Disclaimer:
The Hawaiian Islands have some of the most remote and tropical rainforests in the world. Nevertheless, like any moist and fertile environment, you may find some ants, mosquitoes, roaches, and critters like little geckos that share this beautiful world with humans. To keep out bugs, remember to close the doors right after entering. Don't leave food or crumbs on counters or tables and avoid eating at the bed because ants are smart and fast.

This was the perfect location for us as we were headed to volcano national Park first thing in the morning.

This is a great place to stay for visiting Volvanoes NP. The house is very comfortable, specious and well equipped. We had a wonderful stay.

This was just the right base for us to spend a few days in Volcanoes National Park. We were also close enough to Hilo that we could schedule bad weather activities there. There were plenty of towels, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the location was perfect. Check-in was very easy - even in the dark.

Nicely decorated large house that was clean and well supplied with everything needed for a great stay. It was a quick drive to the the National Park which we were able to enjoy in brief periods during the frequent rain during our stay. Appreciated the rain ponchos and large umbrellas provided at the house.
The caretaker, Anita, was very responsive and immediately provided a can opener when notified. We enjoyed our stay in the house, but there were a few roaches in the kitchen and bathroom- which Anita said was common in the tropics and would set up baited traps.

Lovely home. proximity to the national park is incredibly convenient. well stocked with pots and pans. great for family time in a beautiful part of the world. It does get cold in the night. Heated blankets all around. Space heaters could be a valuable addition.

Large property for family to sprawl out. Mattresses extremely comfortable. Washer/dry nice to have available. Very close to Volcano National Park. This house is in a rainforest thus interior is very musty and damp.
Overall lovely property!

This property was a perfect home base for exploring Volcanos National Park, Hilo and Punalu’u. We traveled with three adults, a tween and a teen. The bunk beds were perfect for the kids. And the king and queen beds were super cozy. The home is so inviting with many notes around to let you know things like beach towels in the master closet, or how to work the fireplace, etc. It has a pretty secluded feel—the rainforest surrounds you, but the neighbors aren’t far. The house has no A/C but stays very cool (but constantly moist) with fans and cool nighttime temps.
The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking at home. There were lots of leftover condiments and kitchen essentials (salt, pepper, sugar, coffee filters, etc.) but do check expiration dates as we found several expired items.
There were quite a few extra items in the mud room area to use for your day trips. We were super thankful to have the cooler to use for our picnic lunches when we went out and about.
The only recommendation I’d make is some chairs on the porch to sit and enjoy the rainforest and the singing frogs with a morning coffee or an evening drink. I compromised by sitting on the step, but chairs would’ve been awesome!
Overall, this is a great place. Not super fancy, but exactly what we needed for our adventures in Hawaii.

The house was clean and welcoming! Three kiddos and two adults had plenty of space to sprawl out and the kids loved the bunkbeds. From here, not only is the Park very handy but also great beaches like Punalu'u and Whittington. There are immediate activities down the road: there is a nice little convenience store and playground just down the road and kids loved chasing the chickens with crackers at the transfer station. We really appreciated the open invite to leave leftovers for the housekeepers chickens as it made us feel better about not wasting food in the mad dash to vacate on our last day. We would definiately pick this place again as a convenient and comfortable jump point for the Park.

3 bedroom home(one bedroom has a bunk bed) two full baths, with every kitchen amenity you could ever want and a fireplace. Great grocery store in Paheo and others closer. 40' from Hilo. Only complaint was the home smelled musty. Located in a rain forest, what can you expect?

Beautiful home near volcano park. If the park is your destination on the island this is the spot!
