I needed a quick, late night check-in at a nice hotel close to one of the NYC hospitals. The Holiday Inn Express - Jamaica met my needs exceptionally well. I enjoyed a comfortable overnight stay, and was able to return to the hospital early the next morning.

It was a pleasant surprise we wanted to stay close to JFK to fly out in the morning. First we were welcomed by a friendly gentleman he was courtesy and professional. The BIGGEST and most welcome surprise was how comfortable the bed was...it was our 5th bed in 2 weeks and it was great. The property has obviously been recently renovated and done well. An added benefit was the included breakfast which included a decent selection. The low star is nothing to do with the actual property but the surrounding area is definitely sketchy, in fact the front desk person said do NOT leave anything in the car since we had to park on the street no parking garage is onsite. However overall it was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely stay there again for an early flight.

We stayed for an overnight layover at JFK and with only a few hours to sleep picked this one based on proximity. We took the AirTrain to the shuttle area only to call and be told they don’t have one (despite it saying there was one on Expedia), then the security wall protecting the person at the check in desk was very off putting and immediately caused unease about the area. The sheets had some stains and despite shampoo and conditioner bottles being provided in the bathroom, the conditioner was basically soap and water. When we called down to request some we were told we should’ve brought our own and that there was nothing they could do. Needless to say I would not recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 4 nights. Housekeeping came 2 days and did not wipe down surfaces or provide with adequate towels for the number of people staying in the room. Fire alarm went off at 5am the first night of the stay.

New hotel with clean, spacious, modern rooms. Very convenient to JFK airport via the AirTram, as well as the LIRR and Subway to Manhattan. Free breakfast was lame. Overall, a workable option if you need an overnight stay for a flight in or out of JFK.

The place is easy to navigate, the staff was courteous, complimentary water was a nice touch, breakfast was good. On the down side, in one room the desk lamp didn't work, in another one the thermostat display was just blank and impossible to see what the temperature the AC was set to. Also, cable channels would randomly go out for a while. But overall it was a good stay.

Avoid this hotel, not a nice area. Smelly people living in the hotel. Stain sheets. Hated it. Dirty sheets on the floor of the hallway outside my room. Nice staff though. Outside the hotel is dirty. Trash on the streets. No parking either so if you drive you"d be lucky to find parling on the road.

I was not pleased with the way the front desk staff speak to us as we were checking in. I also was not okay with being placed on the Concourse level of the hotel. They also took a copy of my driver's license, which in this day and age, SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY after the staff verifies that the person making the booking is the person checking in.
