About this house rental
The Farmhouse was originally located on a Fairbanks’ homestead. This home is comfortable, charming, and just a bit quirky. It features subtle Alaskan decor, with billowy down comforters and pillows on each bed. Right off the Trainor Gate entrance to Ft. Wainwright and just a few blocks away from the shopping center, the Farmhouse is the perfect space for visiting family or as a landing pad for those wanting to explore Fairbanks.
The space
Lots of bedrooms (not to mention three full bathrooms!) make this house a great choice for large groups. The Farmhouse grew over time, so the scale of the kitchen and dining area does not match the size of the house, but that’s perfect for travelers who have places to go and things to see! It has three levels; the living room, kitchen/dining, a bathroom and bedroom are on the main level. The bedroom on the main level functions as an office furnished with a desk and couch, but the couch can be folded down into a full/queen bed if you request it. Two bedrooms and one bath are upstairs, with three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry in the basement. Enjoy the spacious yard during the summer and fall, with a bbq grill, outdoor seating, and a fire pit.
Guest access
Guests will have the entire house, as well as fenced-in yard all to themselves. The garage is not available for guest use and will be locked. There is space for about 4 vehicles in the driveway.
Other things to note
A non-toxic home with healthy air is important to us. We have house plants and an air purifier to help with this. We also have a diffuser with essential oils. Towels and bedding are washed with fragrance-free detergent and vinegar for a softener; no dryer sheets are used, only wool cotton dryer balls. Oxi-clean is used for whitening.
We know some people have sensitivities. Some things to note about our house are these:
Sheets are 100% cotton.
All of the beds have down comforters and down pillows.
There is no carpet in our home, except on the stairs.
Bleach products will be used in bathrooms, as a necessity. Natural non-toxic products are used everywhere else.
If you have allergy concerns, please message us with any questions or special requests.
Also, please note that there is a train track across the street. A coal train passes a few times a day carrying coal to Ft. Wainwright. It is not obnoxious, and does not run on the weekend, but still worth noting.

Another great stay! Close to everything we needed in Fairbanks. Lots of room for everyone.

We arrived and saw a window open on the second floor. After checking on it we discovered the crank mechanism was broken and when we called the host we were told new windows were ordered and we would just have to deal with it. Upon further inspection of the other upstairs window it too was broken and had to be taped to keep bugs and possibly bats out. Microwave was not cleaned. Cushions were left outside on chairs so were wet the entire time we were there

All 3 couples loved the place and the thoughtful amenities. Everything we needed was there and Kate was super communicator before & during our stay.

We were a group of 10 adults visiting from 6 states. The house was fully stocked. The owners, Kate and Paul, were wonderful. They were very attentive to our needs, both small and large. The kitchen was small, but we were ok with it. The natural light in the upstair bedrooms and sun porch was pleasant. The beds were comfortable.

This was the perfect home base for all of our winter activities in and around Fairbanks. The location could not have been any better. There were 8 of us and having 3 bathrooms was wonderful. Kate was easy to contact and quick to respond.

Our stay was wonderful. The host is easy to work with and even let us check in a bit early. The property is on a corner lot, but it was very quiet and peaceful. The thoughtful small details can be found all over the house, from extra toothbrushes and feminine supplies in the bathrooms, to mini marshmallows and hot chocolate on the coffee bar. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the rooms were clean and cozy. We were even able to see some of the northern lights from the upstairs Wildflower room. I would definitely book this property again and won't hesitate to recommend it.

This property worked very well for us. We were in town visiting my parents, and this was the closest property to them. It’s also very close to any grocery or restaurants you’d need during your stay. It was very clean and well-decorated. My mother-in-law stayed in the top floor bedroom and we stayed on the bottom floor so we could keep the baby in the room next to ours. The main floor is the common area of the house with living room, kitchen, and a den area we used as a playroom. There’s also a sunroom, but we didn’t use that. Communication with the host was easy and we would stay there again, and likely will. The train only woke us up once during our stay. Not a big deal for the convenience of the property.

We are former Fairbanks resident that came home for a wedding. This house gave us everything we needed!! It has so much space inside and outside. A full size kitchen as well as a grill outside gave us a variety eating options. The owner is very easy and pleasant to communicate with. I can’t say enough good things about this home except we would stay there again!! Thank you Kate!!!!

We stayed in the house three nights with our daughters, sons-in-laws and three grandchildren. It was a great choice for us, as everyone had their own comfy bed, three bathrooms to share, and could be together while still having space apart. Kate was very responsive to our questions, and even offered to bring kindling over if we wanted to use the fire pit (we didn’t). Despite being close to the railroad track, we did not find the trains disturbed our sleep, especially if we used the fans. We highly recommend this property.

The house is great. Many rooms so everyone can have their own space, but a large enough living room to all be together. The location is perfect and a quick drive to downtown and food. Everything in the house was easy to use and find. Would definitely stay here again.

My friends and I just had the greatest time in Alaska! It was an amazing trip, everything was so special! And all of this was only possible because we had this comfortable and cozy house to stay during our stay in the city!! We felt like home! It was amazing having this place where everyone could have its own room and get rest after a long day of exploring Fairbanks. I’ll always remember this trip! And I’m so thankful to the owners because they were always totally kind and gentle to us. It was a pleasure to stay in this house and I totally recommend it!

This was such a comfy place to stay during a hard time for our family. The owner made us feel so at home and the amenities were tremendous. It really did feel like home! I walked to the sunshine health market less than 3 minutes away every morning, it was awesome! Thanks you again for letting us stay in your beautiful house!
