Love the hotel. Beautiful redo of historic hotel. A little loud because it’s brick with no insulation.

National Exchange is gem in gold county. The rooms are amazing, the restaurant is fantastic, and the bar is legendary. The entire experience is worth the stay, I found myself constantly surprised by the quality of everything. The service, the coffee, everything is great. I believe this hotel will get a 4th star rating in the years to come.

We live about 60 miles from Nevada City in Davis, CA and we just needed a day/night away to celebrate our 44th anniversary. We had a WONDERFUL time at the National Exhange Hotel. The check-in person was very kind and helpful (even got a bump-up in room). The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. We had dinner in the restaurant (Lola) downstairs and the food and drinks were outstanding: really well prepared, creative, pacing was great, and the servers were top notch ... we'll be back, for sure!

Was a wreath place to stay. It was like staying in the Haunted Mansions

Wonderful stay. Staff was great. Room was large. Walking around town was romantic. Everything exceeded expectations. Don’t miss breakfast at Lola’s, excellent coffee

This hotel has so much history. It gives you the feeling of being in the Old West.
The town is very interesting and the people were all very kind.
Check out the Deer Creek trail and suspension bridge when you are there.

Awesome historical property
Grabbed me from the second I walked in. Then the room sealed the deal!

The live Irish band playing in the bar was a lovely touch.

Stayed for one night to attend a local wedding. Property and rooms are beautiful. Great drinks at the bar. A bunch of shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Would highly recommend.

Couldn’t wait to get up to Nevada City to stay in this fantastically renovated property. We arrived around 5, 2 hours after check in and were a bit disappointed that our rooms weren’t ready. We were offered drinks tokens which was a good compromise but a late checkout wasn’t offered when asked which was a shame. Other than this little set back, the standard rooms were small but well decorated. Would book a more expensive room next time but excellent shower which was welcomed after 5 days camping in the wild.

Perfect for parade viewing and cleanliness - room was spacious - our guests loved visiting and the lobby made a perfect space to meet them. Thank you!

This Hotel Is Immaculate… Love Would Be A Severe Understatement.
The Check-In Staff, the Bartender’s and Every Single Detail In Between was incredible.
So Clean and the Linens Were Fabulous! The Only Negative Is That I Had To Leave.

The hotel is amazing. And the staff is even better. The answer was always YES and we really enjoyed our room.

My mom needs a walker and there was no elevator. No bars to hold onto anywhere in the bathroom. Dining room was beautiful and good was very good. Debbie at the front desk was great when we checked in. Room was a little sparse-no TV just a bed and a dresser and a little noisy but hey, it’s an old heritage hotel.

Great Historic property. A tad loud due to bar, restaurant, and private party but overall a good experience. Watch out for ghosts.

My family and I had an amazing experience at this facility. From the check in to check out we had so much fun here. My kids had a blast getting a “history lesson” from the staff about the facility. They took time to make sure they heard all the stories about the past and all about the hotel and town. They gave us awesome recommendations on where to eat and gave us a map of what was around us and even gave us directions on local cemeteries to walk around. It was pouring and they provided us with umbrellas to walk around at night and we felt so safe doing so. The town itself is so cute both day and night and has just the right amount of shops and places to eat/drink for both families and couples. We stayed in the king suite and it was so beautifully remodeled with touches of the past and so comfy and cozy. We had a balcony with a view of the shops and at night the streets were so pretty! You really get a feel of what it was like in the 1800’s. What a great little overnight getaway! Highly recommend!

The parking was a challenge, Our room was small with no TV or refrigerator. I did love the shower. The restaurant was wonderful with live piano playing creating a wonderful atmosphere. It was just a bit expensive for how small the room was without breakfast included. They did provide coffee and wonderful muffins. Over all it was a great visit but am not sure if I would recommend for the price.

I take "Mama needs a break" trips every few months and this place was a great addition to my list. It was adorable. The staff was SO friendly and everything was the perfect kind of quirky. My room was beautiful and comfortable and quiet. The restaurant downstairs was DELICIOUS and the atmosphere in both places made me want to stay longer. I've already told all my friends about this place!

The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and our room had a separate private outside patio that was really nice. The only complaint was that both nights we stayed there was some banging and drilling upstairs in the room above us and that was pretty annoying at 8 in the morning. I also left the service the room door placard out but no one ever came in to service the room. The food at Lola was amazing!!!

This is a historic hotel in a vibrant city. It’s quaint and comfortable. We’ve stayed there a few times and it’s beautifully decorated for the holidays. My complaints are that the sheets were frayed and the free breakfast wasn’t as good as we’ve had previously.

Both the National Exchange and the Holbrooke, their other property in Grass Valley, have been beautifully renovated but still have old fashioned charm. Comfortable rooms and great restaurants right in the heart of these interesting gold rush towns.

Super loud, no hot water.

This place is beautiful. The drinks were excellent in the bar. The bed was so comfortable. Beautiful rooftop patio overlooking the Main Street. The front desk personnel are so kind. Just amazing, you need to stay here if you come to Nevada city. Come on a Thursday to see the Celtic group play in the bar, they are wonderful.

The hotel is amazing...inside and out. I stayed about 6 years ago and it was run-down and in need of some love. The newly renovated hotel is beautiful inside and out.
4.0
Incredibly well restored 19th century hotel with all the upgrades. For example, bathrooms were down the hall; now each room has luxury level private bathrooms.

Overall a pricey but great place to stay, especially if you're coming for the Christmas Victorian street faire. Parking is a HUGE issue.
