Not a Curio Collection standard. Lack of customer service and attention to detail.
Check-in was chaotic, the room was not ready by 3pm, zero explanation about the property and amenities. The roof pool area never had towels available. The bed was not comfortable and little details like hangers to dry the towels were missing in the bathroom. A 3 star property priced as a 5 star.

Great staff, nice bed, Molton Brown bath products, great rooftop pool area.

The Palacio, a hotel located in a beautiful historic building, was an excellent choice for our stay in San Juan. Our basic criteria for rating a hotel is simple; bed, shower and location. In all these respects the Palacio excelled. That is not to say it was flawless. The room was relatively loud. You are in the heart of old San Juan after all. If street noise bothers you, request a room on the second floor. The hotel restaurant was mediocre. We experienced rainy days throughout our stay and the restaurant was partially uncovered. That meant splashing water. The intense action of the overhead fans meant that our food was cold almost immediately. These are admittedly small issues and the overall excellence of the staff overcame them. Our plans were continuously changing and the staff assisted us repeatedly. Despite the uncertain weather and our small complaints, we recommend highly.

Wonderful, very welcoming atmosphere. Right in the heart of Old San Juan, within walking distance of everything. Then, after we left, we discovered we had left some medication in the fridge, and they same-day couriered it to our current location at no charge to us.

This is the first time I stayed in a hotel in Old San Juan. I have been in PR many times, but I always stayed in the Condado area. I had always wanted to spend a couple of days right in the middle of Old San Juan in a colonial building. Palacio Provincial was amazing. Not only the facility was spectacular and in a great location, but the kind of service I received was first class. I wan to thank all staff, and especially the front desk professionals. They are attentive, friendly, and very welcoming. I hope to come back soon. Gracias team!

What a beautiful and clean space! The Deputy room with 2 queen beds was spacious enough for 4 ppl and the bathroom was large. Outdoor pool and hot tub are small but still nice enough to enjoy some views. Staff were so helpful and kind, gave us a good restaurant recommendation. Plenty of towels including for the pool/beach. Such a great location to explore Old San Juan!

Our stay was amazing! My sister and I stayed for four nights. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel restaurant was delicious (we got room service too!). And the infinity rooftop pool was incredible. Walkable to the fort, shops, and restaurants. Only a 9 minute Uber to a beautiful beach. Great staff! Would come back in a heartbeat!

Room 241 and 242 are right beneath the A/C and generator. It was loud and could be heard throughout the night. This is something that should be disclosed. I suffer from insomnia and the noise was terrible.

I recently stayed at the Palacio and had a mixed experience. The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained, but the staff's approach to security was quite off-putting. My 19-year-old daughter, a student in San Juan with her own apartment, joined us because we chose to stay in Viejo San Juan to enjoy each other's company. However, the staff insisted on seeing her ID. Despite explaining that only my husband and I were staying, they continued to question everyone in our party. This level of scrutiny made me feel like a liar and was both excessive and intrusive.
Additionally, this property does not have parking, which was inconvenient. While I understand the need for security, the way it was handled and the lack of parking left a lot to be desired.

Great location, staff, and hotel amenities. The rooftop pool was really nice as well as the gym and restaurant. Only thing we didn’t love was that the rooms were VERY dark even with all the lights on. Not sure if this is because we stayed on the first floor and the windows were blocked because of the street. Overall would recommend and enjoyed our stay.

Hotel and staff were amazing. We did not get to utilize the hot tub or pool as we didn't have time but it was beautiful. Loading / unloading is a pain... You have to move some cones and if police are there you have to tell them why you're doing it as the street is closed to vehicles. Valet Parking lot is one block away and self parking is about five blocks. You will not want to carry your stuff through the streets. Other than the load and unload, the hotel and staff were perfect and I would stay here again.

We are regulars at the palacio every time we stay in San Juan and love it every time. We had a long flight home from Athens to San Juan and got in at 1 am. Rather than take the 2 1/2 hour drive to the other side of the island, we stayed at the palacio for a great night sleep (they have the most comfy beds) and were refreshed for our cape air flight back home the next day!

This is my favorite hotel so far in Viejo San Juan. Its a little more expensive but it has everything you need, beautiful, and perfect location for historical sites, and cute restaurants also bars. I love the no kids requirement makes it more a relaxing enjoyable stay. People are super friendly all over Puerto Rico please respect the island and clean up after yourselves, respect the animals you are not in the United States main land, its not the same so dont act foolish.
