The proprietors were wonderful and very kind. They were very caring and generous.

An exquisite hotel taking full advantage of its 15th century historical foundations- quiet but located close to the action - restaurants, bars and all the cultural centres.
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.
An absolute joy all round.
Only criticism (not mentioned at the time) was the bathroom didn’t have a proper shower or curtain- a walk in shower would have been wonderful (but we appreciate the constraints of a medieval building).
Thoroughly recommended!

Lovely hotel, convenient but away from the busy streets. The staff are lovely. Appreciate that it is a very old building but the decor and facilities in the rooms could be better, especially the bathrooms, very basic even in a deluxe double. The rooms are very average for a very expensive hotel. If you have breakfast make sure you choose everything as it is 30 Euros each, even if you only have coffee and a bowl of fruit!! The dinner options are very limited but nice, again tho not worth the money charged.

Always a little difficult to park, there being no gararge attached to the property. Otherwise all very god.

Had a very enjoyable stay at Le Champ des Oiseaux! Medieval Suite in Medieval house - imagine a lot of wood beams you see when you lay down at night! Good bed, every day a fresh bottle of Evian water. Very friendly and classy service (which you could expect for this price). Improvement area's - our medieval suite didn't have a shower but a very nice bath - in which you need to sit to hold the shower on top of your head - it worked but not as practical as a walk in shower. Don't know about the other rooms. Re dinner - they only service cold platters - but then they were excellent.
I will go back

This is a hidden gem, tucked away in an alley behind the cathedral. It oozes charm and the restaurant is worth a visit on its own. Though most of the staff provided attentive and courteous service, we were putt off by the person behind the counter when we checked out: she refused to allow us 30 minutes for a late check-out (moving it to 12:00, rather than the 11:30 am we were entitled to); this was a bit inflexible. Other than that, we highly recommend this hotel.

The property is delightful, the staff are charming and helpful, However, for a hotel advertised as Alain Ducasse, the food was poor. The prices were Fine Dining prices but the quality was "pub grub" and I doubt that most pubs would be happy to serve a veal stew that was underseasoned and the veal was tough.
On the following evening we stayed at another Chateaux restaurant, in Chambery where the meal was a little more than half the price and was genuinely Fine Dining.

Our stay here was first class. We were welcomed on arrival by a helpful and informative receptionist. The building is beautiful and the rooms very comfortable.
The hotel is perfectly located for a stroll around the town. We regret not having booked our dinner in the restaurant, which looked great but full bynthe time we decided we wanted to eat there.
We enjoyed breakfast in the courtyard, which was plentiful and served with French style.

This hotel is a lovely property and in an ideal location to explore Troyes. The room we had was small, exceptionaly clean and nicely decorated. The beds are soft and comfortable and the bath appointed with good products and new very fluffy towels.
However it is missing a couple of key areas. The room was very hot and stuffy even with the provided fan. There is no coffee/tea service or mini bar in the room but there was a single bottle of water provided. The room came equiped with a high sided ensuite bath but no shower which is awkward.
The rooms are not very soundproof and a family that arrived late one evening could be heard banging around until after midnight. For people with reduced mobility be aware that there are steep steps to the rooms. We did not eat at the hotel but breakfast is available for 23 euros per person and there is a small expensive restaurant available most nights. There is no concierge service and parking is first come first served so early arrival is recommended. While the hotel is rated at 5 stars it does not have five star amenities.

Unexpected excellence as an overnight stop on the way to Venice from the UK. The town is wonderful, the hotel just fabulous - full of character and beautiful.

Difficult to find but worth it when you get there

It is a beautiful hotel yet room is small and dark. Try not to get the ground floor rooms.

This review is annoying, asking for far too much information - it is enough to say we really liked it, we only stayed 1 night, after all ! You need much shorter yes/no questions.

We were only there for a a single night and so were unable to take advantage of everything the 15th-17th Century hotel has to offer..
4.6
Very comfortable hotel, we had a very good rate with Hotels.com. The room wasn't large but well furnished & in excellent condition.

Great hotel, close to everything to see in Troyes. Beautiful historic building. Quiet despite being on the ground floor. Great reception. Breakfast was delicious in an adorable quaint room. Unfortunately did not get to try the restaurant as it was closed during our stay. Highly recommended.
4.6
Excellent communication pre-stay, a wonderfully warm welcome, very pretty room overlooking quiet street with car parking directly outside. We had dinner which was served in a small but opulent dining room - delicious. Would definitely recommend and will always stay there as stopping point midway down France. Take time to walk round the city, museum, cathedral and the covered market.

We stopped in Troyes on our way down to Provence as we had heard what a beautiful city it was. Family had recommended the hotel but had not done it justice! From the moment you park outside the hotel everything is just so perfect. The welcome at the front desk was perfect and we were just blown away by the beauty of the building and grounds. Clean (our room smelt of furniture polish and lavender), beautifully decorated throughout and with a wonderful restaurant, what more could we want. Breakfast was like a small tea party - I didn't want the decadence to end. If you need to break the long journey from Calais to the South Coast then don't go through Troyes without stopping here. Spoil yourself!

The service we received was generally first class:the staff were always willing to help wherever they could, with whatever situation we presented them with. No air conditioning, in the room, made for uncomfortable nights. The wi-fi being down on our arrival, proved to be a problem.
4.6
The hotel is beautiful and everyone is kind and helpful. A shame that the internet connection was slow in the common areas and nearly not existent in our room.
4.6
It was a nice pleasant stay, room was very nice. However, if I come back in the future, I would want a room with a shower not a bath! As I am not tall, it was quite a job getting in and getting out of the slippery bath was not easy, and I really hurt my knee as the edge of the bath is quite wide - can only imagine the accidents that could happen here! The toilet was separate and at the other side of the room and with no sink!Been to Troyes before, but I asked the receptionists about a good pancake place for dinner. One of the receptionists came to my room shortly after with a map and circled the restaurants she recommended, which was much appreciated...and I did indeed have a nice meal!

A gem. Very much worth a visit if in troyes. Stay for breakfast you wont be disappointed.
4.6
Very nice hotel, tucked away down a small cobbled Street.
Our room was on the ground floor next to the street, so opening the blinds left little privacy.
Breakfast was not included in our stay, and at 200 euros per night - felt this was a little overpriced compared to our previous hotel on this trip.
4.6
We stayed here to break up the drive from the South of France back to Calais. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was the least expensive standard double, but was very comfortable with a decent sized bathroom and separate toilet. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed linen crisp and bright white, the towels and bathrobes soft and plentiful! You can sense that they take pride in the quality of things. We didn't have breakfast but it looked like a very impressive spread.
4.6
Le Champ des Oiseaux was a charming hotel in a great location. f you don't plan on spending much time in your room, this hotel is great with plenty of gathering areas both inside and out along with a very small swimming pool. Our room was very small for the price with barely enough room to turn around in. Thank goodness the bathroom was a good size. They have a nice breakfast as well. So yes, it is charming but oh so small for the price.
4.6
Our overnight stay could not have been better : central location, parking outside the door, excellent facilities and service, and a warm and helpful welcome on arrival. We hope to return.

This hotel met our every expectation, and then some. We arrived at 10pm, and were warmly welcomed. Staff were attentive and helpful as far as providing info. on local sights. We were able to park on the street outside the hotel, and leave the car there all of the following day until we left in the late afternoon. Breakfast was good. The room was beautiful, overlooking the street. Location was excellent from a tourist perspective..less than 100 metre's from the cathedral, and a 5 minute walk to the centre of the town. In retrospect, we wished we had stayed another night to see more of beautiful Troyes!
