakfast with cuban fresh fruits every morning. The area around this casa is for real Habana homies. You could spend the real Hbana life in here. For example, I had been visiting the Bohemian style cafe, the art gallary style bar, the reggeton club for homies and etc.. The owner Alex will make your any travel wish come true. I am strongly recommend this casa for all who love Habana!!!

In general it was good for one night, room is clean, staff is helpful. It was noisy during the night, I had to sleep in ear plugs

Villa Carmita is wonderfully situated within walking distances of major avenues and boulevards where there is so much to see and do in El Vedado. Alex and his family are warm, welcoming and were very attentive to my needs. The room and the common areas are kept spotlessly clean at all times and my room was cleaned daily. Bathroom facilities were excellent with sufficient hot water. The only downside is the weak and, too often, unavailable wifi connection that was a constant source of stress.
Many thanks to Alex and his family for their warm hospitality during my stay.

The casa is clean and well-maintained. Alex, the owner, is very helpful and makes sure we have what we need. Room has aircon, fan and hot shower. Wifi, water and laundry services are available at a fee. It’s better to change Cuban pesos with Alex, compared to outside, as he gives good exchange rates and is more legit. Neighbourhood feels safe to walk around even at night. A few eateries in the vicinity, and even more if you go 5-10mins by taxi. Highly recommended to stay here!

It is a nice colonial house with big clean rooms. Rooms are specious with AC and en-suit bathroom. The Bed was big comfortable with very clean sheets. Alex the owner is a very friendly person helps with everything you need. The area is very safe and walk-able with many cafe and restaurant options. It is also close to popular art/entertainment place called Fabrica de Arte Cubano.

Our best Casa during 4 weeks traveling in Cuba. The owner Alex and his family are incredible helpful and give support in all belongings you need for planing a unforgetable trip. The house and rooms are in excellent condition, the breakfast delicious and the location in a quiet and safe destrict.
We found new friends and hope to come back soon.

I stayed for one night and it was awesome every single aspect: how comfortable the bed was and clean everything! Also the breakfast was beyond my expectations at a great price. Now I know a fantastic place to stay in Havana! Muchas gracias!

This place was very conveniently located, close to a mercadito, food places and our bike tour. Mr. Alex was very friendly and accommodating. room was clean.

Ale was a fantastic host. He was super helpful even before we arrived, over WhatsApp. The house is beautiful and in great condition. It is in a great location in Vedado, right near the Parque John Lennon. The area has a lot of beautiful colonial architecture but not many are in the good condition of Villa Carmita. On Ale’s recommendation, we had a drink at the top of the Union Francesa building just around the corner at sunset which had a lovely view and good cheap food & drink. We walked through Vedado to the Malecon via the historic hotels Habana Libre and Nacional. We stayed in Habana Vieja (old town) at the start of our trip and this felt like a better insight into life in the city than the touristic centre, while also being a safe and attractive neighbourhood.

I really do love this my stay at his home. Ale was the most amazing host very friendly and accommodating. This being my first solo trip I was a bit hesitant however he not only made me feel comfortable but also safe.
The home was so beautiful and unique and the food offered for breakfast and dinner was plentiful and delicious. I would visit again and would recommend to everyone I know who would 10/10

The property is a beautiful building, with high ceilings and plenty of character. The host was very friendly and very helpful. Helping us arrange taxis and sort out our money queries. The room was very clean. There was air conditioning, a fan and a hot shower. There was a fridge with fresh drinking water, which was replaced daily. This was a very nice touch, that we appreciated very much.

Alex and his wife are really nice people, very friendly, helpful and with positive vibes. The room and bathroom were enough big, very clean and comfortable bed. They have also the internet which is a big plus on Cuba. And every day they prepared an amazing breakfast for us from the fresh stuff. I strongly recommend this house.

Alexander (or as most people call him ‘Alex) and his wife were perfect hosts. They catered for all my needs including serving a vegan alternative, relocating breakfast to the front porch and being an invaluable source of information and advice. Despite saying his English was ‘not so good’ Alex’ english was more just fine - I’d have no hestation in booking again or recommending to others. Thank-you! Benjamin.

The Villa Carmita was the first place that I visites when I came to Cuba. Alex, the host is a really nice guy and very friendly. He gives good advice and help to all travellers who are new to Cuba. Just talk to him when you need anything. Also the communication before arriving was really good.
The house is big and tidy, the rooms and the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are well air condicioned.
At the house the Internet (which is hard to find as you are travelling in Cuba, believe me) works fast which is important to everyone who needs or wants to stay connected to the rest of the world.
All that is left to say is that I can totally recommend this place if you are planning to stay for one or more days in Havana

I’m going to come back soon.
